So you pretty much nailed it right on the head. This show was almost perfect as it scored the highest score ever at a 99.55 with perfect scores in Visual and General Effect and only losing .45 in the Brass category. It was a little strange because BlueCoats did “Tilt” on 2014 and were really the crowd favorite but The Blue Devils made this show look so easy that it’s just nuts. We have another great one tomorrow 👍
99.65, actually. And I would argue there are tiny moments in other aspects of the show where they probably should've lost marks as well (guard weren't all together every time, some perc hits weren't synced, etc.) but we're nitpicking. This is one of those really special shows you have to appreciate even if you're not the biggest BD fan. I love the more concept-heavy shows that Bluecoats do, but the Devils have a knack for getting the absolute best out of the kids and I respect that a lot. And also, as a friendly correction of course, their lost marks were in Music generally, not just brass. They actually placed second in Percussion.
It’s funny how drum corps people descend on any channel doing react videos. It’s so fun seeing people react to the activity. I hope you can have the chance to catch a show in person someday. They’re all over the country over the summer, so there’s likely one close to wherever you live. Seeing and feeling it live in 2000 changed my life. Been a drill and visual designer for 16 years, and am designing for a world class corps this year. A dream come true. 💜
I love the Devils! they came in 2000 to Eindhoven and we as a simple corps had a greate time with those kids! So young and so professional...awesome!!!
At 2:58 the right side of the line that comes towards the sidelines, those people actually play Mellophone. But they had to learn Trumpet for the opening statement. Thats why they are headed towards the sideline to pick up their actual instruments. Also I don't know if this has been mentioned in a previous video but the people on that field have to be under the age of 21, judges aren't included in that obviously
You should check out Highly’s playlist as I introduced him to DCI and WGI almost a year ago and he is becoming quite good at reacting to what those of us that have been involved in the activity react to but if you watch his first 10 or so, he asked so many questions and made so many great reactions as he fell in love quickly with the activity!
Wait, wait 2:38 Mellophone players were doing that? You imagine how hard it would be going from half notes and whole notes to playing that fast? The amount of practicing to nail that must have been insane.
@@sjenny5891 every brass block of every day. The mello players had the lower splits though, but there were still 8 or so separate lines between the 40 of us.

Thanks for the shout-out, I marched with the Crossmen in 2017 so I'm absolutely in love with DCI.
