The Wicked one impresses me to this day. When I say it, I thought they were projecting a pre-recorded video. The fact they actually do it on stage every night is amazing. The magic of practical effects
That part was what i felt was missing from the Broadway production, cause act two is pretty much the retelling of wizard of Oz but from Glinda, and Elphaba, and the Wizards point of View and that it would feel less rushed or unfinished if we had seen Dorothy and the friends, just cause Dorothy was thee doesn't mean it becomes about Dorothy. But the person who put this together forgot about the RSC version of the Witch melting in the 1985 show, and the Madison Square Garden melting of The Witch, and a bunch of others as well besides Wicked.
I’m actually genuinely surprised that the production of Wicked Germany included Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Woodsman, and Cowardly Lion in their performance. It adds another layer of connection between Wicked and The Wizard of Oz that I love to see.
It´s because, the producers thought, the audience here in Germany knows not eonough about the wizard of oz and wanted to bring this in to make it "easier" to understand. It´s nice - but i don´t thing it was neccessary...
@@AllThingsTheatre991 It was a non-replica production, there is a clip in the trailer of the same where you can see that the melting was done with smoke and lighting effects.
What is the website that you find the mean girls videos I forgot what it’s called because I saw a video that you posted with what it was called but can’t find it anymore could you help? 😊😅
So I found this website called musicalexchange.livejournal.com and looked through it and there are tons of rare slimes in there including mean girls! The rare mean girls ones are that there 4 west end slimes and loads of slimes of the National tour replacement cast and there is also a really good one for the non equity tour but sadly you have to pay for all of them 😢
@@AllThingsTheatre991 honestly I did not see 2011 version or 2022 version either mostly because I live in the US and I was born on 2011 the same year that the old one came but I prefer the 2011 version because it actually looks better than the 2022 version I wish that when wizard of Oz came back to London, In 2022 I wish that it’s stayed the same way as 2011 version
This is just my own personal opinion about the German production, and I won't be surprised if I'm in the minority here...... I'm actually not a fan of seeing Dorothy, in person, on stage in "Wicked." I dunno, I just kinda feel like it's a little too on-the-nose and takes away from the emotion and gravity (no pun intended) of the moment since this is supposed to be the saddest moment of Glinda's entire life. Having Dorothy and her friends be right there, and seeing their celebration, makes it all about them instead of Glinda. That being said..... Is it just the lighting, or are Dorothy's slippers ruby red in this scene? Yeah, I know they glow red when Elphaba enchants them, but then they change back to silver for the rest of the scene. Maybe MGM wasn't aware of this production's details? LOL

Here the video is about the effects of the melting and i'm immediately crying over Kristen Chenowith calling for "Elphie" and clutching the hat 😂😂😂
The grip the OBC has on my emotions is, confusifying.
It’s so cool how in Wicked in Germany they show Dorothy and her companions

@ Wicked part 2 will have a full movie to pace act 2 more

Besides that, seeing her drop the hat on the ground before leaving through the hatch is a little funny
yeah but I was surprised that in the us version, they included dorothy and the scarecrow was already transformed.
At least you were able to post it!
A clip of the melting scene from the Wiz Live was in this video but I had to removed the scene due to copyright sadly
That’s okay!
Can someone translate the dialogue in the German production? It's interesting they were allowed to do that
3:07 it's from the 1983-1984 revival Although the original Broadway version also used this technique
3:21: 1975 English: *scream*
4:31: 2021 German: *translated in English* *NO!*
5:46: 2024 English: *scream*
poor elphaba for she was melted by dorothy and glinda didn't even say bye to her friend.
poor glinda and elphaba roommates before misters.
Who the Germany version. So cool to see them rescue Dorothy. I hope they show this in the movie too
Will you make a sequel when wicked part 2 comes out
Yeah probably unless it gets blocked again
Was the wizard of oz uk tor witch a boy?
They had female actresses playing the witch but then they decided to cast drag queens
@ oh ok thank you I would have kept the girl lol
Comment which performance did the melting scene best!
I like indina menzels and jessica vosk

@@sailorpluto1556 I’ve heard it was a really cool effect but I’ve never seen it anywhere besides the small clip from the trailer
