    Simply take the log of each side. It saves some work.

    Simply take the natural log of both sides and rearrange. (x+4)ln3=(x+3)ln4; (ln4-ln3)x=(4ln3-3ln4);
    x=(4ln3-3ln4)/(ln4-ln3)=0.8188...
