  • Now Thermaltake is stepping up the game with new line of power supplies and also DDR5 Memory. They actually want to aim many of their products for enthusiasts and they were kind enough to send me a sample from both component categories.
The Thermaltake Toughpower 3rd generation power supplies are probably one of the first power supply models on the market that are ATX3.0 compatible out of the box and thus support the highly debated 12VHPWR power connector natively. On the video I check out the largest unit which is the Toughpower GF3 1650W and offers better results than what I originally expected at least on the European Mains power (230V) standard.
Native 12VHPWR connector cables are a lot more convenient than having to use the famous Nvidia or 3rd party adapters to convert 3 or 4 PCI-E 8-pin power connectors into one 12VHPWR connector.

Thank you! After your video, I bought a used one of these for $240 USD. I wish EVGA updated their power supplies.

Great PS for a dual 4090 system! Beautiful looking box, great silk screening and well spaced outputs. Love the quiet mode switch.

Yeah, as a Mechanic of over 40 years now, I can tell you that most issues are caused by the owner/user. This occurs with everything! Cars, computers, castles, and canines!
Excellent review as always. Also, I would like to say that I was happy to see that you got to Taiwan to the EVGA overclocking event.
Have a great day, Sir! o7

as a mechanic of over 25 years I can also attest that sometimes things are just under-engineered. I think we can agree about this.

@@ryanmalin Oh for sure! Just as much as things that are over engineered! Complexity is the enemy of reliability! And just cause it's new, doesn't mean it's good! NEW= Never Even Worked! LOL!

I won't go with thermaltake components because of their warranty policy, they won't cover parts damaged by their power supplies. This psu at 850w fried itself and my motherboard on boot after working for 2 weeks.

Got one of these back in December. Mine was absolutely god awful.
Ran it with a Ryzen 9 5900X with an ASUS TUF 4090. The fan on this PSU was absolutely spastic for some reason. If I loaded any type of game, the fan in the PSU would speed up high, then drop low, then high, and low. No pattern or anything, just at random, and quick intervals, like it couldn't make up its mind if it needed to speed up or slow down.
It did this non-stop and constantly. If that wasn't irritating enough, it would instantly shut down at random as well. 50W on 4090, 250W on 4090, anything in between, it didn't matter. I figured it was temperature, maybe it was being suffocated somehow. Nah, it was perfectly cool after shutdown, and air clearance was perfectly fine.
First time I bought Thermaltake PSU, and it will be the last.

I've heard of seasonic 1200w PSUs shutting off because of power spikes on 3090 and 3080ti even on 500w bios. They are weak. Superflower ftw 💪💪💪

Yeah they don't have much overhead on the OCP.

  • @WillVerduzco
    @WillVerduzco Год назад +1

I picked one of these up a month or two ago to replace a rebadged Super Flower Leadex II (EVGA G3 1000W) to get a bit more overhead for transients and for the convenience of the native 12VHPWR connector.
It's been pretty good other than the one potential issue you identified in your video: noise. This PSU is pretty loud once the fan abruptly kicks in when gaming and set to silent mode, and the always-on fan mode is no better since the minimum fan volume is also pretty loud.

Yes great supply but the fan is too loud, I replaced it with a be quiet pure wings 2 (140 mm). Now it is perfect ^^ zupimages.net/up/23/07/1wgm.jpg

Ringa ding ding the Corsair AX1600i is still the king.
Can't believe that the best power supply was not mentioned. Look at all the test charts even ones done by Aris and you will see the AX1600i still tops the charts after all these years in nearly every category.
It's not cheap but you can find it on sale every so often. That power supply was overengineered compared to the cheap stuff made today. I would get one of those over this any day.
I get a feeling Corsair will stop making that powerhouse if they already haven't because of its high production cost.
