Final word......it already had an insert in it. Not advertised but caused the confusion. Shoots 7.62 x 39 beautifully. Mag works too. Thanks for all your help!
I had a friend that got one from a surplus company, I think Century. It had the adapter already installed. It worked fine with live and blank ammo, until it didn't. The adapter ejected at some point and he never found it. Seems like a brass catcher might be a good measure, but what a pain. I wonder if this eventually always happens and how many rounds they typically stay in place for.
Not sure about the number of rounds The ejection of the ring is discussed in the instructions so I guess at some point it is a possibility. Hasn't happened to me yet after several hundred rounds
If you really want it to stay put, use the green Loctite it for bearings and races, you'll need extreme heat to remove it. You can remove red Loctite with moderate heat.
Bought a VZ 52 years ago. Acquired original Czech military ammo. Very disappointed in the accuracy, when shooting it. At 50 yards couldn't keep 10 rounds on a 9" paper plate. The fit of the rifle in the stock seemed to be the problem. No matter how much I tightened the receiver to the stock. There always seemed to be enough play that the receiver could move between shots.
And to be sure, the head space bolt should have be driven all the way up into the chamber. Yes? No excess headspace bolt visible sticking lout into the receiver?
Very cool! Interesting rifle. And I agree...shoot those rifles. They're beautiful pieces to hold and look at and just love! But I like to have love reciprocated back at me whether it's a mule kick recoil or tac drivin' down range! That comes from shootin' em! So do what ya gotta do and good luck! I'm trying to convert 350 Legend to 5.45x39...AK74 round. That Russian ammo ban you mentioned, skyrocketed that cartridge to nearly a dollar a round....talkin' steel here smh! I can get 60-70% ejection rate. The other 30-40% get smashed by the bolt because the extractor can't grip the smaller 350L rim enough to bring it back to the ejector pin! The bolt loses grip of the case after it clears the chamber causing it to be suspended around the ejection port and then it's smashed by the bolt coming home! I'm almost there!
I love to hear these stories too. Good luck. History is more than something you hang on a wall and if you van figure out a way to bring g it back to life you have honored it
One thing that may help: take some 0000 sandpaper and polish the headspace so as to facilitate the "staying in place Of the insert ring during the first slam of the bolt forward. Small burrs and irregularities on the headspace can cause the ring To slip out while the loctite is still fully liquid
@@mudroomgunswithtom ok how about JB weld? I just don't want the ring to pop out as people have experienced. And don't see myself ever selling this rifle
I agree with you as to modifying your toys to make them useful, military arms are seldom even close to being safe queens. The gun is for me, not me for it!😃
Yes I could continue to look for 7.62x45 in vain or make it so I could make it so I could fire it and enjoy it. History is still there ring can be removed
If one does this conversion does the collar or chamber in any risk of breaking? What I’m asking is should someone buy an extra conversion chamber just in case?
Ok, now I have a problem. When I load a 7.62 x 39 cartridge in the chamber around a quarter inch of cartridge is still sticking out. This is with the sleeve already (successfully?) Inserted. What is wrong? Thanks in advance.
It's ok if the ramming cartridge is not flush with the surface of the chamber. I just looked at mine and it sticks out about a 1/4 inch. Did you try releasing the bolt on it? ona a 7.62 cartridge? The bolt should close all the way and be flush. That is the way mine works and it shoots fine. I think it has to do with the way the face of the chamber is a nipple kind of and interaction with the bolt. Write me at mudroomguns@gmail.com and I will send you a picture of mine.
I took my bolt out and if you do the same you will see the round HAS TO stick out or it will not sit flus against the firing pin and the extractor. The bolt face is concave. Everything is cool. The bolt face and the surface of the entrance to the chamber is not the same as a lever/bolt action.

your welcome. It is a great rifle I love it. People at the range are very interested in it

Thanks for the video.. I've had the adapter for some time and you've inspired me. Great explanation sir
Thank you. It made the differene between a shooter or a wall hanger
Currently redoing my VZ-52 can't wait to install the conversion
Life is good. Still going strong

Just got my vz 52 today and already have my insert on the way. We will see!
You are going to love it
Be sure to get a good clean of chamber with alcohol or acetone to get all the oil off
Thanks for the video! I'm buying one this week and I'm gonna convert it! Take us shooting one day please!
I love mine. When i go shooting i always take a dozen rifles with me.
@@mudroomgunswithtom please take a video shooting the VZ52. You've got me pretty excited about this rifle!
I will probably not for a few weeks though. I need a ride parkinsons won't let me drive too far.

@@mudroomgunswithtom Agree and well said!

Great video! The ring still holding? Im debating asking my gunsmith to install the ring. Would soldering or welding be better than loctite? Thanks
For me the idea of the locktight is that it is not permanent and also will not alter the chamber like solder or welding would do.
@@mudroomgunswithtom ok how about JB weld? I just don't want the ring to pop out as people have experienced. And don't see myself ever selling this rifle
@@spetsnaz85 I would call the company and ask. I wouldn't personally do anything that could damage the chamber. The company may have some ideas
Good stuff- doing this to mine. I have the kit.
Fun shooting

No the ring shou)d be enough
Appreciate your video!
Thank you
Great video! Very helpful
Thank you
Well sounds like the wife needs to go and start getting few more guns ..just my thought on all this
Ha Exactly. My collection has grown some since then. In fact yesterday bought a springfield 1903. Onward and upward. Ha
Thanks for the video.
Did you experience any feeding issues?
None yet. Goin ti the range agai in 2 weeks.

@@mudroomgunswithtom yes indeed thank you!
how has it been working so far? Has the ring ever popped out in the time you've shot it?
So far so good sir. At least a few hundred through
How is treating the rifle a few months later?
I have put a couple hundred rounds through it now and still operating as promised
Where can I get a insert
I got mine from Numrich but I just looked and they are not in stock
Sorry...irregularities on the headspace cartridge can yank the ring out.
I guess I just didn't have that problem. Good point though
Be really carful using abrasives in your chamber. Increasing it's size even .001 inches xan muck it up permenanr like
Yes did not mean to imply doing anything but cleaning chamber. The chambers dimensions are there for a reason.
