Hi! Just wanted to share that I've won my first tournament ever, since I started going to local club competitions about 2 and a half years ago. It was a fairly low rated competition this time, but I was only the third highest rated player. Also, my best game, against the player who finished second, was a g4 line in the Jobava that I've learned from you. I finished it with a perfect 6/6 score. 😊
Think it was last year sometime I mentioned being unclear about the phrase “in these/such positions…” (I’m a beginner). In this and other videos GM Danya makes a point of explaining what it means. Greatly appreciated!🙏
Your videos helped me get from over 1100 to almost 1400 in rapid just by learning how to punish people who play the Bowdler against the Sicilian, thank you!
I remember watching the first game live on Twitch. Forcing white to dig their own grave and mating them with a queen that doesn't have or need a backup is absolutely brutal. Excellent ontent as usual Danya, thank you.
Beautiful conversion of the end of the first game. I feel like I would lose that often. Really great analysis to show the thinking. Keep up the great work.
I have watched this video twice becus I'm seriously making the Khan variation(e6) a relief from constant usage so welcome Najdorf variation🥰! Thanks GMDanya for sharing!
I'm 1700ish club player and would have 100 % NOT found that mate in 3 within 20sec. It is really nice to hear you explaining all these little things! :)
Love the videos, especially the first game having a complete end game. I've started playing the Glek a ton online and have realized that the Center Fork Trick is *insanely* common online. Even considering higher level games, the lichess database has black falling into the center fork trick 25% of the time! What's worse, only 11% of players actually properly punish it with Nxe5. I've run into this so often, I wonder if there is worth in an Opening Lab video about how to follow up on the position, similar to the King's Gambit video you've done. Could be helpful in getting this opening mistake out of people's brains (also, none of the current Opening Lab videos correspond w/ speedrun recommendations)
Hey Daniel, how did you study chess while simultaneously studying at the university? How did you manage to keep up your high level of chess? How did you study chess? How much time did you usually dedicate to chess? It will be really helpful to hear some advice, especially from a person like you!
Having compared the two, not even close... In this video, the sound is much more "ploppy" (think uncorking a wine bottle) and from what I can find online Grindr made a much more "guitary" sound.
On the subject of anti-anti-Sicilians, would be really cool to see your take on 2...e5 in the Alapin. I've found it a lot more fun than 2...d5 and it actually scores pretty well in the Masters database on Lichess (the main line with the exchange of Queens on d8 is 50% wins for Black, 30% draw). Also works as a great way to defuse the Morra.
While Tartakower was indeed born in Russia, he considered himself Polish (as far as I know) - at the very least he accepted the citizenship that was granted to him after Poland regained independence, moved to Warsaw from France, and was the captain and trainer of the Polish nat'l team. Obviously the concept of nationality has evolved over time and is somewhat nebulous anyway.
5:38 "The more trades happen, the better it is for us coz we are up a pawn". This concept confuses me a lot of the time, because actually many endgames are a draw with just 1 pawn difference, especially rook endgames which i guess are the most common. Is it really true that it is worth trading with just a pawn up?
The funny part is that I saw that b3 move off the bat but I never see those moves in my games. If I see another person playing I allow myself to think about all the crazy moves. the same goes for puzzles
Forgive me, can someone copy the comment that listed all the lessons from our danya-sensei. I swear i found it in his videos somewhere before but where?
GM Quinteros notwithstanding, the ex-patriate Polish players led by the great GM Miguel Najdorf were largely unsuccessful developing a chess school in Argentina. My guess is that post-War politics was involved, but who knows?
That first check mate was ice cold - "dig his own grave"
Forcing the opponent to mate themselves with 15 seconds on the clock, while calmly explaining all the moves to a live audience. What a gangster.
i was like daaamn... GM Danya is a beast
Daniel Speedrun vid = good day
Seconded!
Perfect since there’s no candidates!
Correction: great day.
Great week of rewatching and learning 😂

how much was the prize money
13:55 That's why i love these videos. I'd never notice that mate in 3 on my own 😅
Yes, that and pinning the pawn to win it was very instructive. Hopefully I can use that in my future games
would've won, but never in 3 moves; when I see a winning line, I go for it, but yeah, great mate in 3 I didn't think of at all
“We’re getting an open Sicilian…and a Najdorf..and [disappointed] this is a third-rate version…”
I thought this was a video regarding the prevention of extremism against Sicilians.
In north Italy they aren't that uncommon! The anti-terrone
13:52
Checkmate: ❌️
Force white to dig his own grave: 🥶🥶🥶😤🤧
Great introduction to the najdorf. Played this when I was a kid in the 1960s. Just now going back to it. Thanks

that first checkmate was really cool

Me too, maybe peo[le will stop one day

Finally that moment
I really can't thank you enough for sharing your joy and knowledge of this game. I appreciate this very much! Keep up the great work, thanks again.
You are the best chess teacher at least for me because you show everything practically. Also a fan of your commentary.
Beautiful conversion of the end of the first game. I feel like I would lose that often. Really great analysis to show the thinking. Keep up the great work.
Please never stop posting these speedruns 🙏🏻
it's nice to see how you walk along this elegant stroll
Your chess knowledge blows my mind. History, tactics, calculations. Much respect 🙏
Danya you don’t know how much I love these videos, seriously man every time you post I get so happy. You are such a treasure.
I relate 👍
I have watched this video twice becus I'm seriously making the Khan variation(e6) a relief from constant usage so welcome Najdorf variation🥰! Thanks GMDanya for sharing!
I'm still digesting the b3 tactic! Just amazing! Love these videos! 10/10 every time.
So much foresight, such cold execution. Makes me want to get better at chess!
Amazingly instructive.
Every time I watch Danya, I learn a new thing! Thank you!,
I'm 1700ish club player and would have 100 % NOT found that mate in 3 within 20sec.

Daniel is a really good teacher
beautifully educational content and expert analysis, thanks danya :)
Ser Daniel Naroditsky ❤
Came for the chess, stayed for the rich vocabulary and fluent English. I can listen to you talking all day long mate!
I’ve started playing/studying the Najdorf…this is excellent.
well done. very nice job !
Appreciate your work!
So many good information ❤
Hiya Danya- thanks for the vids👍👍
you inspired me to start playing the najdorf even though its very theory heavy I wanted to commit to a challenge
13:30 that checkmate is cool
You’ve started picking up Gm Leko’s “the big question” phrase 😀
Great stuff
Danya: Ok, our opponent is playing a 3rd-rate sideline....
Opponent: I don't like trading my pieces, so I'm going to move this knight back
Excellent video

this is like breaking an egg with a sledgehammer. there should be an icon for speedrun
You're our champion Danya
4:51 LMAO @ the sound
"Welcome to a short, late night episode" *50 minute episode*
Danya looks so youthful when well rested
31:34 was that a grindr sound?
You tell us
How would you know? Hmmmm 🤔
Also I could definitely see Danya being gay. Nothing wrong with that.
Having compared the two, not even close... In this video, the sound is much more "ploppy" (think uncorking a wine bottle) and from what I can find online Grindr made a much more "guitary" sound.
Sign of a good day to me
Please more and more on Sicilian
Agreed!
+ one
What beautiful mate
40:20 You won the chess, but white won connect six.
Heartbreaking

Few things in chess are as satisfying as a queen sacrifice into pawn promotion
That first mate was 👌🫶🫡
I love how you talk about a pawn structures in several openings then say pawn structures are overrated!
I think you mean double pawns can be good :)
Talk about a good Friday eh

botvinik setup is very nice
Nice suit buddy.
Min 6:55 engine says best is Bd4+ Kh1 Bxf6
Danya "why are you hitting yourself" Naroditsky
34:53 -- Danya's disapproval of wasted tempi is palpable.
Awesome stuff. Thank you Daniel for revealing a goldmine of knowledge in the art of chess! 🙏🌱🐬
Still loving the speedrun, but I'm curious what you're opening recommendations would be for more positional players.
Well, looks like bedtime will be 50 minutes later 😅
😆
Where is our 2 hour long Damiano video Danya
5:38 "The more trades happen, the better it is for us coz we are up a pawn". What are some books you recommend in studying theory on the najdorf?
yup
I enjoy Najdorf videos
Ah nice
No such thing as boring us to death with opening theory. Give us the juice
how do you actually study an opening? Like do you just have to watch a bunch of games or do you need to be taught?
Does someone know when Danya explained why he went back playing to the Sicilian in the speedruns rather than the caro kann?
What do you think roughly when will the KID course drop
Is Danya working on a KID course!?
i had a dream where i was playing against you in the same setting lol
Forgive me, can someone copy the comment that listed all the lessons from our danya-sensei. I swear i found it in his videos somewhere before but where?
Thanks for posting again ☺
36:45 didn't danya lose a pawn here? Knight can take attacking the queen with the bishop while the knight is defended by a pawn
Danya goes into it around 47:00
Does anyone know if Danya is working on a new course?
Why is the N in Daniel backwards in the intro? I’ve never noticed that before.
🎉🎉🎉
31:30 doesn't this look like an ideal King's Indian Defence with an F5 pawn break?
danya you look slimmer than usual, i hope everythings okay
What a great day praise the lord
I know the e5 variation as "Kalashnikov variation"
That's 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 e5
GM Quinteros notwithstanding, the ex-patriate Polish players led by the great GM Miguel Najdorf were largely unsuccessful developing a chess school in Argentina. My guess is that post-War politics was involved, but who knows?
I think it has to do with chess culture in South America in general.
@@arleyantes9321 could be, though if that wasn't going to change it then maybe nothing could
It’s a rest day… but not for meeeeee
❤
A beautiful meatphor for real life at 40:00
SKEV-i-nin-gen. Accent on first syllable.
maybe we can get more ruy lopez instead of glek in this speedrun
Can we have a conversation about the hypermodernists?
The second game is just visually speaking really funny. b3 gets a !!
You know you're playing a gm when they move kc7 with 1 piece developed xd
i thought this speedrun he would be doing the kings indian for black
