I love her. She is one of my icons and I agree she doesn’t get all the credit she deserves, along with Debbie Allen. These people have brought so much to dance and entertainment and, therefore, to ordinary people’s lives. Cx 😊
I like her music, but my *GOD* what this woman can do on the dance floor. She's legendary. SO unbearably underrated, as a choreographer and as a person.
Diane Madison Yes! And not only that but she was asked to pick one extra from the hundreds who wanted the part. Her pick? Cuba Gooding Jr. He's in the Barber shop getting his hair cut during one of the barber scenes.
it's May 2020 and I'm just finding out just now... Wow, why on earth did i think Debbie Allen did it? even tho she's great as well, but Glad I found out to give credit where credit is due, So sorry Paula, you rocked it ✋😃✔👍💖😍
One thing that I've learned about 80s pop dancing from like my mom and aunts and stuff is that dancers back then used their WHOLE body to move. They didn't just shake their asses like twerkers do or just put emphasis on one body part, they put in work and used the entire body to dance, Paula is great example of that, I love her, amazing dancer/choreographer.
True...but when you say "pop dancing" that term meant something differernt back then to us. What Paula did (and I go back to the days when she was a Lakers girl).....is not popping. THIS, is how we did it in the day (the guys anyway). ruclips.net/video/EayS-uD5lVw/видео.html
Yes but janet made paula abdul a house hold name..Paula had said in interviews.Janet opend the doors for her to became the world renowned choreographer. and pop star in the early 90s.
@@jacobrivera5934 And Janet's famous brothers opened the door for her. The way Janet opened the door for Paula was by showcasing her choreography. Paula's pure talent and skill through dance is what made her world famous.
Paula doesn't get enough credit for what she has done for the industry. She's mostly known for her short music career and American Idol, but she literally revolutionized dancing in 80s pop culture and was choreographing for the greatest directors and artists. People shouldn't overlook that.
So amazing. She has so much talent, the kind of visible actual talent you don’t see much now. She could choreograph! Rare and impressive. She’s so sweet and so cute and you can tell a little tired here. Can you blame her?! She was working her butt off at this time. So cool to see her in a less staged kind of more off the cuff interview about all of her projects... I love her!!

The 1980’s had the best TV shows, commercials, cartoons, films, and musicians, of all time. Oh and the dancing was off the charts. Best decade of all time for entertainment
I wish to God that Paula choreographed Pleasure Principle. Don’t get me wrong, it’s one of my all-time favorite videos. Just imagine what Paula would have come up with for Janet.
Such a beautiful woman, and so innovative. I can't imagine how she can do all those moves in heels. That must have eventually been agony on her body, especially hips and ankles.
She’s actually in great shape and can still dance in heels. Check out her cameo on lip sync battle. It keeps you athletic all your life if you Keep it up.
For all the great work did Paula did for singing and dancing....is amazing....I still love you girl.... she is one of greatest dancer of all time that many didn't and don't know about.... why?.... because she choreographed a lot of people and some of the biggest celebrities of all time.... love you Paula.

I love that she can't recall so much of her past choreography on the spot. That's hard to do, but i guess a lot is muscle memory. Sometimes when I take dance class nowadays, I can remember choreography but just for a short time (like a week or two), because every week it's new. But for dances I did when I was younger that we would practice and perform over and over, I can remember some of those to this day, either pieces of them or the full dance, and I'm 34.
Paula is an amazing dancer and choreographer. Janet is super talented to be able to do it, but paula was the origins of that look in dance in the 80s. I watching this!
Paula had extensive dance training and a variety of genres. Michael Jackson is a great dancer but he is a little bit one dimensional because he doesn’t have a lot of instruction and the technical side of dance.
@@jonnarobinson7541 Exactly. MJ was not a true dancer. He knew how to move but technically he had no training. Paula obviously has had dance training and was able to use her dance skills to choreograph well. She was a rare talent in the industry at the time.
MJ barrow heavily from Bob Fosse and Gene Kelly MJ was trained in Tap dance (that black panther scene breaking cr windows) but he kinda stole from Fosse
I find it very hard to believe that Janet Jackson needed any help with choreography, but I guess looks can be deceiving. From Michael Jackson to Janet Jackson, Paula Abdul, Bobby Brown, and a few in between, the 80s were an amazing time in music, dancing, and all around talent and stylish trends. I will always hold what we had in the 80s close to my heart. It was just an amazing time to be alive. And these music geniuses played a huge role in making it memorable.
Paul, 🤣🤣🤣🤣 yes Looks are deceiving LOL... In Janet's beginning videos, she's not dancing at all, she just has one little move with Rhythm but as we can see, she had it in her cause after Paula got a hold of her, Janet came out swinging left and right LOL
@@msdeej538 Janet Jackson kicked ass in all of her music videos starting with Control, Nasty, and What Have You Done For Me Lately and every thing up to today. Paula Abdul danced in Nasty, What Have You Done For Me Lately, as well as Debbie Gibson's music video, Shake Your Love. I think Paula and Janet both are works of art in the dance industry.
I think Janet Jackson like her brother Michael Jackson was incredibly talented and movement. Paula Abdul was the one who had extensive dance training and the technical aspects of the art. As a dancer all three are fantastic but Paula Abdul has much more versatility.
I think ppl forget how great she is and how much talent and influence she had. Because everyone started to forget that and made her into a reality TV character on american idol. When she was selected to be a judge because of all her talent and experience.
Most great choreographers from this era laid the groundwork for great dancing in videos, award show & movies, but they didn’t get the credits they really deserved, also in this era was Michael Peters which I think blazed the trail for everyone after him including Paula Abdul. Mike worked with Michael Jackson ( most recognized was thriller) Pat Benatar ( love is a battlefield) and many ,ore.
She's such a doll. i miss the late 80s. Women's fashion was angular, (or baggy) & we hadn't yet discovered pilates, so we all still had an hourglass shape bc of black minis, or hips bc: shorts & suspenders.
