good job my friend. thanks for teaching. and the new generations do not like this job. Because it's dangerous, but if you teach them that it's safe and fun, they'll be more encouraged.
The harder part is having to continue to attach and detach the foot ascender while in the canopy. I haven't quite mastered that. Much easier to attach the foot ascender when I am on the ground vs in the tree.
@@BinoH Thanks for the reply and super helpful vids Bino. You have allowed me the knowledge and confidence to get up and move around the tree. Your micro and pointed tips and tricks have been super helpful. I use the CT Foot ascender and bought the Notch Jet Step that is still new in the box, just need to watch some tutorials on how to properly use it (I'm sure its quite simple). I've heard the JetStep is easier on the rope and won't damage or fray the climbing lines as easily. One note about any foot ascender, make sure the device is oriented properly depending on what foot you use. For example if the CT foot ascender is on the wrong foot (right CT ascender on left foot) it will get you up in the tree, but fray the ropes and is very difficult to ascend vs having it on the correct foot you ascend very smoothly.
That is a good point and I do explain it on the final canopy tie. At that time I choked the branch away from the the trunk of the tree and then moved my choke but I was standing and my line was mostly slacked while I placed my lanyard. If I planned on putting my full weight my slick pin would be in the opposite direction. Take care!
Thanks for the link Bino. Quick question though: why a quickie, $50, instead of a carabineer that cost much less. I'm sure there is an advantage to the quickie and that is what I want to know
When I first started using SRS I read a Book on SRT and in the book it explained that carabiners are not good to use because there is a chance the they could open on you.
when using a carabiner, if it is cross loaded the load is being placed on the spine of the carabiner and reduces the overall strength of the carabiner. I've been using a quickie for almost two years now and the speed and ease that it can be attached and moved makes it personally one of my favorite tools
This is great. Just picked up 2 notch (mirco quickies?). Have you seen this knot from the educated climber? ruclips.net/video/MUEXJ6p5wDo/видео.html I wonder if you could do the same thing with this knot instead of the quickie?
I think the Notch quickie and the DMM eccentric pulley are the two best buys I have made. Keep those quickie videos coming!
I'll do my best!
@@BinoH👍👍👍
Wow, nice one! Great idea you have shared to drop the line for retrieval at the end after the final tie in point. Thank you.
You're very welcome!
Thanks for sharing Bino
My pleasure!

With the Jet Step it's a little easier for me because you don't have to lock it and it comes out and installs easy.

Grab the rope below the ascender and take the weight off it. It's then easier to get the rope out of the ascender, 👍💪🪓🌲🇮🇪
@5:25 -best to keep that slic pin pointed the other direction, (out, away from the tree), so it can't be pushed out under load.

Video I love those quickies
Me Too, thank you!
Best practice... Fascinating🤔
Thank you!
Anybody has a link to a good quicky? I saw a bunch at the hardware store but not sure if the climbing quicky is different. Thanks in advance

I've got the same question.
And a good locking carabiner is easier to handle with gloves on.
Jeez how much to rig up with all these components. Rough estimate
this might help ruclips.net/video/Av9qLYVMuZg/видео.html
I can tie in with bowland with quikie and choke to tree
If you want to use a Bowline in that way, it's better to use a Bowline with a Yosemite finish.
This is rock climbing in a tree! Love it, very cool to see and very effective 🙌 I'd just request a little bit more redundancy in the process!
Thanks for watching!
Why would you use this over a locking steel O? Makes no sense.

Or, just Prussik.
