I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and in the mid 70’s you couldn’t go to any party or get together without hearing Lynyrd Skynyrd. I was in my teens and I think it was the best time to be a teen, parties, drive ins, cruising and of course the best rock concerts.

That's a good song. I played music in Northand South Carolina. There were three songs I kept in my pocket.
If the crowd was dull or maby the first set of the night and no one was dancing. I could pull call me the Breeze or T for Texas. That or the
      Doobie Brothers Long train running
would get the crowd rolling .

This song and Freebird are one of the first songs ever composed. They tried to get it released but no one would sign them. Then some FM radio stations started to play Freebird and their career took off. This is one of my favorite ballads. It is a sad song and full of emotion. The saddest part for me is I only got to see them once. The piano player Billy Powell was classically taught and brought that to this and many other songs. One last tidbit. Ronnie wrote songs from his heart about his life and this was one of them. Oh yea there is no organist. Piano, drums, base guitar, 3 lead guitars and lead singer Ronnie. The sometimes only had 2 lead guitarists and used the Honkettes as backup singers.

Harri I love your reactions. You know your music. I picked up a base at about the age of 10 years old at 15 i joined a band . the band had to lie to just to get me in the clubs we played at. I knew nothing about music but I could hear a song two or three times and get the base riffs. I would have loved to have had your understanding of music when i started. I'm sure I could have been a much better basest. Keep up the good work. I would like to hear your story and how you got into music. See you on the next reaction.

This has always been my favorite skynard song, but it really hit home for me on 9/11 as I was driving home from work that day and the magnitude of what happened was just starting to settle in. I knew then that America was changed forever. The first thing I did when I got home was to hang our flag. A few days later I had to venture out and as I was driving to the store, I realized that every single home that I drove past had their flags hanging as well, and I had to pull over to the side of the road because I just broke down and cried for about five minutes. And now I want to cry for what our country has become since 2008 with the dems in power. Vote Trump 2024.
