    Finally! I have been waiting to check out your Billy video. He was the first character I made and has a special place in my heart ;)

      @SecretBase no one requested him until now XD. But Billy turned out to be an amazing character to play as. I can confirm that throws that do not instantly do damage right away can benefit from what Billy has in this video :)

    Billy is my favorite. When I first started playing all his moves clicked for me day one. Once I figured out Jimmy though…I became invincible. Love this game!

      @graysonbrown9778 I started with Jimmy first. And his ground Up Special was the most satisfying move to land for me XD. But like Billy more since he was more flexible for me. Billy's running attack is a fun move to spam when you're having those "days" XD

    I forgot to watch this til now. 😶Good job w/info & impressive combos.
    That RCG2 mention made me check, & I read, then saw the trailer of those two coming to that game in summer. 🙂Fun vid.

    Great guide my friend! I love this game I just wish they'd fix the online.

      @BubsArcadeFighters thanks! What's wrong with online? I don't use the online features much so I am unaware of them.

      First day of online would kick me out of the game every screen change.
      2nd day I played the whole game through with a really good player/streamer.
      So my experience is really mixed

    I like these devs because they let cancel move into each other. While some others just nerf everything to make the game boring.

      @notsobrightgamer  4 месяца назад +1

      @halcyonways1476 True. It does give the game more depth to it. As simple as it looks, there are more layers if people wanted to dive more into it.

    Hello. You seem to be ell versed in this game. How is the game right now as of July 2024? I read some early reviews on launch and the reception on the mechanics on Steam seemed to be mixed. Have the developers of Double Dragon Gaiden addressed player criticisms?

    • @notsobrightgamer
      @notsobrightgamer  Месяц назад +1

      @brightsuperstition heya, as of right now July 2024 I would say the game is in a good state in terms of single and local co-op. Though of course we want more XD
      Gameplay mechanics wise it's more complex than TMNT Shredders Revenge, but less complex than River City Girls 2. Though I'd say its more difficult than the two. As I categorize TMNT and River City Girls 2 as more a "party" game where anyone can join in and can still make a impact. Double Dragon Gaiden is simple at first but progressing on harder difficulties it becomes sort of a don't get hit game as you and your enemies are not invincible when getting up after falling on the ground, so it's easy to get punished. Though specials and tagging in your partner character are ways to prevent this.
      Survival/V.S/Online mode was added along with three FREE dlc characters. As they were asked for by the community. At first survival was too easy and the new upgrades were over powered when certain ones were obtained together on the same run. As of now, survival is a bit repetitive in terms of waves. There were about 1 or 2 updates to address this. Though I personally haven't done a long run yet recently, to fully confirm this.
      As for online from what I gather it's a bit of a challenge to find random lobbies to play with others (as it may be a little too late, as launch is probably the best time for online, in less popular games). As they were criticized for not having online at launch which would have boosted its outlook and ratings launch. But I've heard things didn't go as planned for them so they did the best they could with what they got. Though they did follow through with what many were asking for and that was online. Though it wasn't perfect at first, they did another update to address the issues players had.
      And for the free DLC characters Sonny was asked for a lot so we got him.
      tl;dr ;)
      Great game for single or local co-op
      Gameplay mechanics are simple but more complex than traditional old school arcade beat em ups. To want you to learn more if you are interested.
      A bit challenging in harder difficulties but still enjoyable.
      Most of the concerning criticisms were answered mostly, but the one criticism that cannot be changed are the graphics unfortunately at this stage. Also people want more stages as well since it's kind of short, not like Streets of Rage 4, this hasn't been addressed I believe but there is a budget issue and original planning couldn't go as planned.
      Most importantly all characters are unique with a slightly to extremely different playstyle so no clones which is always a plus in my book.

      @@notsobrightgamer Thank you for the very in-depth explanation. Like I said, the initial reviews made me wary, but DDG has always been in my wishlist because I love tag combat games (like Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle). The fact that the online doesn't have a big population is perfectly fine for me, since I'm only seeking a singleplayer experience. One last question: Another thing that made me wary about the game on launch was the constant pop-up notifications every time you performed crowd control. I've read elsewhere that they've patched in an option to turn this off, so thank goodness for that. Anyway, once again, thanks for the response. Looking forward to watching your videos on DDG here once I beat the game and want to get better at each character.

    • @notsobrightgamer
      @notsobrightgamer  Месяц назад

      @brightsuperstition your welcome! Oh yes, you're right about the pop up screen when doing crowd controls (defeating 3 or more enemies with a special simultaneously.) That issue has been patched quite early on and it's the options somewhere.
      I don't talk about the tag feature in my videos much as it gets complicated when it comes to combos and combinations XD.
      But will say about the tag feature it feels a bit limited as your tag partner is forced to be placed in mid air when swapping, regardless where your swapping from. While that's not a bad thing, not all characters have a good double jump/running jump aerial attack or a aerial special to use to safety get down when in a pinch, that just feels limited in a way for me.
      Oh that reminds me that there was one more issue that players have that i read about somewhere though it won't affect your situation though :), i believe it's not resolved yet, but for the PC/Steam version when it comes to 2 players. That it's not possible to play with two controllers yet. I know one keyboard one controller and one keyboard with two players does work.

    My main man Billy! He's SO much better than Jimmy in this game.

    • @notsobrightgamer
      @notsobrightgamer  4 месяца назад +1

      @guilhermencb I agree. Since Jimmy has a grab special that just handicaps him against large enemies. And his quickest special to do knock damage is his neutral that leaves him hanging in mid air.

    • @graysonbrown9778
      @graysonbrown9778 4 месяца назад +2

      Hard disagree. Billy has the most options with great speed and utility, but Jimmy’s Dragon claw is arguably one of the best supers in the entire game. Also Jimmy’s damage is next level.

    • @notsobrightgamer
      @notsobrightgamer  4 месяца назад +1

      @graysonbrown9778 I see where you're coming from. I have a preference for moves that work on everyone :). I always found it silly that Marian can pull someone and drag them over and lift them over her head XD

    • @guilhermencb
      @guilhermencb 4 месяца назад +1

      @@graysonbrown9778 Jimmy can't use Dragon Claw against large enemies/bosses, Dragon Rage can be easily interrupted, and the Dragon Upper-thing isn't that good either. His combo is slow and far from effective, same applies to his dash attack. Billy has no flaws. Jimmy has a plate full of them, a heavy hitter that doesn't hit that heavy.

    • @graysonbrown9778
      @graysonbrown9778 4 месяца назад +1

      @@guilhermencbBilly’s flaw is his damage. That’s it. There are only 6 large enemies in the entire game - 1 enemy 5 bosses, 4th Anubis, Mayor, Abobo, Willy, Bruno, and the Muscles besides them everyone else’s can be grabbed. Jimmy also shreds bosses quickly with his punch elbow combo which can be finished with Dragons Rage. Jimmy require a bit more finesse, strategy, and practice than Billy. But he is not significantly handicapped or weaker in any way.
