- BNSFs Alliance based rotary works southward at milepost 17 on the Giltner Subdivision which runs between Aurora and Hastings, Nebraska, on December 28, 2009.
The line has been closed due to a Christmas snow storm that brought 40mph sustained winds and heavy drifting during BNSFs annual holiday shutdown on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Наука
That sounds and looks like a seriously cold day. Fantastic machine.
I love this. I could watch this ALL day ‼️
Wow just wow, the best video I have ever seen of a white cloud slowly moving along two parallel lines! Awesome 😎
I've seen this clip several times and marvel with your luck at the favors of sun light provided. Great clip.
Just beautiful trains and snow is the best.these train guys are so darn lucky.
See all that snow piled up on the walkways of the pushers. That's what was so nice about the old cab or cowl units in this kind of weather. Nice and cozy inside, especially if you had to work on the engine. Hood units suck in bad weather.
I've never seen anything like that before! I loved it❤
I commend you Sir. Beautifully shot !!
Dang, That's some power on that!
That blower shoots the snow a little farther than my walk behind!
I want one of these! Drive down our street and snowbound all the neighbors-lol!
WOW. How much snow did that thing shift. Awesome.
EXCELENTE calidad de video el mejor de todos FELICITACIONES
I remember it well. I live along the BNSF main line tracks. I was snowed in for 3 days.
Freaking AWESOME! I love trains!
That is probably the most frozen I have ever seen any train. The locomotives and plow are covered in huge drifts and giant icicles.
Guess Florida is lacking.
FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great quality of the video!
Thank you for your reply and explanation
That is so amazing.
Love the shot at 8:00. Nice video.
hey! This Rotary is now in BNSF colors I saw it last year in Alliance,NE!
Yeah I took pics too
I worked on the BN locos
For about six years weld fab.rigger.the plows are tuffer to work on.rotaters wow.pain in the cabuce.
I waited 6 minutes to see it chucking snow into those trees, and then most of that part is edited out? Argh! :)
Me too.
I also like the view from behind.
It's actually a bit more than that. Snow over a certain depth will only pack at the side of the track with a plow. You have to use a rotary to pick it up and disperse it away from the track. For Goran, not sure what your point is. There is nothing newer that will work better than a rotary in deep snow.
@Castle Graphics
"There is nothing newer that will work better than a rotary in deep snow."
Wrong. Newer rotaries are far better. Not to mention that some of these better rotaries meanwhile are getting retired in favor of newer better rotaries.
One of them is the japanese DD14, seen here: ruclips.net/video/lTQoaClT3Og/видео.html.
Another awsome machine is the RhB 95403 of Rhätische Bahn in Switzerland, a big Zaugg double rotary blower, which can telescope his halves to work broader.
Then there is the big Beilhack, another double rotary snow blower: ruclips.net/video/jCm18YJ810g/видео.html
Why arent there (m)any daytime working videos in deep snow of the swiss rotaries? They work at night....... ;)
The two machines you've linked to are much more limited in the depth of snow they can handle. They're hardly superior to this one.
great video
What a great video Chris gusts thanks for the work make n it so good ron rdzl om616
Dang wish we would get snow like we used to get here in Ohio cool video
i would have had a couple heads of cabbage to toss in as it passed... the world's biggest salad shooter!
😂😂😂
Does it take 4 engines to push this plow ?
I've never actually seen one but, the rotary snow plow appears to be quite a bit slower than the 'push aside' types. Is the rotary plow thus reserved to move extra deep snow where the other types wouldn't do the job?
You are correct.
This Rotary is now in BNSF colors & in Alliance, NE
What an incredibly SLOW machine.
Look at the fabulous haircut that train has, what a swag.
7:09 how’d all that snow get on top?
never knew ne got so much snow damn
INSIDE. I wish we could see Inside. I want to see the controls. Where is the toilet? Is there any break room? Stuff like that.
whatta winter... nice!
How many horns did train blow?
there is a serious mountain of snow on the other side of the tracks...
There is one thing about these massive rotary's I don't get. Why are they so gutless? I got a rotary on the 65 horse tractor that would have moved that snow faster than this and the rotary on my dads 150 hp tractor puts mine to shame. I could see them having to blow this slow if the snow was 12 feet high, but that size rotor with that kind of horse power should move 3 - 4 feet of snow at 5 miles an hour at least. Yet in these videos they are crawling then they stop then crawl then stop.
I think one big steamer could have pushed that blower, as apposed to four diesels.
Is it better to have AC or DC powered locomotives when snow plowing?
DC locomotives are limited in how long they can operate at very slow speeds without risking overheating the motors (although on that's obviously a bit less of a problem in the winter). AC motors aren't quite as limited.
Cool
i would love to see that actually. i doubt a car would be driving over tracks that have yet to be plowed
nice video thanks! holy crap u think theres enough engines pushing that blower
Everyone has old things thats fully paid, but if it's become old you don't have too use it.
Sure you do if they work perfectly fine and there is no reason to justify spending loads of money for something new.
Jesus Christ even the trains are cold
Amezing
Why did plowing just end
Vay koçum vay ne kadar güzel
BNSF shuts down for Christmas? Reduced operations yes, but I've never heard of a Class I shutting down for a holiday.
What do you mean you don’t like the wind
By the way, $7881 spending of federal dollars per capita in nebraska. $8177 in new york.
However, new york residents contribute $1,600 more per year in federal revenues per capita.
So much for going without the government compared to New Yorkers.
WOW, you got some good quality videos. What video software do you use
They look like they were on Donner pass.
When regular rail fans see a snow plow: Oh wow thats so cool!
When I see a snow plow: MOTHER OF GOD ITS KILLING ALL THE SNOW BABIES!!!!!!!
LOL wait what..........snow can't have babies...but still LOL
Why are Four Big Engines behind needed? I could understand if It was a V Snow Plough, but It is a Snow Blower Unit with a Slug suppling Power to the Snow Blower Front End. Two Engines should suffice.
You are correct. The day before it only had two locomotives and they were having mechanical issues, so they placed two more on the train that were working properly.
My note on folks thinking newer is better yes it is but can a Railroad like UP/BNSF justify spending 2 to 10 mill on a new rotary for say a once per winter or 3 need
Your annual average snowfall is 31. Central Park's is 27. There's hardly any difference.
Syracuse gets 115. How much do you see on the news about syracuse snow?
If Aurora NE had 20 million people, it might be a little more newsworthy.
Nerde o eski kışlar
i feel bad for the cow that gets caught up in that thing
If I was the farmer I would be pissed it would be late in spring to plant in that area
Microphone soud be covered on a windy day, shame.
Зверь 2021👍🏻🇷🇺💪🏻
I think a blade with a couple of spreaders would have done better.
I've got a Canon HV20 camcorder.
It's not moving very fast.
Should have had the camera set up on the right side of the tracks. What are you? Wimps???
I don't live in NYC, though I do believe that the significant blizzards this year have been in the northeast. IIRC, philadelphia got about 35 inches in one shot in 2003, and further west from there where my parents live, 39.
Don't blame a region for TWC's stupid names. It's not a real weather report, anyway, it's reality TV.
Save your exaggerating for the bash, or are you afraid to go there because people call you out? I'm sure you get a lot more government aid there than you'll admit.
o co tu chodzi ? ? ?
Enjoy your video recording
I also do content like that
This viedo was made 11 years ago: Why is it being shown now?
Ofcourse, thats why they scraped steamengines in perfect condition, and scraped or sold thousands of their first diesels. A one step snowblower is really stoneage, four big diesels behind a snowblower in total creepspeed, thats economy!
Some tree removal would prevent most of this.
Dead Cat Windscreen
Poor Trees
Vay be kaç makina
That seem like an excessive amount of horsepower to remove 6" of snow. My truck could have done it..
Best

The
I wonder why the american railroads keep using this old invention? There are more modern and much better machines nowdays.
Because it's paid for.
***** Amen
Because there isn't anything better.
Damn; put a sock or so on your mike to avoid this wind noise.
By the way, this video is just boring !!
