- Footage of F-14A Tomcats from VF-84 Jolly Rogers in the film Executive Decision released in 1996. This footage was shot just prior to the squadron being disbanded. All of the scenes in this video are actual footage of F-14As and a 747-200 painted with markings of a fictional airline.

Interesting fact: Legendary pilot Dale 'Snort' Snodgrass choreographed this and was flying the lead F-14A Tomcat in those scenes according to 'Snort' himself. R.I.P Dale 'Snort' Snodgrass. Best of the best. "Anytime Baby!"
I swear if you look closely to the CAG aircraft #200 you could almost read "DALE SNODGRASS" but the callsign seems to be something absurdly long, certainly not snort, so I don't know, but it would be cool if there was his name on the aircraft.
@@OfficialUSKRprogram Yeah, could be possible. 'Snort' himself said in an interview shortly before he passed away that he was the choreographer and F-14 lead in 'Executive Decision'
Tomcats and 747 together, that's some strong pornography right there!
2 of the coolest planes ever, the F-14 and 747 , just beautiful!!
F-14 Tomcat used to do some kick-ass launch scenes
Yes very beatiful
Mostly MIG ass kicker*
I was actually at VF 84 in Key West when they were filming was very cool but we worked our ass off
Thanks for your service! Geek out question but what was / how realistic was the crn115 National command authority bit
The best Navy jet ever built.
Best interceptor ever made.
Fighter/Interceptor. It was designed to take the fight where it needed to go and win.
THE most gorgeous thing ever made by mankind 👌
True 👍
It indeed was.
Awesome. F-14, still the coolest aircraft to have flown.
It must have been an awesome experience for all the pilots (747 and F-14). How often do you get a chance to do this?!?!
Some sexy Tomcat footage.
amen.
Very true
Another interesting tidbit of info is the scene involving F-14 interception was portrayed by the real life VF-84 Jolly Roger squadron, which you may also have seen in the movie "The Final Countdown". This scene was the last film appearance of the squadron before they were disestablished on October 1, 1995 due to downsizing of the Navy following the end of the Cold War.
My sister squadron, we called them Hollywood, they brought back the black tails for the movie, they were removed for camo reasons, same as we lost our black ace of spades for a smaller dark gray and light gray look
The mighty Skull Squadron!!

lack of danger zone hurts this footagee
My favorite part is 1:10 the music times perfectly with the "authority" of the Tomcats.
Whenever I see a good Tomcat footage my heart smile . This is an excellent one. Full loadout of phoenix, arram and sidewinder. Best of is the jolly Rogers. Purrfect.
Phoenix and sidewinder, you're right, but the other is aim-7 sparrow. The leader of Tomcats says, before having the lock on : sparrow selected.
@@gargouenzene you may be right . The fins are significantly larger. Pardon me the missile paint job give me the wrong impression. Furthermore when the movie is out the super D are probably not operational yet. So yes a sparrow.
@@MarkzOngF-14A was never cleared to carry the AIM-120 AMRAAM. Those are AIM-7M Sparrows.
That unrestricted climb at 0:38 gives me chills… Tomcats Forever!
They sent the Skull Squadron from the look of it :D
VF-84 Jolly Rodgers
Most Beautiful Military aircraft flying with the most Beautiful Civilian aircraft: Both flying together in formation, a beautiful sight to see
I agree 👍 💯%. Shows power.
This could be the most underrated comment ever.
One of the best movies displaying Tomcats is The Final Countdown. The soundtrack is great too.
When they were still very new too.
I joined the Navy for my reasons. But I requested, and got, the mighty Nimitz because of that movie. I remember the first time I went to sea and they played that theme music over the 1MC. It sounded so good.
Final Countdown is what made me fall in love with the Tomcat.
I like those F-14 Tomcats and the Boeing 747 too in this Movie called Executive Decision🛩🛩🛩🛩✈👨✈️😎👫
One of the coolest fighters I’ve ever seen...
F14 is more beautiful than F18.
@Enduro Sol 27 No.. look at their wings XD they're not the same
Yes there are very beutiful than the f18st
There's always a comment like this in f-14 videos
Thank you
Marlon Villapando I think both the Tomcat and Hornet make a good team.
One of the sexiest planes to ever have soared the skies.
And...the DEADLIEST!
I disagree. It's THE sexiest plane, period.
I really, really miss this plane.
Rprince418 ㅗㅠㅠㅗ
They still fly daily missions.
no, they don't, they were retired in 2006
Absolutely, they do! I guess you never heard of the IRIAF..
we are talking about the US Navy here
The one Tomcat, number Two-Zero-Zero, was also shown in the first few scenes of “The Final Countdown”, with Kirk Douglas & Martin Sheen. It flew out of Pearl Harbor over to the U.S.S. Nimitz.
Different BuNo. The MODEX number is the same, but the aircraft is different. The first number in a MODEX is the squadron assignment number in the Carrier Air Wing (CVW). Double Doughnuts (x00) denotes the aircraft is the Commander of the Air Group (CAG). These aircraft usually have high-visibility flashy-looking liveries.
It s the big and powerful and beautiful jet forever .
I remember i was a kid like 8 or 9 years old 2007 and 8. Im really really like F 14 Tomcat fighter.😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Like F 14 Tomcat, From Malaysia.🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾💪💪💪💪💪
Awose
My favourite scenes of the whole movie.
Thank you Colonel Travis for your noble sacrifice.
Long lived the Tomcat
✈️ They're getting ready to light us up❗
Both F-14 Tomcats and F-18 Hornets are Perfect together.
When a Tomcat can carry out the same mission as a Hornet, why do you need Hornets?
This was precisely the question before the Super Hornet came out. The Super Tomcat 21 project would have seen the F-14 be where the Super Hornet is now, in a full Strike Fighter role, with complete digital avionics (eliminating old, heavy analog systems), full glass cockpit with a bubble canopy (no more canopy rails), built-in FLIR, greater weapons loadout (all advanced strike weaponry and AIM-120 AMRAAM), range with 4,000lb increased fuel load, new 30,000lb improved F110-GE-129 engines with thrust vectoring, speed (with super cruise) and ability to sustain an AoA of 77 degrees. Dick Cheney killed it because Dick Cheney.
Man everytime i see the skull logo at f 14, it reminds me of vf 1s Valkyrie from macross
The most iconic jet in movie history.... Thanks TOP GUN
The Tomcat was seen in a movie before top gun : the final countdown, with Kirk Douglas and Martin Sheen.
Up There with The Best......
I'm not sure if I can, I might have used too much footage which is why it was taken down. Someone else took the footage I put together and condensed it. Picture quality went down a notch, but it's still pretty good. The video is called "Grumman F-14 Tomcat in HD".
La colonna sonora di questo film è qualcosa di unico😍
The Jolly Rogers I love the F-14 Tomcat a nice aircraft but very expensive to maintain.
Dan "Traps" Cloyd commanded the VF-84 Jolly Rogers when this movie was filmed. He and Dale "Snort" Snodgrass were technical advisors on the film.
Traps was the CO of VF-84, but Snort was the CAG.
Watching this DVD more than 500 times for 19 years after 911.
1:06 - I like they way the tomcat's fly next to the 747...
Best part is when Steven Segal gets sucked out of the plane
Grumman F-14 Tomcat is the best fighter jet of ALL TIME !!
Many would say the F-15 was superior (never lost an engagement) but the F -14 is just badass. I even like it over the Raptor. Tomcat best fighter ever.
@@redsabreanakin F-14 has a better kill ratio and it was engaging in ACM with MIGs far more frequently in the 80s, but just never got authorized to shoot due to the Reagan ROE. It is just not hyped up like the F-15. USN 5-0 and the IRIAF with a 164:4. Some would say Iran is a foreign country, but Israel accounts for more than 50% of the F-15 kills. Not taking away from F-15. Just saying, F-14 has a phenomenal history, but it is never sold by propaganda like the F-15 was.
@@2ZZGE100 An the most successful F-14 Pilot was from Iran with the most confirmed kills.
@@JazzJaRa Yeah, true.
I Love Both: 747 & F-14.
sadly, they're both gone now :'(
@@willarterberry3392 THAT FUICKING SUCKS!
You're fond of the space shuttle too.
The last time VF-84 ever appeared on the big screen.
Until, they were resurrected as VF-103, thanks to Snodgrass.
Redesignating the VF-103 Sluggers to VF-103 Jolly Rogers.
@@scarecrow108productions7 VF-103 (or VFA-103) haven't appeared in any movie under the Jolly Rogers colors that I'm aware of, only when VF-84 was flying the skull and crossbones.
Magnificent birds
Anywhere, anytime baby ...#legend#tomcat
Badass.
Never scene the movie but that is some beautiful footage of the Tomcat.
Same squadron they used to film the movie The Final Countdown. Awesome aircraft!

Try Captain Dale "Snort" Snodgrass. It's on the side of MODEX 200, under the canopy.

F14 with afterburning at nightfall... prettiest
You only got to see than with the Alphas... :)

Roger that skipper!
this movie is so underated
Dear Department of Defense:
We want a 4++ generation Tomcat right now
Was actually gonna be a thing - Look up "Super Tomcat 21". Was going to be what the Super Hornet is now.
Am I the only one that noticed that the F-14's were carrying live missiles during a movie scene??
Mercedes Benz How could anyone tell whether they were “live” or just realistic looking shells?
the painting on the shells indicates if they are for training, inert or live ammo
They were painted to look live
Yeah...no
You can't do that no matter the situation, it's dangerous as f*ck
Live missiles have yellow band on the body. Inert = blue. Closer look on the tail-pipe of the missiles support that as well.
its really nice to see 202
If you see the same squadron with stripes painted underneath the wings, that's a real clip of the mission to recover the us hostages in Iran. They were used to show they were USA
When the Navy was run by real men...
Awesome.. thanks 👍🇳🇿
In good hd quality
anyone noticed that no.105 and no.132 is not exactly vf-84 jolly rogers but vf-32 fighting swordsmen
2:07 what a badass scene! Wooow. Like a lonely wolf preparing for a final attack. Just wooow!
Powerful aircrafts, to maintain them is a lot of work....🙂
Unusually cool!
0:34 that’s top gun
Ghost of Razgriz Returns
Just a side note: The squadron was not disbanded. The F14's were retired and the now fly the F/A-18F Super Hornet.
VF-84, the squadron these F-14A Tomcats belonged to was disbanded not long after this was filmed. VF-103 Sluggers, who flew the F-14B, changed their squadron name to Jolly Rogers and adopted all of the Jolly Rogers traditions to keep it alive starting in 1996.
@@okisoba OK. I just wanted to keep the story and history alive. I love this group of fighting Sailors! Much respect!!!
VF-84 was disbanded. End of story.
VF-103 took up the Jolly Rogers name, livery and history.
VF-103 converted to F/A-18F Super Hornets and became VFA-103.
The background song should be California dreaming
Love Those F-14 Tomcats.
Nah, not a dumb question. All of the footage here is real. That is an actual 747 and the F-14s are real ones from VF-84. I took out the "fake" portions of the 747 and F-14 segments from the movie. Other, more recent movies these days use a lot of CG probably because it's cheaper than using real jets and it's easier to get the shots and angles the directors want.
Can you upload the Stealth Bomber take off video from the same movie? Thx
Could you repost "Speed & Angels" back in HD I'm trying to make an F-14 edit with the best quality and can't seem to find it. It would be great!
I like the frame 👍
0:29 Sounds a bit like Star Trek
I didnt excpect to see you here psycho
Jerry Goldsmith did star trek movies soundtrack and this one , you can easily guess his own style
Finally some "new" footage of F-14 but I'm sceptic, the 747 doesn't blend well with the F-14's, looks either CGI or patch added if that make sense.
It is real. They just used a camera filter. You can look it up how this was all shot.
Edit: Actually it is not that easy to look up. Here is a book which gives some information on the specially painted 747 used for the flying sequences: books.google.com/books?id=Nh6TDAAAQBAJ&pg=PA81&lpg=PA81&dq=executive+decision+747+vf-84+scene&source=bl&ots=bZGxGeYp9v&sig=ACfU3U1zjfOqTW7JHedyHQsn_33pK5oPyw&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjE_Lq3nf7hAhWfJzQIHZkHDTw4ChDoATACegQICBAB#v=onepage&q=executive%20decision%20747%20vf-84%20scene&f=false
Now the US has only 2 747-200's left flying. That would be Air Force One and it's twin sister. Sadly there will not be any 747's left flying in the US. Got to spend 4 years aboard the Constellation CV-64 1985-89) with the VF0154 Black Knights, they had just switched over from the F-4 to the F-15 in Sept. of 85.
AHEM Jer, your "F"s are high for a ball, one and oh
When I left the navy in 1981, the tails were not black....hmmm!...we were on USS Nimitz cvn 68, now on 74... could be seen too far away...painted dull two tone grey
Last ride for VICTORY as VF-84, mate.
The best jet ever F-14 tomcat my favorite and 747 also 😊✈️
And to be honest, this is better than top gun intro but this is better to, if the danger zone music started playing would make this scene much better

0:34 this shot is clearly ripped from top gun, go look up the top gun intro and you will see this exact shot
No it's not. You can see the black tail and the Jolly Rogers insignia if you paused the video
These days, this would all be CGI.
