Thanks for sharing your AGA with us. I also have an electric dual control (my first AGA) and I love it. Living in the US they are an uncommon choice, but it is the best "crazy" purchase I ever made. Hesitant to give tips to a pro like you, but I really try to cook without turning on the hotplates, both to save electricity since the ovens are already on, and to minimize clean up. My best "tricks" ---eggs in their shells right on the floor of the simmering oven, 20ish minutes for sot boiled, about 50 minutes for hard boiled, toast cooked directly on the floor of the roasting oven, fried eggs, toasted sandwiches and quesadillas cooked on bacoglide on the floor of the roasting oven, pasta cooked in cold water on the floor of the roasting oven, and most casseroles I both "fry" up the veg and meat and bring it to the boil on the floor of the roasting oven and then move to the simmering oven.
Fabulous Charlie……I don’t have an Aga but watched because I knew you would make it interesting and easy to listen and learn from. You’re such a natural teacher 💯💜💜💜👏👏👏👏
Really interesting Charlie. I have an old school oil-fired aga & wondered why you had your spices right beside yours, thinking it would be too hot but all is now clear. I also have a rack above mine & store my saucepans there.
Loved this ❤so interesting to learn more about the electric Aga’s. Ours is gas. I have been using an Aga for the last 2 years. I never knew anything about them until I found your channel. You have been so helpful. Thank you so much Charlie ❤
Hi Charlie ,thank you for sharing. I have only been cooking on my gas Aga for 6mths, but am a complete convert! Look forward to learning more from you in future videos. 👍👍
Great video Charlie, I started watching you when you did your AIMS Aga big clean must be 5 years ago now. Moved from oil when I had new kitchen and have an R7 which is succeeded the dual control 8n name but has exactly the same controls. I love it so clean as well no smell or worry of going out. Much more reliable, like you keep mine on slumber unless doing lot of baking, roasting etc then can go to low and RO is still 210/220. Only turned to normal at Christmas. I also love the way can continue to cook veg after first boiling for 5 mins and can continue steaming in SO or BO. I am a little biased!!😊
Thank you Charlie, so interesting. I don’t have an Aga myself, but am keen to hear all about it from an expert! You never know when this information may come in handy!
Thank you Charlie, I had been put off electric Aga's because they were not always warm and I do use mine for the laundry - I find it invaluable for that! - so it is nice to see that you are happy with yours! thank you! I am going to see what Range exchange can do for me xx
I love my Aga too !! Had to wait until I was 50+ to eventually get one but I adore cooking on it, is so effortless and nothing beats it after a day out in the cold plus in addition to all its other uses it is a brilliant pizza oven when it’s too cold to use the Ooni outside 🤣 Thank you for sharing 😘😘
Thank you Charlie as always so informative . I have had my beloved Aga for 30 years I ADORE HER but oil is so expensive now and she is on 365 days of the year🫣 as I have no other means of cooking .May I ask does your Aga drop temperature whilst cooking as mine does ?. When we down size it will break my heart to leave her and a normal cooker fills me with dread. This morning you have filled my heart with joy as I will show my darling husband your vlog it sounds a wonderful solution .Moving will be hard enough without leaving my beloved Aga behind X
I’ve been so excited for your kitchen tour and AGA review. I renovated at the same time you have and I feel like we went through the journey together. The ups and the downs! Even though we’re literally a world apart as I live in Australia. Thank you for sharing your expertise with us. I really appreciate it. Just thought I would add that you can use the floors of new AGA’s. I have a new ER7-100. You just have to use a grid on the floor then you can put your pan on that, as the floor elements are very hot compared to older models. And I believe you don’t need the grid with new on-all-the-time models but you’d have to double-check that one. I’m going to check out your course as I still have so much to learn 🥰 Cheers, Ash x
Hi Charlie, informative vlog, thank you. I wonder where the steam / condensation goes? Especially with drying clothes, don’t you need some sort of venting / extractor fan to prevent dampness? 😊🌻
Charlie well done for the brilliant demo. I think it maybe really good to mention just how many pans you can get on one hob. People think that 2 hobs means 2 pans, I can get 3 good size pans on one hob, I have the AgaE3. Another thing is that the electric Agas don't need servicing. Thank you again Charlie.
We have the same dual control Aga too, we love it! 🥰 please could you advise where Nigel got the metal poles from and what brackets he used? We have a similar set up with a built in surround but plenty of space above that we could accommodate a similar designed washing solution. Thanks Charlie as always super helpful xx
Thank you Charlie,That was super useful, I have a old Aga Solid fuel which I am unable tu get Antaracite for I am in southern Ireland. I WILL CONACT AGA EXCHANGE re Irish reps for advice re conversion tu oil or a reconditioned electric many thanks.i love so much my old Aga and miss it so much in a country farmhouse where its the heart of the kitchen.many thanks
Hi Charlie . Thanks for the demonstration on your electric Aga. I have an oil fired Aga and I love it. It's awake 24/7 and my husband services it twice a year . The running costs per week are similar to your Aga . We save quite a bit on electric as we don't need a kettle , toaster etc. Do you ever use the simmer plate for toast using Bac-o-glide sheets?
Thank you Charlie. Did you consider other models when you got your new Aga. We are thinking about getting an Everhot as I have heard they are very efficient but I have no direct experience of either.
No the laundry doesn’t smell, I keep the top of my Aga clean and grease free the the smells don’t come out which is why it’s easy to forget you put something in and forget about it 😂
My friends think I’m mad because I constantly rave about my Aga , which is an original cream one from we think was first used in 1950’s been converted to gas and costs us about £20 per week , a lot of people don’t know how to use them properly including my Husband won’t be told drives me mad even sent him to Aga course which they used to run at the Aga shops , to no avail . Now hate using an ordinary cookers if on holidays . So advise any newby Aga owners to your course .
I have an ancient oil aga and it is just such a wonderful way of life! I almost don't want the summer to come because I turn it off to prevent the kitchen from being unbearably hot or from my husband muttering about the costs! Where are the aga pads from - I really need a new pair?
Thank you Charlie, we love our AGA and agree it is a way of life that becomes the heart of the home 😊
Thank you so much Charlie 🙏 I will look into the pricing 😜
