But Harriet, I will suggest you cover upper Hilll comprehensively. Upper Hill has so much to offer. And do not be scared of showing the whole building. Kenya is a free country. Unless the place is written no photography.
My Neighbors from Langata. We always visited Upper Hill and we always knew it was going to be something big from the 80s.My cousin lived there. Now it’s a city. Not surprised.
Upperhill has better roads than Westlands. It is also less crowded. It is mostly office space (financial e.g. Equity, KCB, NCBA, UAP, Britam etc., embassies such as Japan and UK, and dozens of legal and premier medical establishments). Oh and Radisson Blue and Crowne Plaza hotels. The greater Upperhill area is home to 3 of Kenya's top 5 tallest buildings. Fun fact, the other 2 are in Westlands, Nairobi CBD has none in the top five.
During the Elnino rains last year, most infrastructure at Upper hill was destroyed. The drainage systems, sidewalks, road markings, electric cables, several potholes etc..are all an eyesore. Over to you Gov. Sakaja.
Fond memories seen my old school too!!(loreto convent valley rd)this was a good video took waaayy back to primary school the side on the clip opposite 88 apts is "upper primary" side childhood memories indeed!!
My childhood neighbourhood has really changed.. So many offices and apartments now.Used to be mostly bungalows very few flats and very quiet and serene back in my days in the 80s and 90s..around 1996 is when they started the office buildings(Rahimtulla towers)was the first then British High Commission then Citibank next to it..then the rest(Shelter Afrique/Britam etc)those started in the late 90s..even the library wasn't like it is now..back when we went it was a little 1 storey building and it was dark inside always lol(very old school)now it looks nice
Hi Harriet, enjoying your video...Point of correction to Esther, Britam tower is the tollest building in East and Central africa and 3rd tollest in the whole of Africa, not UAP
Upperhills will also be the home to Africa's tallest residential apartment to be known as '88 Nairobi' with a total of 47 floors. It is currently 50% complete. It would be nice if you have the honour to pay a visit. otherwise Great contents on the channel.
Oh. My beautifuly crafted comment praising your content has vanished. However again, thank you for your work. The Kenyatta hospital is not the largest in the region. That crown goes to the The Kenyatta University Teaching Referral and Research Hospital. Cheers
Please confirm Harriet. Pinnacle towers construction was stopped my National Environment because of land degradation and pinnacle management got frustrated and opted for Rwanda. Please check and let us know the current status.
And at upper Hill, you will mostly find Corporates offices. Most of those tall buildings are owned by banks, insurance companies , organisations. The building you have said its looks like a football stadium those are offices for Coca cola africa.
The vibandas serve to sell food to the construction workers. They have received approval from the county government for efficiency. However, once construction is completed, they are mandated to vacate. Failure to do so results in their removal. This is crucial because completed buildings with food-selling vibandas can deter potential buyers, especially if concerns about disease transmission arise. Residential building management makes an effort to uphold proper vegetation around the buildings that's why they can't be there afterwards.
Britam is the tallest not UAP, still waiting for the express way vlog you promised this week and we are almost ending the week you better stick to ur words😅
It 100% was..i literally grew up there.I saw my neighbors houses taken down for those buildings to go up(I saw British high Commission built from ground up) In the 80s and early 90s there was NO OFFICE building in upperhill. That started in 1996..1st was Rahimtulla towers then Citibank then BHC then the rest

Hi Harriet, enjoying your video...Point of correction to Esther, Britam tower is the tollest building in East and Central africa and 3rd tollest in the whole of Africa, not UAP
Minus that spire on top and Britam tower won't even be among the top 20
Am thinking GTC tower is taller but due to ground elevation it seems shorter. I stand corrected though.
@@markisto8655That's my point below
nice video ❤❤🎉
Thanks 🤗
Our Headquarters was in Upper Hill back in 1994. Totally different from back in the day.
You are now a really Nairobi city girl
Upperhills will also be the home to Africa's tallest residential apartment to be known as '88 Nairobi' with a total of 47 floors. It is currently 50% complete. It would be nice if you have the honour to pay a visit. otherwise Great contents on the channel.

At 23:41 that was the Coca Cola East And Northern Africa headquarters, they moved out to South Africa, the new entrants are renovating the place
The building that looks like a stadium is a actually coca cola headquarters 😊
And at upper Hill, you will mostly find Corporates offices. Most of those tall buildings are owned by banks, insurance companies , organisations. The building you have said its looks like a football stadium those are offices for Coca cola africa.
East and central Africa.

Pinnacle towers after completion will be Africa's tallest high end residential building of 88 storey building

Upper Hill is like California of Kenya or Sandton of Kenya. This is where you will most of the blue chip companies headquartered.
Upper Hill is not a residential area. It's a high-end commercial district within Nairobi city.
