Mini Cree Led Q5 Ultrafire Flashlight Torch Adjustable Focus Zoom Light Lamp Thorough Review Part #1 - Хобби
Hi Rich! Enjoyed the review. I also have one of these but there is one very important feature you forgot. You know that lens on the end that is used to expand/shrink the beam? Well, it is obviously a GREAT magnifying device - which means that you can unscrew it and use it to start a fire in an emergency! I've already tested it and it works like a dream! In fact, ANY of these types of flashlights that contain that kind of lens will do the exact same thing! Great as a survival/bushcrafting tool. Just something I thought you should know and relate to your viewers. Thanks!
+Robert Reno Thanks for the brilliant idea. I am going to try this and make a video on it if works for me. Thanks again much appreciated.
+Richard Lloyd As a follow-up, it might be interesting for you to also contact the manufacturer and see what kind of power those lenses are for your review. I am betting it's at least 7x, maybe more. And if you add a little firecord paracord survival lanyard with those little fishing kits in it, then you'd have a pretty nice little set of survival tools at your disposal. Right? ;) Let me know when you put out that video. I'll be interested to check out your results! :)
+Robert Reno Looks like we have entered the monsoon season here in Texas not a lot of sun to try it out here lately but I will try it as soon as possible. Thanks.
This is what I call a review!! Thank you.
+Nelson Santiago You are most welcome. Thanks for watching.
I bought 3 of these for $6 on Ebay. 3 lights, 3 batteries, 3 single chargers. I love them. Only thing I would like to see different is I prefer a white light instead of blue.
These lamps are durable as heck too...My son need a lamp at night while looking for something in his car...I toss this lamp to him from the second floor on to asphalt drive way he didnt catch it ..he turned it on and it still worked no issues but a few scrapes. I must have bought atleast 20 lamps in the last 2 years...gave most away to relatives and some friends....and these lamps make great Vehicle glove compartment emergency lamps too.
I agree whole heartedly with you. They are a great value. Thank you for watching and the great feed back. All the best.
anytime
Sure am glad you got all your measurement devices out.
+Bak Draft You are welcome. Thanks for watching.
Glad you did such a great job!
I'm wondering how I could disassemble the tail cap. I'm trying to change this orange cap which seems to wear off, but have no idea how to disassemble it.
And would 14500 battery be much different from AA in brightness and lifespan??
Fantastic video. Very informative. Love it.
Awesome Review,Thanks a ToN... Ive got 2 of these, ...but they are the clones, ...Very Well Constructed, but didn't work too well,....however thanks to this vid I disassembled it to find there was grease on the head unit causing intermittent contact, .....also its not as bright as I would like...gonna try the 14500 battery, hopefully that will improve things.
Only thing I dont like about this unit is the end cap is a bitch to remove, gotta rough it up with a vise grip.
Good review. Thanks
+MrDragonfyr You are welcome. Thanks for watching and commenting.
good introduce of LED flashlight!
+longgoodlighting Thank you.
After a recent outage a week ago I had a flashlight but someone lost it...So I ordered this for whenever I need it or for fun uses.
They are very handy and surprisingly tough. Thanks.
Perhaps the best deal in flashlights out there, ive bought close to a dozen for myself and family and none have failed yet.Brands like thorfire stack the review deck on Amazon with solicited 5 star reviews, Ultra Fire doesnt have to
+Frank L I love this light. I have bought "similar" lights from several other suppliers and they are certainly not the same. I only trust the supplier in the video description at Amazon: amzn.to/1BwKFv7 Thanks
Can someone tell me, what size the hex screws that hold the clip on these flashlights is?
Where and How can i get Spare Head of the Flashlight as it stooped working... Plz help.
Is any way to make the flashlight stay at one mode ? I want mine to work on full power to play airsoft with the pressure button and its not good that every time you pressure it come another mode . . Thanks
Here is what they call a single mode Mini Cree Light at Amazon: amzn.to/2Trtc7B or eBay: goo.gl/GyvUmw Thank you for watching, commenting and the valuable feedback. I appreciate it greatly. All the best. 👍😀
Was wondering if you have any issues with the light flickering or changing modes? I'm trying to trouble shoot mine. I think the best I can do is clean the contacts on the switch and see if it helps?
You can also coat the internals with dielectric grease to keep the corrosion down. You can get it at Amazon: amzn.to/2lqbdZH
Jordan Lui I had dimming with a lithium battery shorting in this flashlight because there is no spring on the led chip the battery is making contact with solder not a spring it needs a spring or a thin flat disc of metal soldered on!
Great review just bought it at amazon for $3.54 I like its look and the zoom that's novel.
thumbs up! from me
Good one !
You are welcome. Thanks for watching.
Great review as always, bought 6 of these, I also ordered the set you`re reviewing and it seems to have got lost I transit, never mind, they`re great little pocket torches.
ps do they need to put an ad halfway through the video.
You are welcome. I can see why these lights get as good a review as they do. They are great little lights. You can have it in your pocket and hardly notice it and they are more than enough light for most uses. BTW I am using the 1.2 Volt NiMH rechargeable batteries instead of the Li-Ion as they last much longer. I understand your concern on the adds but that is what funds RUclips to stream all this great content for free. Now if we could only get cable and satellite TV to do the same at least here you don't pay to watch advertising (that drives me crazy). Thanks again for the kind comment and watching.
Richard Lloyd Thanks for the tip regarding batteries,
Yes the ads do pay for us to watch free so to speak. I don`t have cable or satellite, we do have here Freeview about 50 channels there`s enough rubbish on that to keep me busy. Cheers.
bmwnasher I agree. I have OTA (Antenna) TV here and get 18 channels of HD garbage for free here too. LOL. At least with RUclips you can watch something of value.
Richard Lloyd Good news the torch complete with charger and batteries like this arrived . Ordered three more on the 19 Dec and they arrived today. Not bad from Hong Kong . I've bought about 20 various types and everyone has worked . What more can you say.
bmwnasher That's great! They are a great value, they work well and are handy to have in your pocket. Really what more could you ask for? Thanks
how to replace the led if it is damaged ?
HEY I think that the fact that the 3.7 v. battery where only 5% brighter than the double A is that is limitated by the led circuit or the led itself reached its limit, so even if you put 5 , 6 or 7 volts it won't light brighter (before it'll break)
You are probably correct about that. Over driving the circuit will result in damage for sure. The LED can only output it's rated value and no more. Thanks.
Will using standard aa battery's from the shops work?
Yes a standard AA cell will work. I use rechargeable AA cells like these at Amazon amzn.to/1VG4IRt
For some reason mine doesnt have a strobe or lower light. It keeps staying on the normal mode.
Did you buy it from the same supplier? Thanks
This is a very detailled review of this torch.covers all the details...amazing detailled review
bhawana bhatt Thank you very much.
+Richard Lloyd protected 18650 batteries are 4 mm longer making them 69.0mm instead of the un protected 18650=65.0mm.....would protected fit this torch?
These are cool little flashlights. The only problem is there are fake 'copies' of them out there too........Buyer beware. As far as batteries go, it is cool that these flashlights don't absolutely require a 14500 battery--they can use a AA as well. As with any "tactical" flashlight, don't run it on high-setting all the time and the flashlight should work for a little while.
Thanks.
jkjed1 14500 battery make it any brighter?
Not really but the 14500 I had was a cheap knock off. The one I review in the video lasts much longer with the NMiH rechargeable battery. Thanks.
Hi, Sir. Ive bought one and I have doubt about how can I spread at 2:41sec.
Did you buy it using the link I provided? There are many copies available out there. Thanks.
I got it, thanks!!
n now, after 6months of using it, the lamp dont works at all .I bouth a new battery and nothing...
Mine came as a single mode. I only have AA's right now. My AA has a ton of wiggle room inside is that normal? The length is fine but it has about a quarter inch between the battery and the wall of the flashlight.
Is your light labelled as an UltraFire Q5 and did you use my link in the video description to buy it?
No I bought it before I found your video. It isn't an UltraFire. It says Cree with the box and everything on one side but where it says UltraFire on yours it has CE and a trashcan with a X over it.
Richard Lloyd also mine doesn't have the two notches in the chrome part to unscrew it. And my spring on the button is smaller. But I'm assuming it's not a fake because it came with the sticker on it and it has the small holes on the part that the pocket clip screws onto.
Neil Corbin I just bought an "off brand" Cree Q5 and I believe I bought the same light you have exactly. I am doing a head to head comparison with both of them. I blew the emitter on the Ultrafire so I have to use the same emitter for both of lights (LED) but that allows me to test the single mode "off brand" (Hausbell) flash light. So far the results are interesting but the Ultrafire is a superior build to the "off brand".
Richard Lloyd let me know how that goes! I might break down and buy the Ultrafire if it's worth doing so. Not sure yet.
Hi there!
great reviews!!
just wants to knwo if u can do a video pointing the changes between a fake UltraFire and a REAL one. there are so many fake torches out there and i think it would be wanderful. + do u know a seller on ebay that u can trsut on? thanks!
Thanks for the question. I have no way of knowing a real Ultrafire light from a fake one. I actually think these lights are probably manufactured by a few factories and branded to what ever the buyer wants. But I do like your question as it pertains to what you are actually getting. I took this light apart to examine the LED and found that it is a Cree XP-E LED (It is labelled as such and I confirmed it by looking at the LED too). At a 1000 mA Cree XP-E LED Q5 is capable of outputting 246 Lumen but I have no way of knowing for sure that it is a Q5 other than the manufacturer telling me so. I also don't currently know how many Amps the LED is being driven at. I may do a video on all of this to show the guts and test the Amp output. Regardless of all of this I still see spots after looking at this LED at full power from this light. It is a bright little light. Thanks
Same here. I bought one on eBay, claiming to be Cree and to have 1200 lumens (Less powerful than my 80-lumen headlight!) - looked identical minus the decals. Worked OK for one year and packed up.
I got this flashlight as gift and I can't open up bottom cap, it doesn't moves anyway... please help
Can you send it back? Otherwise try a set of pliers or vice grips. Wrap a heavy cloth around the cap to protect the cap from being marred by the tools. Do NOT use any heat on it. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.👍😀
i opened from front side, it was old and rusted inside and bottom cap was rusted and jammed :D thats why it didnot opened :/ thank you for attention!
Hi there:
I see every Flashlight but i look in the web, you have YF 14500, i look web they have only 18650? are they the same? please let know Thanks.
They are not the same the 18650 is larger to accommodate the larger battery. They still sell this kit with the YF 14500 batteries at Amazon amzn.to/1BwKFv7 and so far I have bought 4 different of these lights that look the same look and this one is still my favorite. The others are not as well built or they suffer some shortcoming that this light does not have. Thanks.
Hi Dear:
Thanks for told me where to get MiNi Cree Led Q5, Thanks gain
Hugh Wong You're welcome.
¿Son pilas triple A?
Se puede utilizar pilas triple A. Gracias
I can't see - is it fahrenheit or celsius?
It is Fahrenheit. Thanks.
the flashlight recist water?
Yes it is water resistant. You can use it in the rain but I would not submerge it in water. You can get the one I show on the video here at Amazon: amzn.to/1BwKFv7
Richard Lloyd thanks bro
Just got one. How long will the battery's take to charge? Thanks. ♂♀
+Jim Morgan It depends on the cell and the charger. Thanks.
Right on. Thanks.
how much lm is that?
They advertise 300 LM max. Here is the link to it at Amazon: amzn.to/1BwKFv7 Thanks.
The beam pattern is just oh so sexy.
Thanks.
Li-Ion lasted less for the same reason they cost little: they were flawed and in fact they can explode, etc. Can't paste text, so try googling "mtbr cree xm-l t6 exploded".
8thDay xml is what i bought it wont take AAs kinda pissed..
what battery does this take?
Dan Hart You mean the flashlight from the video? If so, I don't know (seems like AA). From what I've seen pretty much all chinese flashlights use adapter for 3xAAA or another adapter for 18650 (to make 3xAAA combo work), only pocket flashlights tend to use AA.
BTW, if you buy decent Li-Ion battery, buy decent charger because cheap chargers may be dangerous as well (read lygte-info.dk for more info). If you are into electronics, you can buy battery holder and TP4056 and solder those into decent charger, which according to lygte is awesome (1-2 USD; make sure to buy the one with protections against overcharge, discharge, shorting, etc.).
I bought 3 and 2 of of the 3 didn't work.
Emt Scythe Did you use the link in the description to purchase those lights? Thanks.
Mine gets very hot after 5 min. Is that normal?
+Green River Mine does not. Maybe others do. Thanks
Maybe there's a short? Mine had little aluminium filings that haad to be removed because they would sometimes short the battery. Is it the battery that's getting hot or the diode? If it's the diode, it's probably just a faulty diode.
cyancoyote It is the battery but now actually is dead, don't give enough energy to light the led.
I don't know if the problem was that cheap battery or the flashlight.
By the way... i've seen some videos of guys using a regular AA with this same flashlight but when i tried it did not work...
i got that in uv
hi, thanks for the awesome review of this torch...I have been wanting to buy a few of these, one to mount on to a carbine... and a few for some of my hiking/survival packs.... I don't really shop on amazon... I am a hardcore Ebay shopper... lol... just so much easier for me using Paypal... ive been skeptical to buy because I see quit a bit of differences on Ebay... and I dnt want to get scamed into buying one that will not be a True "UltraFire" I see a lot of them claiming 400, 600, 1000, and upto 1200 lm... how do I know which to buy...???I don't think I will want the charger... I would rather just run the strore bought batteries... anyhelp would be appreciated...thanks...
+MrGonzo22 There are many manufacturers of these lights/torches the only way I can guarantee you will get the torch I show in this video is by buying from the same source at Amazon amzn.to/1BwKFv7 Thanks.
i bought the knock off one and the only difference it didnt come with a battery
doug caro
is that the 2000lumen
They state 300 Lumen on the advertising at Amazon:amzn.to/1BwKFv7 I doubt highly that you could get a 2000 Lumen version. Thanks.
Let me tell you..these lamps are weapons mountable by removing the belt clip ...can be used on AR/AK platforms.....and people are spending over $100 on weapon lamps.....if one wants to save $, this lamp will do...all I know this lamp can withstand my Colt LE 6920 recoil...
Ive just come across these on ebay with the T6 led £3.70 each and free!!! postage, they use the 18650 battery, ive ordered some so i`ll let you know how they are,
They will be bigger if they take the 18650, right?
Richard Lloyd Yes a bit, 116 mm length. 30mm head dia. 23mm body dia, exact design as in your video here. if they`re T6 thats a good torch for the size.
bmwnasher Should be up to 1040 lumen max www.cree.com/~/media/Files/Cree/LED%20Components%20and%20Modules/XLamp/Data%20and%20Binning/XLampXML.pdf
Richard Lloyd Hope so i have much faith in the Chinese torches but not their fake batteries, i was thinking of getting that imax B6, loads of fake ones on the market , i found one guaranteed on ebay with the hologram security number to verify on line. might go for that.
Have read about Li ion batteries being shipped in sleep mode, once used can`t be put back to sleep?
bmwnasher My Imax B6 is one of the clones. I bought it before I knew any better. But it seems to work well. Not sure if the "authentic" Imax B6 is just another clone with a sticker on it. Remember these things are made in China. They can fake holographic stickers and charge you an extra $10.
I have heard a storage charge. I can't see them having a sleep mode (I could be wrong). They need to be shipped according to safety regs but the "sleep" mode sounds dubious. all of mine came with a 1/3 charge. Tell us how it goes.
a disposable $3 to $5 torch using 1.5V AA alkaline, what more could one want.
Just like buying a disposable color printer, no need for cartridges just buy another printer.
+Myles Nicholas Mine is still working great so it's not really disposable, yet. Thanks.
use Teflon tape
Thanks.
+Richard Lloyd I put teflon on one of the cheap Wal-Mart plastic ones and its completely waterproof
I an using Teflon pipe thread tape on my lights as well. It does help to seal them and also makes them come apart much more smoothly. I make sure not to cover the entire thread area as on my lights they require the metal to metal contact to complete the circuit. Thanks.
thats no strobe is SOS Code
Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate it greatly. All the best.
Actually you´re right!! the flashlight had a SOS Code and Strobe! :)
