Blonde is less maintence for me bc of the type of blonde I do...your right some blondes are super high maintence like the super light blondes...my natural color is dark blonde/light brown so all I do are afew highlights every few months and use a purple shampoo...the red I looooved but the vibrancy I had to constantly maintain every few weeks and my roots needed to be done every month:/

I've been dying my hair copper for 6 years now. I'll never go back to my bleach blonde, but it's certainly been a ride. I've had some serious mishaps - at home and in salon. Too dark, too red ... it's hard to correct and you're kind of stuck with it for a bit. Overtone ginger has been the best at home product I've used for color deposit. Kristen Ess gloss in copper is also good. My roots grow fast which is a downside for me, but I use a root powder which doesnt conceal it entirely but it helps. I also got bangs a few months ago and surprisingly it also helps conceal the roots because of the way the copper frames my face vs seeing a visible part where my roots were before.
I think going red is daunting at first but I've become pretty used to it and bleach used to really do my hair in. The color also sticks the longer and longer you do it I think - mine doesn't fade nearly like it used to. I wish more people went red because it's such a beautiful color that would flatter so many people.
Eyebrows to match though, that's a different story ....

I am so surprised to see so many people say that red is daunting or it’s hard work. I think it’s great. I really loved red most of my life used to use color Ella now I use only AGEbeautiful. I would really suggest age beautiful to anti-aging gear color. I noticed my hair doesn’t fall out as much. I don’t wash my hair maybe once or twice a week and I put my hair in rollers. Vintage style like to hear other peoples stories 👩🏻‍🦰 🧑🏻‍🦰

I solved the problem using henna, like pure Lawsonia inermis with no additives. It lasts forever and it makes the hair so silky and shiny! You have to be really committed, but I love my red and I would never change it

I also struggle with the ‘gray’ root stripe! I’ve settled more into having my natural root and keeping my red more of a coppery/strawberry blonde (originally a warm blonde balayage) with my natural color pulled through a bit lower and this seems to be more low maintenance. I LOVE these warm copper tones with my skin tone but I HATE that ash blonde/gray root!!!!

  • @Icykrissy

I’m switching from red to blonde (my natural) exactly because of the high maintenance part.
My shower is stained red from orange pigmented conditioners. Looks like a murder scene every time.
Dying my roots every 3 weeks was a huge pain of my ass. So excited to be blonde again!

Do you think the red was ultimately more damaging bc of the need to dye more frequently whereas blonde can be more of a one stop shop situation?

As someone whos had copper/red hair for 5 years now, always via salon, do you think overtone is a good enough product that I would be able to maintain my color at home using it every few weeks?

I was thinking about going back Marilyn Monroe blond bombshell, but I think it’s thins out your hair if you have like level six dark brown
I’ve been using age, beautiful anti-aging hair color line so it’s really good product from Sally’s but very gentle. I’m on the fence about going to extreme blonde input.

Such an informative video :) Since my previous comments on your red dye formula etc, I’ve gone red and have loved it!
I just had my second appointment after almost 2 months and went slightly more “red copper” and realized that the darker, more saturated red copper rather than ginger/more orange copper is not my favorite. It looks natural but gosh do I look pale during fall 😅 I’m hopeful that the darker shade will fade just as well so I may be able to add back more of the orange/ginger. Any tips or suggestions you may have are appreciated to make this transition as seamless as possible!
Knowing what your experience has been is very helpful and I’m so glad you posted this video so I can know what to expect should I go back to anything near my natural shade (mouse-y brown/dishwater blonde). Please keep sharing!

We are so similar! I too am a hairdresser- I’m 31- I’ve been copper before and LOVED it! But like you- I’m not a high maintenance girl- and I am also ash based brown/blonde and the roots were terrible! I do feel I should put a smidge more effort into my hair- because frankly- there are times my hair doesn’t reflect my skill/abilities 🤪 (homeschool mama of 4).

In Spain we have a sentence that says :"En casa del herrero, cuchillo de palo" which means that when someone is a professional in a sector sometimes it's not the best example of that sector. Hairdressers often don't reflect their hablities. LOL.
Devon, you look pretty in both colors. And, like you, I'm a low maintenance woman. My kid will be 3 this december and the last time I went to a hair salon was when he was 8 months old... and before that I was maybe for 3 or 4yrs without going!

Agebeautiful red more anti-aging color. It’s the next level! My hair stopped falling out. I used arctic fox in September for Halloween and made my hair really orange and I left it on the recommended time and I did that. I noticed my hair was falling out definitely a lot more. I only use beautiful, but I really wanted to go blonde for a few years. I’m thinking I’m gonna stick with the red after this video and I’ll think with the redhead 👩🏻‍🦰 like you said think of your personality type and also blonde that shit cost more money in my opinion I don’t wash my hair more than maybe once a week twice weeks most I set my hair and vintage rollers 40s hairstyle I’m just getting a lot of gray so I’m going back-and-forth about it. I feel like blonde blends in with gray hair more but if you’re 50 years old, you’re gonna be coloring your hair a lot more. I’m just thinking out loud here.
