I have a constellation and a Seamaster, my beloved stepfather would give my brothers and I a vintage watch for our birthday every year. RIP EZ, we miss you.
sorry to be offtopic but does anyone know a trick to log back into an instagram account?? I stupidly lost my login password. I love any tips you can offer me
@Leonard Thiago Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im trying it out now. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
I loved your script for this video and the insight that the beauty of the deterioration as a watch ages is a free complication is something I've never heard put quite like that. Lovely work Max, it blew me away.
Thanks Morgan. I knew you were thoughtful enough to get where that came from. For a couple days I knew what I wanted to say but couldn't quite put it into words. Finally squeezed it out 😁. Cheers buddy, thanks for stopping by again!
Lucky owner of a goldcapped 1957 2852 auto, arrowhead hour markers no date. Cream dial with speckles here and there. On very dark green croc strap. The charm is absolute, even at 35 mm.
Yes yes. I love my vintage constellation as well. So underrated, compared to the DJ. Perfect choice and awesome video. Cannot understand why you don't have more follower!
168.0065, the later Japanese pie pans (and last of the pie pan models) with the calibre 1011 are also amazing. They tend to come with steel bracelets in a couple of variations such as the beads of rice centre links 1086 (I think) and my personal favourite the slightly squarer centre links of the 1503. These don't have a 500 series movement but still look great! There are good ones and some full sets that come up every now ant then from good Japanese dealers, worth keeping an eye out for. Don't look too hard though I'm still trying to find one for myself!
Great Video! Love vintage Omega watches! P.S. A lot of constellations have a tuning fork NOT a Quarz movement. The tuning fork have a sweeping second and produce a unique sound…
Recent sub, but I'm really digging the content. The Globemaster is my grail watch. Love the pie pan dials. I really like your vintage one. I also love the opening quote. I try to explain to people why watches fascinate me, but it is impossible to put it in words. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the video. I am searching for a Constellation for my birth year watch. 1963. Very useful. Constellation Trivia? Omega Constellations sold in the USA during the 1950s were not able to be branded as “Constellation”, due to a trademark conflict with Pan American Airlines whose triple-tailed plane was also named Constellation. An alternative name of “Globemaster” was coined by Bruno Passoni, a member of Omega’s Italian sales team, which became the name Constellations were sold under in the USA until 1956 when the trademark conflict was resolved. The modern Globemaster collection recalls the name of early 1950s USA Constellations.
I have the exact same watch as the second one in the video, complete with crosshair dial, though the hands are solid gold (plate?) with no center lines or lume. My father bought it new in 1961, though Omega stated (when I sent to them for service in 1995) that it was made in 1956. Between 1995 and 2021 I’ve worn it sparingly, usually for special occasions or just when I want something a little more special than my Rolex Milgauss.
Excellent video. I have been binge watching them since the algorithm led me to them last week. Just subscribed. Two questions: 1. Did you part ways with your Speedy Marui? I am on the hunt for one and have saved enough to finally pull the trigger when a good example can be found. 2. @9:29 Fight On or Peace Out? Keep up the great work!
Nice video, take a 👍🏼. I have a '68 168.027 and love the gold bezel and the contrast to the case. Thats suede strap is a perfect companion for the pie pan!
Great video I myself have been lookin for a pie pan constilation to accompany my omega seamaster deville automatic 1 was born in 1963 so that's considered the golden age 😅
Alan Watts? Nice touch. Connie seems like an obvious nickname for the watch. Lockheed manufactured a famous aircraft from ‘43 through the late ‘50s called the Constellation, nicknamed Connie. The Globemaster name was used in the States address a copyright issue here. My assumption is Lockheed and their airplane were involved. Seems fitting they share the same nickname.
Thank you. I'm searching for a perfect vintage watch for who I am - I'd like to match it with my age for a start and that makes it early sixties. Your comments on age and patina make me wonder whether my original assumption that 'clean' is good might not be as simple as I thought. Constellation or Seamaster - you've nudged me towards the former...
I resently found my Vintage Omega Constillation pie pan. It had gone missing for over 15 yrs in my garage. I purchased it while on vacation in Vietnam in the late 90's/early 00's. I think I paid less then $50usd. I am having trouble having it serviced, it runs but only for a few hr/days. The repair shop I last took it to told me the issues it that someone replaced a part with a non Omego part. The shop would not repair it due to access to replacement parts. I cant find someone to help me get it running again. Any recommendations? I'm in California.
Slightly related trivia: Seiko nearly defeated Omega in the 1967 observatory trials. The following year the Swiss decided not to hold the competition anymore :).
The centenary was not actually Omega's first wristwatch chronometer, as Omega had been producing wristwatch chronometers in the form of 30t2 timepieces for some time. It was, however, Omega's first automatic chronometer.
hey, I love what you are doing and appreciate it. just a question I wanted to ask and I hope Im getting an answer, Ive been looking into watches for very long time and yet couldnt find any watch which is vintage and small size and fit my budget which is 200 dollars. Is there by any chance you recommend few watches to me please!!!
My Constellation is my most precious watch. I'm no Rolex fan as I've always felt Omega was way ahead of them in terms of accuracy and calibre design. The 561 being the best calibre ever.
Hi Max, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but in addition to the non-original crown of your silver Constellation, the example you showed also appears to have a re-finished non-original dial. Unsure if this was a known factor in your purchase, but will impact resale value in the future. Nonetheless a great video, thoroughly enjoyed, thanks
Hi I have the gold plated one with centre back gold observatory. Beautiful condition still with day and date. I want to sell it for approx 2grand If intetested i am in south africa Regards Theo
Since I am not a fan of Omega or other fancy brands, for the purposes of this video I am an impartial viewer. And in that role, I prefer the second watch, the one with the brown strap; it is so vintage. I wouldn't mind having a watch like that. Of course, I wouldn't mind if it didn't have the Omega mark on the dial either. It's about the visual impression, not the brand or the price. Thank you for this instructive video. Regards from Chile!

Loved the Alan Watts intro/outro. Perfectly matched the content and these vintage pieces
Thank you! I just put him on in the background sometimes, and it just clicked 😁

@Leonard Thiago It did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy:D

Incredible video man! So much research and editing went Into this!! That intro/outro was powerful ❤️ and congrats on those 2 beautiful pieces!

Great video. How can we not love a vintage Connie from the 50s and the 60s. 😃

Thanks Joel. It is hard to explain this obsession to the uninitiated. The globemaster is a beauty, good luck hunting it down!
Globemaster annual calendar 😍

Ooops ... meant to post this under the State of the Collection video...
You strike again Max! Great content as usual! Two fantastic watches, much more interesting than the DJ (in a way), I especially love the Pie Pan
Cheers Petter! They are little gems that can still be had without breaking the bank👍
Great video again. I love Omega as a brand. These vintage constellations are some of the nicest vintage dressy watches out there IMO
Thanks Ty. You can tell a lot of thought went into these watches 👍
Your production value is getting insane Max. Keep it up man.
Thanks! Having some fun and learning along the way 👍
Fantastic intro! I love the pie pan too and hopefully one day I can find a good one👍
They are out there! I got mine on eBay sent from Japan. Good luck with the hunt 👍
Excellent video, Max. Two beautiful pieces!
Thanks Pete, glad you enjoyed the video 👍

Hi Max
Any chance you will let us know a reference of the music used in your videos?
Enjoy them immensely...and your music selection as well. Thanks
Thanks! I use a combination of the youtube music library and Epidemic sounds. Thanks for noticing!
Don't own an Omega anymore, but I still like them, btw...great acquisition!
Omega is like the Porsche of watchmaking: engineering first 👍
Alan Watts? Nice touch.

I'm so glad Jack👌
Would love an Omega constellation as a wedding watch but wary about conditions of these pieces. Where is the best place to shop??
currently looking into getting a gold 60s pie pan constellation

Haha, that's chapter 2 of the story. Love how they just said "we are gonna postpone the competition indefinitely"

Thanks! I would look for a vintage Tissot, something like a seastar can be had for that price. Good luck!
Interesting, I've never heard those lugs referred to as grasshopper, but dog leg, rather.
Yeah I came across both names, very descriptive 👍
Just sold mine a few months ago but soon there'll be a new one in even better condition :D
I'm buying them by the fist full... They are such good value 😁

Yeah seems omega is just quietly engineering masterpieces while everyone else makes billboards
@@WatchCrunchOfficial Wonderful choice of words. And apt.
@@WatchCrunchOfficial Perfectly said!.
@@WatchCrunchOfficial In my past travels, to Europe and Asia, I've seen many more fancy billboard ads from Omega compared to Rolex.
I'm not a rolex lover either I prefer elegance and style over big glamorous bulky doorsteps
WHO MAKES THE STRAP YOU HAVE ON THIS??! ITS BEAUTIFUL ON THAT WATCH!!!
Another great video!
Thanks Greg👍
Solid intro!
Great video!
Does your friend (the vintage dealer) have a website??
Love my omega 14381

About how much would a vintage omega constellation be worth? How much did you pay for each one?
They vary base on condition so for the stainless steel they range from $900 all the way to $2000
Where are the best places to buy one?
Merci ; C'est super! je suis en train, moi aussi, de prendre le virus Omega !
