I'm binge watching anything I can find showing old matches of Ronnie O'Sullivan after he won his record equalling to Stephen Hendry 7th World Championship Title. Could watch him play snooker all day!
Guys a bottler shites it everytime should have beaten hendrie at least 4 times just never had the gift to handle the pressure when it mattered most unlike osullivan and hendrie if white did have that mental side of the game he would easily have won 4 or 5 worlds
@@user-lz7tk5ec1w Jimmy ruined his game by drinking and gambling and not practicing enough. Unlike the other 2 you mention who's barely drank a bottle of vodka between them in their life. Jimmy is one of the most gifted player to ever play on a snooker table. He just liked a drink more!

"Just when he was closing in on a great victory, an easy ball eludes him," might just sum up Jimmy's career. But part of what made him so compelling was that he could pot anything BUT he could also miss anything. Maybe if he'd won one of this World Championship finals, he'd have drifted off the tour and into comfy obscurity? As it is he seems to have maintained a genuine outsider status.
Frankly speaking, there is a few players (and not only in snooker), which make a kind of art from each match. Ronnie and of course Jimmy are from those ones! Thank you guys for your masterpieces!
Nice to see Jimmy still playing, great player and also his mate Alex Higgins, characters what sports lacks today. Tennis John McEnroe darts Eric n Jocky
Such a shame. One of the most naturally talented players of all time. Amazing in his prime but I think the pressure just gets too much for Jimmy in the crucial moments. Absolute legend of the game and one of the GOATs.
I've been a fan of Jimmy's for nearly 20 years now and I'm glad I've been able to witness him at the peak of his career and was able to avoid the 80s and 90s when he was struggling to learn the game
I loved watching Jimmy but he was so frustrating at times.. too much of the chancer hit and hope at the most crucial of times in matches, he has thrown so many away that he could of won if he just made the right shot choice. I think thats whats hold him back in the past by lifting the world trophy, and I feel he could of lifted it at least twice during his career if he had been more careful. He gets nervous and seems to lose his cool when his opponent steps up a gear. Brilliant player to watch though. Him and alex higgins were amazing in the 80s haha.
I agree although most of his world finals were against the greatest players of the time(Davis and Hendry)Jimmy has won more than what people think and is in the top 10 of ranking event winners.I agree though if he won at least half of the finals he was in he would have won loads.
Jimmy really needed a sports psychologist early on in his career. The only difference between the two is temperament. Ronny is solid mentally. Jimmy is very fragile. I remember seeing Jimmy lose to Hendry in the crucible final giving up a 6 frame lead. Jimmy's raw talent is unquestionable. Arguably better than Ronnie when it comes to cue control just lacks that killer mentality something Hendry had in abundance. The difference between the elites is not skill but mental strength focus and concentration. Somethings Jimmy wasn't consistent at.
he may have pulled off all the best shots in history but his consistency is atrocious even in his prime he would loose position far too often and miss too many easy shots something that Ronnie never did after the 90s. Jimmy bottled it far too often smoked, drunk, did drugs which is complete opposite of Ronnie.
Agree with most of what you said, but Ronnie is definitely not 'solid mentally'. Not talking his game down, it's unquestionably best in the biz, but watch any Ronnie doc and it's clear he struggles too.
Last century ,living and working in England and during the on-Call duty in the NHS we usted to wach ITV macht during the night time That time in anaesthesia formation we were one in three nights on call and by that time Jimmy was amazing actually he is doing fine yet

What's more incredible is that there exists a commentator anywhere on the planet that doesn't understand how Rocket Ronnie can dial down his pace for a friend who at '92 not unlike Ronnie will have had to suffer through another tricky day very very unlike all the days before, untold but not unsung. Were Jimmy to swagger through his matches it would be interesting to see the roll of the ball that the gods would most assuredly grant.

Always amazed by how low jimmy cued on the cue ball his entire career So little margin for error Fantastic player Legend But man he chipped the ass of a cue ball
I noticed that too. But I also noticed he cued that low on the ball for pretty much every shot he hit below centre - feathering low enough to touch the table and then adjusting his cue height at the very last millisecond of his striking stroke just before the tip actually makes contact with the ball. It’s a heck of a lot of unnecessary movement on the cue as he’s striking which could be a reason why he randomly misses what professionals would consider to be easy pots every now and then? Makes you wonder.
Jimmy is brilliant superb but he always crumbled under pressure I am a long time steve davis fan and grew up to all his matches and in finals he flew in early stages then when it got close to the end he would get nervous and miss the odd easy crucial shots and lost on so many occassions to top players Definately should have won world titles without question and would have if kept his nerves at bay no question he would have flawed anyone a lot more
