Iam a retired Indian army, a lieutenant in the Assam Regiment.I was deployed in Nagaland in the early 1965 to suppressed the Naga revolutionaries led by AZ Phizo. According to my estimation there were maximum 2 lakh and 50 thousand soldiers in Nagaland at that time. It was my first time experiencing the horror of war and the cruelty of human beings. I resigned from my service after the war. I don't want to even think or talk about those days because it gives me horrible nightmares and sadness. I hope Nagas will get what they want soon. I don't believe and support in forceful union
Here is my clarification: The Nagas claimed that more than 5 lakh civilians was killed by us but according to my rough estimation 2-3 lakh nagas might have lost their life in that war... My sincere apologies to the Nagas.

unfortunately it's true that most Naga people don't prefer like being called Indian.I have many friends from north eastern state and it's not the first time I'm hearing this. India was never a nation but rather formed post British exit with the amalgamation of princely states and all buffer areas. Many wanted to go their independent way but then geo politics had its own destiny as would have been the case with any country. Centre should have been more interested in the development of north east and should capitalise on the high degree of literacy there. Guess the lack of apathy make most NE states( not all) feel ignored and been given step motherly treatment and exacerbated by the problem of racism( although I personally feel it's both sided). It's such a beautiful, culturally diverse and resource rich region with simple people. Really wish and hope development comes in and brings prosperity to the region. As far as racism is concerned, I personally feel things are getting much better with awareness and social media. Stayed in that beautiful region as a kid and visited all 7 sisters except Manipur.

@@RikthDcruze The separatist? Are you aware of the history of how Nagaland was forced into the Indian union? Do you know how the Indian army came and killed and raped and burned Naga villages because they refused to join the Indian Union after the British left? Just search on RUclips and you will find the history of Nagaland. Even today the presence of Indian Army in Nagaland is very high and they roam freely in the streets unlike any other Indian state. Because if there is no Indian Army, the Nagas will never submit to India. Yes there are some Nagas who have been spoiled by Indian money and feel that they are Indians, but that is a small minority. The vast majority still hold the dream of a free nation and they do not consider themselves Indian. You must have mingled with those that have no knowledge of their own history and are beneficiaries of Indian money.

I am a geopolitical major studying Asia in general and India in particular. My stance is, even if Nagaland (or the greater Nagalim as you guys claim) become successfull being an independent nation, Nagaland will be hit by severe socioeconomic issues, being a landlocked nation surrounded by hills and difficult terrains will make it even more difficult. Just to give it a more clearer picture (hypothetically speaking), Nagaland will be like Myanmar or North Korea but in a more tormented way albeit both countries have good navigation channels, chances of ethnic clashes are very much inevitable regarding land issues with neighhbours. Forget about development and sovereignity, autocratic rule is bound to happen. It'd be much better for Nagaland to sort out problems with the regime with amicable discussions and debates rather than extremist stunts, not just for the interest of land ,but more importantly for the Naga people. I guess majority of people want nothing but peace. No offence but try to be more rational on your views.

There is always someone interpreting it in the worst possible way, and making it about them. This video has lots of comments which have nothing to do with the actual content of the video but only with some sick interpretation of what she said.

#Nora better refrain from giving a verdict. If you don't have proper knowledge. A few people voice doesn't represent the whole of Nagaland. Some ambitious power hungry people formed an organisation started poisoning naive minds with fake dreams and promises their zeal burned the whole Nagaland. But they themselves preferred luxurious lives in Western European nations, they preferred quality living for their off-springs, while Nagaland kept on burning. Thankfully people are becoming aware and well informed, our eyes have opened. We are happy to be Indians and we love India. #Nora you are a biker/traveler/adventurer better stick to that; stop trying to be a political expert. Ride Safe. Stay Blessed. Thank you.

Hi guys... Do you know?? Nagaland(Nagalim) is not a part of India. India forcefully occupied Naga Hills that is situated in the trijunction of China, Myanmar and India. This long stretch of rugged mountain ranges situated in this trijunction of the three countries, India occipied a portion of it and called it Nagaland, some portion distributed to indian state Assam, manipur and Aurnachal while the another larger portion of it is in Sigang area of Myanmar. The brutal fact is this, Nagas have declared Independent from British colonialism in 14 august 1947 and india got her independence a day after Nagas declared their independent i.e 15 August 1947. India is still occupying Nagaland saying that the Naga hills an integral part of India but Nagas do not accept this false claim because we Nagas are not indian by race or any other references. We are still fighting for our legitimate politica right to this day. And by the way its not "unity in diversity" but its "Diversity in tradition". The fact that Naga's struggle for independence from India and Myanmar is one of the longest and oldest struggle in south east asia.
Please don't mind this comment! Its simply for your knowledge!
So just be informed in case that there are people called NAGAS in northeast of India who doesn't look like Indian because these people are not indian so they doesnt look similar in anyway to the Indians, there is not a single reference in indian history too, nor any similarities in culture, religion, social life, foods, etc just nothing. The only similarities between Indians and Nagas would be "Being Humans with cells and genetic material". So technically it was "Forced occupation of Nagalim by India". We are fighting even today for our right.... and we will keep fighting India until the last man standing!
    Thankyou readers!

That comment "Nagas don't call them Indians" is totally uncalled for. Suggestion, you comment might haunt you in India. Be careful while roaming around. Not a threat but a suggestion for your safety.

So the name of Naga people has nothing at all to do with the Buddhist serpent gods en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N%C4%81ga it was all a misunderstanding by British explorers of how to pronounce "Naka." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nagaland#History

Did not realize how politically motivated you are Nora. I had thought this was a good channel for those who are into biking around the world. Don't talk about things you have absolutely NO CLUE about.
