The sound design for the dragons this season has been incredible, especially in this episode. It really helps differentiate the creatures and make them feel alive.
This is a fascinating conversation to listen to. My family lived in Yorkshire in the same couple of villages along the river ouse for hundreds of years. They were caretakers for a land owning family, never having their own land. They came to America in the late 19th century and it really strikes me how amazing that opportunity would be to a family who has only ever been caretakers. Unfortunately my family sold their land in the middle of the 20th century opting for a modern life. My family is now migrating south for land to homestead and I resonate with my English ancestors as owning property in the northern states has become extremely unobtainable. Except, now it’s corporations owning land instead of the nobility.

Valyria does have some ancient Rome inspirations and given how much grrm inspired by real history this will be my little tangent. Into the era of kings many still had connections tsar, kaiser, and many roman emperors adapted Gaius or Caesar into their title to seek legitimacy. Kaiser is probably the closest to the original pronunciation. The dragons are obviously what makes the Targaryen's ordained by the gods. but if anyone can just tame a dragon then are the Targaryen's any special. so even a high-born bastard is considered way more legit than a lowborn bastard. Example William of Normandy. Jace isn't a bastard;) because he claimed a dragon his blood is pure, but if other bastards can claim a dragon, then it just further works against his claim and in a game of thrones what's to say a larys or littlefinger type character doesn't use a dragon rider to usurp the throne.
They didn’t plan for an ambush against Aemond. He should have gone ahead and fight them. He still has the biggest dragon, and above all, the experience. Addam, Ulf and Hugh have literally been dragonriders for just a few hours, they wouldn’t have known what to do and how to fight. Rhaenyra, Jace and Baela have never been in a dragon fight. Aemond could have focused his attack on Rhaenyra (if she takes off with Syrax) and maybe end the war.
When Hugh fell it looked like he may have cut his hand. It's possible Vermithor smelled the blood and knew Hugh was the one. I also think their personalities are similar...Hugh yelling and the dragon doing the same with fire.
Is it me orrrr can they literally just end the war by all teaming up and setting Vhagar ablaze while she’s sleeping in the field ? Literally that way no one dies and then she has the throne. Wonder why Mysaria didn’t think of that ? 😅
So once again, Daemon is missing all of the exciting stuff. And now he’s getting humiliated by a kid. They might as well kill him, they’ve assassinated his character so bad.
Did Willem Blackwood do as Daemon asked tho?? Flying Targ banners and such after being told that some things the crown cannot be seen to do? No sympathy here

Its s2 ep7 and you guys STILL confuse Baela for Rhaena. Common you are not normies and are fans of the universe
When I first read the book, I also got it confused a bunch. I just think of them in alphabetical order (B -> R) and then I never messed it up again
