great video man! I work dawless as well: sample a record from a turntable into my SP404 or MPC2000XL, make the beat and then bounce it to tape via a tascam portable tape machine or bounce to a tascam CD burner
@@spvidz thanks man! I appreciate the kind words. Your deck is nice!! I’ve watched that video (and every video on your channel, literally not kidding) multiple times and that one is a favorite
So are you sampling with some type of mixer as well from the pc? It just seems like you’d need something to bring all those cables together. Also, there are a few videos on the net talking about using attenuation plugs for zoom digital recorders. You mustn’t need them with the h5, or more updated versions of other recorders.
I come straight out the back of my audio interface. Its USB and sends the signal out more than strong enough. It has a phono output so I just go from the back of that to the back of my SP. H5 - I've not heard of that before mine takes both standard jack and XLR in the two inputs at the bottom
Not sure I've done a live session before but I'm looking into it at the moment. Would like to do some live beat making streams! Thanks for watching man
@@spvidz for sure! It’s can be pretty cool sometimes. I follow you on Twitter and could show you how to the navigate the screens to get there? Maybe we could get a thread going-
Not sure I agree, I have a lot more respect for the likes of Dilla and Madlib who have put together full albums on very limited gear over a hypothetical example, say someone just downloading a load of loops off splice and putting them together in Ableton. For me the craft is also important and deserves recognition (not using my beats as an example, most of mine are ass). Personally as well, DAWless workflows are a great excuse to get away from staring at a screen, which is something I've spent way too much of my life doing already.
@@spvidz oh I agree with you totally. Been doing beats since 1987. I still use the MPC 2500, Roland S-550, Akai S-1000, and etc. I do like dawless better. More hands on and sound better to me. But I have heard a lot of DAW stuff that blew me away.
I rarely track stuff out tbh. If I make stuff with the 404sx, I usually just bounce the whole track and do a bit of eq and compression maybe. I will look into trying it though and doing some videos around it! Thanks for watching!
Wow this is crazy I just came here to ask you about what that zoo thing does just found out that they are also interfaces and wanted to know more about them and boom I click on this and that's what your talking about here lol I'd like to know more about the zoom thing what's and why you and others are using it
I have another video somewhere in the archive. It’s called something like ‘what is this little black box’ I am planning on doing more content on it soon though too 👍
I was looking another video to play and I heard the Jedi Mind Tricks samples at the end. Nice touch.
Appreciate it, thanks for tuning in!
Video for going DAWless the same day Ableton 11 is released. I see what you did there, mate!
lol, definitely a coincidence...honest 👀
the quality of your vids continues to go up, the new subscribers are well deserved. gif at 3:00 priceless😂
Appreciate that man, thanks very much! Now I've got a bit more time for each video I can add a few touches like the gifs :)
Thanks for the lessons & sharing your knowledge
Really dope vid man. Tight finger drums! Nice tip too that about pressing remain to add the effect on the line in.
Thanks for watching man! Yeah its really useful to be able to add MFX when you are recording in!

Thats a dope workflow man, would love one of those tape machines! I've got the deck which does a nice job too though!

Yes bro! Good to hear that :)

Been digging your vids lately cuz I’m gonna get an SP 404!
Awesome man! Cheers for tuning in 👌
Hey man, when will we see you do a live sp404 session again man. Love your vids!
Not sure I've done a live session before but I'm looking into it at the moment. Would like to do some live beat making streams! Thanks for watching man
This is dope! Your channel has helped me a lot on my journey fam! Appreciate you ✊🏿
Glad to hear it! Thanks for checking out the vids
Thing of using my h4n pro and sp202 with the 4mb card
That would be pretty cool man yeah. I'm sure you could make some seriously gritty sounding beats with that set-up!
The mastering function on the MPC2000XL is pretty good if you want to do DAWless mastering
Will have to look into that, thanks!

@@spvidz just checked on my MPC2000XL, here’s the moves to get to the mastering screen:
SHIFT
7 MIXER
F1 DRUM1
F4 SETUP
Thanks a lot man, I will check twitter later too
@@spvidz awesome!!
VERY NEEDED! I want to run my sp 404 thru a sp 202 or 303 when i get one of those . for extra fx. thanks
Killer combos yeah! 👌
I keep drifting away from my 202 and then I am reminded of the grit and I’m right back on it! 😂
haha know the feeling. Ive been all over it recently. Loving the sampling rates and the pitch!
Great video bro!!🙏🏾✊🏾
Thanks for dropping in again man! 🙏
I just need something to record my free flow jamming and put with my videos after
Where do you get the black pads for the sp??
mpcstuff.com
End result is the music. Is the track any good? Doesn't matter you made it with or even how.

Yeah 100% man. As long as peeps are making beats that’s all that matters to me. I think whatever works best for people is the way to go
Oh yeah. I STILL sequence all my hardware using my Roland MC-50.
I would be interested to see your process in mastering your beats after you track them in a DAW

You know any recorder that's cheaper can I use h1
any hand-held portable recorder will work, you'll just need to see what connections it has and get the right cables for it
Got to get me one of those recorders
Yeah they’re super useful. Especially the mics too for making your own sounds and capturing ambient sounds

Next time you make a beat, you could live stream it. I wonder if that would be cool 🤔😁👍
I've been thinking about doing some live sessions man yeah, will have to see if I can get it working. Would be awesome to do!
wtf disliked this
