I used this design for my base. I have modified this a bit but the basic design is still the same. I gotta say this is the most in depth tutorial I have seen yet about No Mans Sky. It must have have taken you days to edit this video, Than you so much for your efforts! I modified this base a bit it came out awesome! My 'mod' was the addition of a 2nd floor to the main building. Your tutorial was very complete and surprisingly difficult to follow on the PC. Glitching the Lights in Floor was REALLY hard. For the life of me I could not duplicate your actions in the video where you did like 4 or 5 in a row. I took me many attempts to get successfully glitch those lights, I was never was able to get it working that smoothly. That was the most difficult part for me. I have yet to get to the garage but I get many compliments on the base, great build. Many thanx for all your efforts!

Wow your guides are freakin` awesome. You gave me so many inspirations here...and actually I knew this scaling trick already, but I had NO IDEA that this works for the teleporter and the storage container too. Alone this is making my life in NMS so much easier, because I always hated this huge storage containers and never know where to put them lol. So great!!! Well this is so much info and inspiration, I will watch this complete building guide more than one times I guess, I can`t keep this all in my mind. I can see you put a lot of effort into making a good looking base for having company. I have so far built many utilitarian bases. I put mostly the things I need to either farm, mine, extract or all three. You gave me some good ideas and techniques so far for making some nice shapes while getting the job done in good order. My thanks sharing your knowledge is greatly appreciated.

As an Ode to DDG, I created a portal base yesterday (since I binged watched this build) with some of the same tricks and tips on the Community world this weekend on a system you found.... put it some free crops (not much) and a way for travelers to relax and get some spare coin for resources. The base simply says Portal Base.
More ideas! I am now a subscriber. Your videos are really showing me the possibilities in nms if you have a bit of imagination. Thank you ❤

Update, all glitches included with this base work. Except the scale glitch is slightly larger now
Table lamps as bar stools - FFS - I worship the ground you build on.
I didn't think the resizing glitch was working at first, just takes a couple tries to get the hang of it. But it's still working now 8/8/22

Me personally I put the base portal in the big portal. Surprisingly its actually a near perfect fit.

The have the wiring spots just like the normal sized version. simply select your wire tool and wire them into the power grid like you would normally. im working on a portal base of my own and i just went over the hill from where i am to slap down some batteries and solar panels for now. not the prettiest but its out of sight from my base. ill eventually do something perm with them that looks nice too

I would really appreciate it if HG would make it so we can scale and combine parts and then add them to the library of parts we can access. I would like to group parts and combine them into one then call it whenever I want to use it/them again. For example: craft a small building and store it as a unit to reuse on other bases.
How awesome you can do this with the stupid HUGE vaults. They are way to big in the game. I don't know why they don't let us shrink whatever we want to begin with?

More great content. Thanks so much D! Did they tweak some stuff recently? I can still get the items to shrink but the storage containers want to snap when I place them next to each other and they pop back to the original size. Maybe its bugged out?

Does this still work? I've tried for over 30 minutes with no luck. The menu always almost looks like that, except there is a "Cycle Part - E" section to the left. Did Hello Games patch this? Is there a new method for scaling unscaleable parts?
Nvm, eventually got it to work. Although it does seem as though they increased the minimum size of the locker. Are there other items that can scale relatively smaller than the locker or did they just make the minimum scale higher for all things?
He says: "Fill the planters with plants you regularly need." Aside from the main plants for crafting Stasis Drives, for which I have entire farms in Euclid and Hilbert, the only plant I regularly need is "Nip Nip Buds" I typically have three biodomes of those at each farm and a trade unit to sell them, so I don't have to deal with Sentinel Authorities when traveling.
I am boring, I just make it functional, I have way to many bases. Do these method still work after upgrade on 7-20-22 ?

I`m pretty sure they fixed the Downscaled parts glitch with the new update though, sad.
Scaling down my portal isn't working. I have followed the tutorial step by step. When I try to copy the locker, it doesn't copy it. I'm on PC too.
After hitting Q and left clicking all it does is place the locker and not the item I chose. Did this get patched or something
You just had the wrong timing. or didn't copy the part that you want to scale properly (Q+C).

locker I chose the item I wanted to change then hit q and c which that part worked then duplicated the locker and when I go to hit q and left click all it does is place the locker. I’ve tried it numerous times and it has not worked so either it’s been fixed or something is up.

Am I doing something wrong? When I place the Q, C the portal and go back to scaled down locker, there’s no copy, under E, it’s a cycle parts
Your timing might be of slightly. Keep on trying and you soon get the hang of it.

So idk what im doing wrong. i watched this and the plain staircase + rail video. However when i do this my floor panel ends up slightly crooked and i cant figure out how to do it correctly. do you know what im doing wrong that causes this? if you were to stand at the base of where the stairs are my floor panels snap in with the left side slightly higher and the right side slightly lower. So it doesnt line up at all. it is snapping to the wire just not a level ramp like yours does. :(

1:56 when I duplicate it replaces the portal with the locker and when I press y+x it go's to the wire page but not the edit page
