- This week we’re prepping for Autumn, celebrating a new opening in Midhurst and whipping up my favourite super easy soup!
My week began with a show jumping competition with Coco and Hooch at Hickstead, where Coco’s school came 5th and 6th out of 17 - a fabulous result! As always I’m so incredibly proud of my girl, especially as last week she was named Head Girl at her school.
We then attended the opening of Emma O’Malley’s beauty area within her already wonderful hair salon - now offering facials, aesthetics and more. I always receive such stellar service when getting my hair done at Emma’s, and now it’s truly a one-stop shop for all your pampering needs if you’re ever near Midhurst!
That gorgeous day with my girl then ended with a trip to Wagamamas and the cinema to see Ticket To Paradise, which was such a feel-good film, suitable for all the family. We loved it!
Later in the week, a friend came to visit, so I whipped up a batch of my delicious carrot and tomato soup using vegetables from the kitchen garden, including my extra satisfying haul of carrots. If you saw my carrots last year, you’ll know why I’m celebrating this year’s harvest!
You can download and print the recipe by visiting my website at the link below - I always make more than needed and freeze inside yoghurt pots, they’re the perfect single-serving size.
Lastly, I take you through a few of my new goodies for Autumn, including a gorgeous sage green corduroy shirt from Beaufort and Blake and the best eco-conscious, reusable advent calendar from L’Occitane - who are fast becoming my favourite skincare line of all time! You have got to check out this advent calendar, filled with a vast selection of their most iconic products. I am so excited to hang it up I may have to do it pre-December!
Watch the video now for all of that and more, including why I’m attempting sugar-free for October, our plans for the AGA during the cost of living hikes and how I’m continuing to prep for this autumn/winter.
Love, Charlie x

Such a great video as always, and a huge well done to CoCo!🌟Xx
Thank you so much Katie xxx
Lovely video, really enjoyed the length too. I can only drink biodynamic/organic/clean natural wines low in sugar to avoid a headache or even just a bit of puffiness in my face the next day. I do find that certain cocktails really agree with me- Negroni for example or even a well made herbal vermouth can be such a treat. The show jumping was a delight :) And now I’m off to the market because I am craving a fall soup!
Thank you Karen really pleased you enjoyed watching, yes I think I am the same re wine! Enjoy making the soup x
Totally with you on the wine front….any alcohol really. It is sad because you know those days when you could just really use a glass, goodness🙈! So now when I am having one of those days…. I have just a sip from a liquor glass and it does the job fine - except it makes me feel like a desperate granny stealing a nip 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Isn’t aging such fun! Thanks again Charlie for the fun and inspiration 💐
Oh I hear you 🤣 been one of those days here!! Trying to laugh about it! Xxx
Great recipe!
I’ve been enjoying your videos. While I love the tips and tricks on homemaking, I love your fashion sense and style even more. So I look forward to you modelling your purchases and sharing your finds. Keep up the good work Charlie!
Oh thank you I really hope you enjoy nexts week’s video x
Lots of great content Charlie thoroughly enjoyed. Must admit miss my Aga as doing the same as you not turning it on until a little later. I have a brand new electric R7 but even on the lowest slumber it still uses a mouthwatering amount of electricity. I bought it as replacement for my oil Aga before electricity went silly. Being a cook and baker which I think most Aga owners are does affect us all so much so maybe some tips on economical cooking would be welcomed by all. I realise batch cooking is always a good way to go but we can always learn new things I am sure. Loved your new shirt and advent calendar very fun
Thank you Wendy I am working on tips to save money! Bare with me! Xxxx
Great although can’t wait to your fashion vlog and love that corduroy shirt I fiancé the denim blue and love their check shirts.
I tried to make soup for Handsy Mike and Mr Flange from the petrol station last week. Helen Bankes had a load of carrots which fell off the back of a lorry and I found what looked like parsley growing all over the churchyard. We spent about 4 hours chopping, mashing, cooking etc and eventually thought "sod it, Baxter's tinned carrot soup is easier, healthier, and cheaper than this faff." We cracked open a few tins, popped it in some rustic bowls and told them we'd made it. It was absolutely delicious but then it was made by a professional. Mr Flange even offered to write-off Helen's monthly bill for Twiglets (which comes to over £400, we have no idea what she does with them all).
Hi Charlie, great video, loved the chat, it was just like sitting down with an old friend talking about random things and laughing with the dogs, cooking and walking. Well done. I also suffer from Migraines if I drink alcohol, I never use to ..... Looking forward to next week.
Oh thanks Lynn, such a pain isn’t it, not that I am a big drinker but the occasional glass is nice but not with the headache that follows! Xxx
Great video! Your skin is looking amazing!
Thank you ❤
I would have never thought to put hummus in my veggie soup, I'll have to try it right away!
It’s delicious 😍
Well done Charlie another great video. The menopause has not been fun, headaches, feeling like you have woken up in a sauna:) Then to top it, alcohol doesn't agree with us even if we drink loads of water. Thank God for cake and chocolate. I couldn't go sugar free at the moment. Hats off to you. I will try in January when hopefully all will be less stressful. I am not having alcohol, so I need something sweet 🙂 Have a great weekend xx
Oh bless you! It’s tough, going sugar free has been easier than I thought it would be! Xx
Please share how you do your makeup! Your skin is flawless.
Thank you so much and will do xxx
I also have trouble opening sun dried tomato lids. I can usually open them wearing rubber gloves but if that doesn't work I will try the upside-down-on-the-Aga trick. Thank you. I'm going to try making the soup next week. (Your dogs trick me into thinking it's my dog making the noise.)
Oh sorry about the dogs, it’s so hard filming with them! Yes do try the trick great for all jars! X
Great vlog - I can totally empathise re the bathroom situation having been through something similar! Try Swiss wine if you can get your hands on any, I had completely given up on wine in my 20s for similar reasons until I tried it. Never had any problems since and tend to avoid wine unless it’s Swiss!
Gosh it’s frustrating isn’t it! Thanks for the tip re Swiss wine I will try! Xx
I’ve can’t drink Champagne or Cava or any sparkling wine which is so annoying. I love the taste, the bubbles and enjoy the whole occasion of popping the cork but it gives me the worse headache. At weddings and special events I just take a small sip to toast and cheers but I don’t dare finish off the glass. I can drink red wine thankfully without the same affects but not as much as I used to. Two glasses and I’m anyones! Lol! 🥴 So yes I feel your pain on the wine vs headache front. The only bubbles I enjoy now is in the bath. And on that note, hope you enjoy your long soak in the tub this weekend 🛀
Oh Honor I hear you! I have been having wonderful baths and showers just blissful
Should also have said Coco turned her pony out beautifully so well done her and lovely clean clear round big well done. Good choice of rug as well very smart. Do you do the clipping as well?
Thank you she try’s so hard! I have just started clipping them! Cassie last weekend and Hooch yesterday! X
Oh blimey I do love them when clipped so much easier and more comfortable for our loved ones when it gets muddy and they get sweaty! And of course all warm with their lovely clean rugs.
Wished we could get Dry Farm wines from America
Yes so do I!
I respect to everyone who were involved in this, Seriously the best piece that I' ve ever seen on RUclips, HATS OFF TO WELL ALL ! LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!! 💖❤😒😊💖
Thank you
I’m just replying out of synchronicity: I was just telling my mother today how the only “liquor” that seemed to have no (immediate) side effects was G&T.
I always have been sensitive to wine. However trying bio organic wines and noticing how differently wines like Portuguese Vino Verde or even Douro, I do think that a lot comes from sulfites, additives and how they are fermented.
The mystery about G&T is still entirely unexplained. So if you get a clue from a naturopath of from that lady who talks about woman’s health…The one I had tonight is a small batch of a lovely lavender colour (blue pea flowers). The herbal mix wouldMaybe the quinine in the tonic too?
Finally I also did notice that gluten made me very tired. Especially at lunch time. I tried to start eating at 2pm (intermittent fasting) and my level of energy was definitely much higher. The only issue is to have black coffee until then. Which I can’t really handle…
Anyway, missing England very much. So I am vicariously in that dear countryside.
I will definitely try to find out more about it to share! Xx
