  • NOTE!!! I forgot to mention that Crafted Red is very lightly, eerily scented....seemingly floral. But it doesn't linger and I don't taste it or detect it for any amount of time after application. The same goes for Hermes although I can't quite place the scent. The Dior ones by comparison are SO highly scented.

Haha it’s a very simple one: Beige Mitzah from Dior with a layer of sparkle from Emily by Lisa Eldridge.

-- I love the packaging and I would love to own this lipstick. Thank you for your review! P.S. Dries Van Noten began making clothes in 1986, not in the 1970’s. 😊❤️

I am late to this video. Thoroughly enjoyed how in-depth you were, especially with the packaging 🙃 I am not even in the market for bougie lipsticks. LE is about my price point for lipsticks. Please keep doing these videos.

I think the packaging looks impressive in a photo but once in the hand I didn’t find it matched the images.

I agree with you - I thought the packaging was unique and pretty, but when I got it, it felt a little bit plastic and cheaply made - maybe bc it didn’t have a magnetic closure - but also I expect the outside to “feel” more lux - even my son, who likes to mindlessly open and close my LE lipstick while, talking to me (bc it’s a cool packaging feel; like a fidget toy to him, lol) picked up the DVN and immediately said “no, that’s not great ”, LOL - he literally said he was unimpressed - too funny
I got archive red, which is more orange, bright, whiter base - it’s kind of flat compared to LE colors I have - it’s the flattest/simplest color I have - it’s basic orange/red - it’s a bit drying; but it’s ok - I didn’t have that color in matte - I’m ok I got it, but won’t get more - I am interested hearing you like the Hermes - I’ll try one if I can choose,a color (the hardest choice ;)

OK I am glad to hear I am not the only one. I have only ever heard superlatives about these lipsticks and I was wondering if I am missing something. I am super happy with the colour, but I was not overly impressed by the packaging and the formula.
Hermes has a fairly limited colour choice and I don't know that they are super unique but that packaging is sublime!! And the formulas are just very solid. I have not tried the mattes yet.

I honestly like the DVN case more than the Hermes, but nothing beats the thick, slide open, outer orange box. 😍
But I’m mostly just really sorry you didn’t like the DVN formula as much as I do! I find the PMG much thinner which feels a little more dry as time goes on-I love them but on my lips they feel thinner which isn’t a problem or con-I guess it’s the silicone. To me the DVN formula is more like the LE Velvets which feel much more creamy and “thicker”, but I find the DVN more creamy even than LE. I honestly feel surprised that you find them similar in texture to the MatteTrance. When I saw that, I put Elson on one half of my lips and DVN On the other side and wore them around my house for a few hours and the two feel so different to me.
BUT I also have a different, cooler DVN red than you. Maybe that’s the difference. Maybe the lighter, warmer red is more dry?
But I also definitely know what you mean about some MatteTrance being more dry than others. I love the shade Modern Woman, but it’s got a lot of white pigment and is more dry than my beloved Fever Dream or Elson.
I only have the one DVN so far, so I can’t compare different shades.
I don’t find any difference in texture between Velvet Petal, Jazz, Ribbon, Duchess, Affair, or Muse. I don’t have Dragon or any of the much lighter shades like Intrigue or Fawn. And you made a great point. The quality of lipstick you get from a LE Velvet is incredible (and it’s half the price of a DVN or Hermes)
I love the Prada Hyper Mattes. I haven’t tried the soft matte yet. I’m interested to see what you think about them. To me the hypermatte is more thin like a PMG MatteTrance but feels more cushiony on the lips. They don’t feel like any of these other formulas.
This was all so interesting!! I guess it all just goes to show people’s perceptions are different, our lips are different, and different colors can wear differently even in the same formula!

I absolutely love that you’re enjoying your DVN lipstick so much and that you went out of your way to do a side by side test😂. Great experiment! I don’t find the shade drying but it’s not different than my Pat lipsticks. But I have to add I have been very selective with my Pat mattes so I only have a few and they are all really comfortable.
Lisa’s formula is very consistent and very few shades are outliers in her line.
I am SUPER happy with the actual shade of the DVN lipstick because it’s very brightening (you know I love that) and unique.
I can’t wait to try the Prada ones. Still haven’t arrived but I am pumped. By now I saw lots of reviews and I am fairly certain I chose shades that will be comfortable and I will enjoy.

As a lipstick lover, I really do appreciate a thorough luxury lipstick review, so thank you! ❤
I haven't tried Dries van Noten lipsticks, so I can’t compare them, but I have to agree on the Hermes ones being next level when it comes to packaging - I usually throw out any kind of boxes/pouches etc, but I simply couldn’t do it with Hermes ones. So now my Hermes lipsticks live in their pouches, each in a separate box and I'm amazed every time I use them.
And I also totally agree on quality of Lisa's matte formula, it still remains my favourite, even after trying out many other (sometimes much more expensive) lipsticks - the comfort/longevity ratio is the best out of all the lipsticks that I've tried.

I prefer the Hermes case and formulas that I have tried. I have 3 Dries lipsticks, all purchased at the same time, and have not repurchased. They’re fine but lack a certain wow factor. The cases are beautiful in their own way and I would buy more if I liked the formulas better.
