Would have been an automatic win as soon as Aragorn died, as the My Precious special rule of the ring meant Frodo would have automatically fled and it would have been a sudden death victory.

Nice battle report. One thing I noticed is that the pike uruks lost out on a lot of potential traps. 2 pikes forming a big wiggly snake gives you a lot of flexibility to put bases in difficult positions and trap your opponents - always something to look out for!
Not when Aragorn can turn around and kill whatever models are in base contact. Use the pike snake allows for minimal casualties but decent damage output

Brutal Power Attacks don't get doubled To Wound rolls on trapped models. Of course the required roll to wound doesn't change on the specific guys you used Rend on but in other matchups it matters.
So was the barrel jumpable or climbable for Frodo? If it was jumpable Frodo wouldn't have needed a jump test for jumping off it. If it was climbable he wouldn't have been allowed to be moved up it by the Isengard player since a 1 could've hurt him.
(Edit: actually it couldn't since 1s while climbing up knocks you prone without a S3 hit. You did use the terms 'climb' and 'jump' interchangeably so maybe make a clear differentiation anyway :P)
Strictly looking at it the barrel was a bit higher than Frodo so it would've required climb tests.

Could you have have used Frodo's will for the ring tests?
Love the batrep, but is there a reason you didn't use the Amon Hen scenario for this battle? It fits perfectly for a Fellowship vs Isengard battle, although the objectives are very specialised.

13:25 I think you would've killed the uruk on a 3 as you're using Anduril
Since he wasn't two-handing it wouldn't have been enough. Oh also Aragorn doesn't have Anduril in the Legendary Legion
@@JakobDrawitsch Ahh fair enough. Uruk hai bane d3 to wound could've helped as he rolled a 3 on d6, so round to 4? (mention at 2:22)
@@morgan.w5019 you probably read my comment before my edit that he doesn't have Anduril in the LL anyway. So yeah, only pure S4 strikes.
The orcs had shields you should have used it to prevent deaths
The Uruk Hai do have shields but there was no situation where Henry needed to shield. It was much more worth him taking the risk of loosing his troop to do the damage. Also when you shield you can't be pike supported which means that if you shield you would have less attacks than if you had two pikemen and wouldn't be able to strike blows
What we’re the points for each side starting? Seems heavily weighted for Isengard, even without the troll
They both come out to just under 500 on battlescribe, assuming 20 uruk hai warriors each with a 1-point pike or shield. It does look really lopsided though. Too bad the LL doesn't let you take Boromir's shield or it would hit exactly 500 and be quite helpful.
Yeah they’re all a bit squishy without armor and shield. Especially Legolas wounding on 4s, Aragorn on 5s ! The hobbits are dead points really apart from their might for heroic moves. Tactic to have Frodo with the ring half the troll’s fight value was good but couldn’t capitalise

@@craig3111 it hurt opting to leave gimli out of this list. He's one of its best killers with the galadriels locks, two axes or the master forged 2 handed axe, plus throwing axe, the banner effect of the fellowship. I would've left pippin and Merry or Legolas behind

Are they too OP?
- Aiglos and Narsil, none could withstand: once per game Gil Galad and Elendil can both declare a free heroic combat.
- Leaders of the alliance: if Gil Galad is alive, no elf can run away, if Elendil is alive, no Numenorian can run away.
-Discipline of the alliance: all models have the shield wall special rule.
ALL models must be on foot,
You HAVE to take Gil Galad (AL) and Elendil,
Numenorian heroes can only lead Numenorians, same for Elves
Profiles:
Gil Galad
Elendil
Elrond (no magic but a free banner that also gives your elves +1 fight value)
Isildur (no option for the ring)
High elf warriors
Warriors of Numenor
Dwarf warriors
All captain models
Elendil already has free heroic combats?

Spears and pikes support give that model one extra attack remember
You are totally correct the pike supporters contribute there attacks in the fight, we got this one correct every time

Thanks for the comment! It might not be apparent but Legolas is significantly more important than Gimli and Borromir because he gives you shooting superiority over every other army in the game (Every model in the breaking of the fellowship gets an elven cloak so your enemy can't fire back). With an all hero army you really need to use terrain to create choke points and if you don't out shoot your opponent you don't get to decide where the battle happens

Neither army had throwing spears but the troll had throwing stones which had a range of 12"
The troll has a shield use it
The troll can put out so much damage and has a really high defence anyway that shielding wouldn't have been worth it. The troll could reasonably kill a hero in one turn if he wins the fight and if he looses at worst he would take a wound or two so shielding isn't worth the trade off
