Wow, Claire rocked the moderating role. She should do it more often.
"women of Whedon" has a whole different ring to it now
It's such a complicated issue.
He was an A-hole, a toxic boss it sounds like, not very committed to his marriage.
But he also was a very talented, successful writer, creator, and producer.
Assuming he wants to learn, grow, and repent (which he absolutely needs to do): isn't there space in our society for forgiveness? There are people like Bill Cosby and Harvey Weinstein... but there are people like Whedon who sounds terrible to work, casually cruel, but didn't exactly commit any crimes.
@@dante6985 he's a mediocre Shakespeare snob with one note one trick pony writing/characters who used his power to bully intimidate abuse &take advantage the women around him under the guise of being a magnanimous male "feminist"
a "man" who even after he was unveiled tried to gaslight &bully his way out of it BTS.. screw him &his road to recovery.
It had a similar ring to it back then as many of us knew what he was really all about &how he worked his way through the women in his shows.. these two included. but for the most part it was very "it's none of our business" &these are grown women choosing to let this creep do what he does..
Emma seems like she was not on board with what Jewel was saying about Joss. LOL.
Amy Acker, probably the best actress in the world. Her work as Winifred Burkle, Illyria and Clare Saunders (Whiskey) demonstrated her diversity, immense talent and ability to deliver any compelling character in very convincing ways. Flawless performance.
I hope Amy Acker ends up in some absurdly profitable franchise such as the MCU or gets her own leading role in a TV series so that we she can continue to amaze us all.
Yeah me too I agree too. Oh wait...
You need to watch Person of Interest and see her as Root, she is amazing!
I've seen a lot of things with her in them but I haven't watched Person of Interest yet, I heard Amy Acker is in the new X Men movie as a mother of one of the mutants. I am happy, but... she definitely needs to be a mutant. These directors and writers do not know what Amy Acker's depth is, they need to give her more roles. I would dye her hair blonde and give her the Supergirl role in DC.
X-Men TV show. Yeah, her as just a mum is boring!
Absolutely, but you know Amy Acker in one scene will make a 'mum' character not boring at all. And with good writing, I think Amy Acker will probably take the limelight straight away. Especially with a lot of new young actors that don't really have the talent she has. As long as she doesn't die in the script, I think the writers themselves will understand what we know soon enough.
amy amy amy amy...!! sooooo beautiful and sweet!
and you go back to Person Of Interest and she kicks buts, sociapath and bitchy. JESUS I'M IN LOVEEE.
She's like that in Alias too. Cold, evil killer. Admittedly more fun to watch than Fred overall.
WTF, no love for Claire Kramer in the description? She was basically the star of the whole of Buffy Season 5.
abnzg I love Clare
Claire Kramer was great as Glory, though she admits that she didn't fully understand the character until the latter half of the season. I think there was a lot more to Glory then the TV series could portray, if only there were more seasons! Bring Claire back for Season 8 Buffy ^-^
I would support that, I mean what choices do we have as favourites. The Mayor, The Master, The First, Adam... and I can never bring myself to say Angelus or Dark Willow... because thats the cheat answer imo.
I like her too.
Glory is kinda cool but my favourite villain is The Mayor. Generally I liked season 5 the least because I really couldn't stand Dawn.
I really wanted to see more of Amy as Illyria in Angel.
@fmacanadaguy if you still want to see more of Amy Acker's character, Illyria, you can check more of her in the continuation of Angel: Season 6 - After The Fall comic book series which was published by IDW. The comic book series shows what happens to Team Angel the events after that scene in the dark alley while they were standing in the pouring rain taking on the Senior Partners.
I love Jewel's take on the whole Black Widow situation, love herrrr!!!
Awww Amy's story about Andy was cute, but I felt so bad for her... you can tell it's a sore subject :(
Joss knows how to pick them.
we need Illyria back, she was incredible
All 3 of these ladies are probably my favorites of their respective shows. Love these ladies.
Amy acker is my favorite person
4 of the coolest ladies ever!!!
When "Wesley" died in "Illyria's" arms, and she pretended to be "Fred" again one last time for him in "Angel" final episode..I nearly cried like a bitch and I'm a grown-ass man lol....She could still come back know and carry on the role, Amy hasn't aged. I think in a fight, demon god vs demon god, Illyria would probably just about beat Glory, especially before she had her powers reduced in Angel....fully juiced-up she was lethal....I wonder who'd win between Caleb & Hamilton?....
it doesn't sit right with me how they all defended joss here. i feel like emma didn't agree with the others through, just off of her expressions :)
They're all nice but I have to say Jewel slayed the interview. I've always admired her job as an actress but for some reason I had never watched any of her interviews and I just found out she's ever better as a person than she is as an actress. Mayor respect!
Agreed! I love her no bullshit persona. It's refreshing to see that coming from an actor.
And she's been in the biz since she was 5 yo? Hard to imagine, honestly.
Jewel, as a person/ a soul, is living up to her name beautifully :)
Jewel is appropriately named. I met her a couple of times at conventions. She was always warm, friendly, kind and an awesome person to be around.
The moderator is killing it in the video. Fantastic as well as the rest of the cast.
She played Glory in season 5 of Buffy
Amy was great as Fred. I loved Anya and Jewel Staite was really good as Daisy in a show called "Higher Ground."
I just want to give Emma a hug, she soooooooooo doesnt want to be there.
she could have declined, she got paid to be there.
@@MrCr86 let me know when you next turn down the offer of paid work. We dont know her financial status, alot of these scifi actors literally pay their mortgages with conventions.
What? Are you serious?
It is like saying a person accepted a job in costumer service but this person will be rude and look like he doesn't want to be there.
If you dont want to be there, dont be there. If she needs the money she should be happy!
@@MrCr86 youve obviously never had a job that you dislike but need the money.
Oh and customer service jobs always have ppl that dont want to be there and are only doing it for the money.
Also thats not even going into the fact that this is called "women of whedon", after all the revelations recently, i cant imagine being called a woman of Whedon is especially thrilling for her.
@@paulwilliammonks1 Ahh I see now, your argument is who care about those people who send their hard earn money to be there in order to see her engage in a conversation. those little people are not important only the celerity is important.
We complain about the people that work in customer service and done want want to be there because 99% of the time they are doing a lousy job. stop being a grifter.
If she has a problem with the name of the panel and dont want the be there she should not be there. But she decided to be there so she should at
Jewel Strait played Catalina in Space Cases.
Am I the only one who noticed Emma looks like she was nursing serious hangover.
This panel was fantastic but Emma definitely looked like she was hurting so I got to give it up to her for getting through this
I had no idea Jewel Staite has such an amazingly dry sense of humor.
Amy Acker played mainly played Fred on Angel which became Illyria at the very end.
She also played Dr. Saunders on DOLLHOUSE and she was in that Shakespeare adaptation that Joss did.
Ya she mentioned teachers playing Much Ado in their classrooms.
Amy is so fine
Illyria vs glory would be one hell of a battle the city would be demolished in the battle.even a depowered illyria was physically stronger than buffy.
Emma would've been a good "Claire Dunphy" on "Modern Family"
Joss Whedon has written great and diverse female characters and I get that some women were hurt by the scene, where they understood, Black Widow was comparing women, who couldn't get pregnant, to monsters. As a woman, who is not able to have children of her own, I have to say, I never understood that scene that way. Natasha was telling, what was done to her and in the process of making her into a killing machine (= the monster) they removed her reproductive organs. When she asks Bruce "Who is the monster now?" she doesn't mean, she is a monster, because she couldn't have kids, but she was altered in every possible way with horrible consequences to become an assassin.
Jewel's so wonderful, but I'm bias, she grew up just down the road from where I live + plus I don't have TV by choice and don't know the other two.
The Women of Whedon are still Gorgeous 😍😍😍
ok i have too say i love all the women josh pick for his cast but i had a crush on all of them too me that show just had beautiful strong women emma's role in darkness fall i love fred cause she was just the small town girl that grew into herself and play her role on angel perfectly and clair reminded me of those mean high school girls you love too hate jewel i cant remember what character she was too start with
Go Jewel. I agree with you. I love Whedon's female characters.
The only 2 who ever appeared on the same show were Clare Kramer and Emma Caulfield on Buffy.
Well Amy Acker and Jewel Staite have both appeared in Supernatural as well but it was only individual episodes and al long time apart.
A pair of Glory-ous Goddesses, an engineer who makes MY "engine" race, and a gal I WISH for.
嗯
Is Comicon Moderator Claire's new job or something? Shes in a lot of con videos, some not Whedon related.
Can we get a part where Jewel Staite can curse profusely? I would watch 10 seasons of that.
monthe christo hahaha
So Emma wants to play Inara from Firefly?
If Firefly had been allowed to live longer, who knows, maybe Emma would've popped up as a companion at some point.
This did not age well
Wow, Emma's grasp on physics saddens me a bit lol. She thinks bullets move slower in space? I still like her though. That is whole lot of pretty on that stage. Amy has always been my fav though.
She didn't know what non-fiction meant lol
Emma Caulfield looks like she'd rather be anywhere else but there.
I met here at Fanexpo in Toronto maybe 10 years ago, I was so excited to meet her but sadly she was so rude, it took me like maybe tops 10 seconds (focusing etc.) to take a selfie with her and she was annoyed that it took that long for me to press the buttons.. "Are you done?" there was no line up too. Wasn't a huge fan after that, I tossed the 60 dollar autograph into my closet as soon as I got home.
@@AT0MICtv Doesnt mean anything to be honest, they're all human, maybe she was in a bad mood, bad day.. anything could've happened. Or maybe she's just a total dick
Claire Kramer- "Did anybody else know Buffy was a robot?"
That's my favourite line of hers!
why are they talking to glorificus?!
This aged like milk
Yeah, Emma's stoned. When in Denver....
I met Jewel Staite once (sorta twice) at a grocery store (I won't say which for her privacy) and wow she was so wonderful and forgiving of a total fanboy nerdo. The funny part is I worked there as a loss prevention officer (busting shoplifters) so I was pretending to shop for yams and I look up and see her with her husband. I was so dumbstruck I did not say her name I was just "You..uh..actor in firefly?" She was so nice, and even reassured me I was not bothering her. However, as I worked there five days a week I saw her again a few days later and was scared she thought I was stalking her so I would hide in the make-up isle whenever she came in after that haha. I'm so cooooool.
It's a tragedy that she isn't on a t-shirt? You need to look that word up
"Whores in Space with Guns" That was a long set up but a huge payoff! 😂😂That's Norm McDonald level pro comedy right there folks.
. . . & I'd pay to see it. Lol
Glory got hot :O
"got"?
I loved Anya. She's my favorite character. I loved Emma. But...the more I see her in the role of con individual, it seems like she doesn't care to be there. It makes me not really fancy her anymore. I hope she was just tired as she came in late and looked breathless.
Colin Beerbower I think she probably just struggles with anxiety or depression or low self-esteem. I don’t think it’s because of any ill intentions or arrogance.
I read her as really socially awkward. I think it’s a mixture of anxiety and slightly subpar social skills. She seems really sweet and sociable with people she’s comfortable around.
let the actors talk.....
This aged well.
Well the title certainly feels weird now LOLOL
Funny how they all Praise Josh at every opportunity, credibility matters
To be fair, it seems Joss had issues with SOME on the cast the others did all right with him. A favoritism system. Not good but some made out better than others
Whose credibility is in question?
Wow, they look the same.
It's almost like people were going out of their way to feed into his ego and keep that little cult of personality going.
I mean at some point people need to accept others had a hand in him becoming who he was.
I thought Dawn was great: "Anchovies Anchovies your so delicious, I love you more, than all the other fishes" -nom- Dawn
Emma straight up acts like she isn't into this panel... body language?
She’s hungover
Am I the only one who thinks that Claire Kramer looks like Katherine Heigel here?
I don't think Jewel is answering the same question as the audience member asked. Depictions in popular media matters. They can have an affect on the real world. Whedon fans (myself included) love to point this out in the positive. I proudly cite Buffy as an influence on my feminism. Well, the inverse can be true as well. Negative depictions of women can have a negative affect on people. Hell, that's why Buffy was such a breath of fresh air, because there were so many negative portrayals of women and this one was positive. So it's entirely something us as fans sitting behind a keyboard can talk about. It's our responsibility to talk about it and hold creatives accountable. If we don't we risk negative depictions continuing to shape the real world in negative ways.
So the issue the audience member seemed to want an answer on was whether Whedon's depiction of women in AoU was good or not. I didn't take Natasha's comments about being a monster in the same way others did. But the fact that it was easily interpreted as negative probably means the depiction wasn't done very well. I mean, it's freaking Marvel and the Avengers. It's not like subtlety is a defining characteristic of the characters, plots, or themes. So yeah, Whedon didn't seem to live up to his reputation in, at the very least, leaving a depiction of the ONLY major female character open to (good faith) negative interpretation.
What's painfully hilarious about this is the three women have all been whedon "victims" at different points
but they all process it VERY differently
Amy: the pushover sweet pliable non confrontational
Jewel: doesn't seem to have a submissive bone at first glance but she self admittedly craves direction &submits to the whims of those she considers powerful in order to balance out being a strong capable feminist.
Clair.. sigh.. if I speak I be in trouble so I won't. I just hope she's ok.
I hope they all are. Sometimes these things are just that.. things.. things that happen. Sometimes these things affect different ppl differently.. not everyone's a Charisma or Michelle.. everyones tolerance or perceptions is different to an extent.
oh bukan rambut kuning pasangan nabi muhhamad didalam kibtlat subhannallah
People who bash characters like Black Widow (or their treatment by writers) don't really want equality or diversity. They simply want to fine tune and control what is acceptable. Equality and diversity should be about accepting what you don't necessarily like (whether it be fictional characters, art, sexual orientation, etc..). I know this was a short somewhat badly formulated comment, but that comment about Age of Ultron was just a tipping point (having heard similar stuff for a long time I finally needed to air my opinion).
I have no idea who the woman is sitting next to Amy lol the brunette
She's from Firefly :)
Kaylee from Firefly.
The character of Kaylee was so young and sweet. Sadly Jewel has morphed into a full on Karen.
Watching this in 2021... Is Emma Caulfield not in the mood to be there? She just seems so disinterested or giving off "whatever" vibes whenever Jewel is speaking.
Its hella weird cuz I want all of them to have a good time on the panel together.
Could also be cuz she's on a Panel with Amy, who undoubtedly has a larger fan base... therefore more attention.
ACTUALLY: I don't feel like Emma and Jewel got along, here. They just don't react to each other's stories the way Amy does.... Im probably overthinking it LOL
I think maybe now we have some insight on why Emma always appears so unhappy being at these conventions... knowing how the set of Joss's shows were now. I had always heard rumors about some things Charisma had gone through because of him, even 16+ years ago.... but I truly thought they were only rumors until now. :(
@@cruzinbosco Then why'd she show up and attend a thing called 'The Women Of Whedon'? I mean it doesn't look good for her if she knew.
@@d-logan5280 money. or she didn't wana be weird.. you'd be surprised how many ppl do thinks due to peer pressure or expectations
@@d-logan5280 also love how u try to shift blame to the woman for showing up to a convention rather than the guy who was DOING all the BS.. how typical
@@o-wolf Whedon is infinitely worse. There given him his blame.
Now to shift back to a member of a group you appear to think is above blame- women. What kind of person tells the world someone is great when they're actually a monster just for a financial incentive or because they ... Didn't wanna look silly?
Like if you vouch for someone you know to be untrustworthy, do you not deserve any of the blame if someone who was foolish enough to trust you gets hurt?
Well I suppose not if you're a woman. They're above criticism apparently.
Why is Jewel there?
Firefly
didn't Emma screw Josh? (not literally)- she was bored with the show, wanted out so he killed her character. I would feel she was ungrateful if i were Josh
T Fuller bathe show was already ending, she asked to be killed because of the spin offs, there were like 3 spin offs on the works at the moment
When they interviewed the whole cast for Entertainment Weekly she said she found out she was dying when she read the script.
My understanding was that Joss treated Emma badly and thus she wanted out of any possible spin off or movies
7:30 where meryl streep is full of ****
jebes909090 ???
I don´t care about Marvel crap. Joss Whedon is awesome (BTVS, Angel, Firefly, Dollhouse).
The Cabin In The Woods was the last Joss Whedon project that truly felt like a Joss Whedon project to me.
I might be imagining things, but Emma and Jewel really don't like eachother. Their body language seems a bit off
"All of his work, it seems, to have completely gone away because of this?" What the fuck are you talking about? The fandom has grown through out the years. Joss Whedon's work isn't going anywhere. It lives on.
Angry feminists are just the most vocal so the backlash is louder than anything.
That comment has nothing to do with feminism. It's just incorrect.
I think she meant people behave as if all of his work was for nothing for one mistake.
People are acting like he's not a real feminist because he wrote and directed one film that had a bad female part.
They were saying some people are miscounting his past work because of it. Sounds like you misunderstood
Amy & Jewel - two of my favorite Whedonverse sweeties. Oh, and Jewel, please eat a sammich.
Whedon doesn't get enough credit for his work with women and feminism. I bet he could have done a billion times better with the star wars franchise.
You know what. I'm sure a year ago your opinion was little different than mine. So fuck off with your holier than thou attitude. Wonder Woman was a sexist concept from it's inception and there is little that could have been done to save it.
Emma doesn't seem into it or into jewel either lol
"The Victims of Whedon"
The enablers of Whedon?
Victims of?
amy acker is a smoke show.
HUH?
The title of this video aged poorly
Yeah this didnt age well
This just came up in my recommendeds and I thought the same thing. I do wonder what Amy and Jewel think of all that is happening. They both seemed genuinely close to Whedon and likely had no clue what was happening to their peers and even if they did probably only got Whedon's version of events. I bet they're feeling very conflicted right now.
@@clickyable1469 Jewel liked Alan's tweets defending him so I assume she still feels the same way. This may sound caustic, but I don't blame her. People have different sides to them. We've ALL been assholes at some point. No need to define someone entirely by THOSE moments, This whole "scandal" has been blown way outta proportion.
Yikes!
yang rambutnya di sanggul mayat yang disamping nabi muhhamad yang ada di dalam kiblat allah maha besar kepalanya tersambung kembali amin ya raabil alamin
That Emma chick really doesn't have a grasp of physics or science does she?
Emma looks awful
"women of whedon"
CRINGE 👀
@Edward Stevenette you don’t read a lot of news, do you champ?
@Edward Stevenette Ever notice how people like you only ever criticize women like this? Other people do.
This aged badly
