Me too. I took a dance exercise class years ago. We would learn a little 16 step routine and run through it multiple times. Sometimes I would forget the moves in the middle of the routine! I am AMAZED at performers who can remember every little move in multiple routines.

If you do it enough times it comes natural.
Paula is a monster dancer and choreographer. One of the best really. Her dance performances are in the realm of greatness.

Plus, she became choreographer for the Lakers Girls, she's choreographed the Oscars. And she's won many awards.

@@snowblo1 What do you base your opinion on? I don't think you know what underrated means. It means no one appreciates your talent. But EVERYONE respected Paula's dancing & choreography and she was given many awards for it.
She became a joke on American Idol because she seemed high and out of it half the time. But literally no one ever talked about her dance ability. So no, not underrated, by any stretch of the imagination.
I love how Paula is just ALL BUSINESS here. She is so zoned in. And Janet is an absolute talent.
Is it just me or did Janet slay those moves after learning it for the first time? I'm a dancer and it would have taken me 3 tries, with the broken down version, to get it. Am I the only one who thinks she's amazing?

This wasn't the first time. There are moments in this where Janet anticipates the movement (such as 2:13), revealing that they've gone over this a few times before this particular moment was recorded. So, don't beat yourself up. Repetition is key in learning choreography.

She’s a really good teacher-she really gives them the detail and generally seems a lot more patient than a lot of dance teachers I’ve known. And Janet just looks so pure and happy. She must be protected.

Wow what a treat this footage is. I think people forget Paula's contribution's to the dance world. People also forget just how talented Janet is. Remember Janet had to make her own lane after her brothers, she dancers and sings at the same time, her videos and music are and always will be iconic!.

Paula's really sweet in person, also....I was sitting with friends in a hotel lounge after a concert we did (we're all classical musicians) and we saw Paula by the elevator waiting to go up. We got up our courage and waved and said we were fans...she couldn't have been nicer to us, waved back and said "thanks, guys!" with a huge smile. And this was late at night and we were all tired....she could have just ignored us!
Paula is so talented. She’s completely underrated. American Idol never promoted her as the talent between those 3 judges. And watching her choreograph young Janet is so iconic. Two literal greats together 😍😍

I love this! I was the coach of a high school dance team for many years. When I saw the head rolls, I thought, yes it is late 1980's! I met Paula Abdul several times before she became a "star". She was part of dance team world. I am always rooting for her!
I tried to take a class like this in college for “fun”. Yeah right. It was so hard.
So did I. I thought I was an okay dancer until a hip hop class showed me flames.

You have to admit, Paula's choreo REALLY is distinctive. You immediately know it's hers when u see it in music videos. And she was so young! Usually dancers get a chance later on after their career is dying a bit with more experience. She hit the choreo circuit nearly immediately.
