I fell in love with the music of Miriam Makeba in 1970, I'm still listening in 2021! Gone but never forgotten, I Love you Mama Africa! RIP Beautiful Lady🙏💖🙏
Same here. I fell in love with her song as little kid in the early '70s. I knew about her through her album that had "One more dance; The naughty little flea; Pata Pata; The click song; and Iya guduza". In addition to being a great singer, she was a very great woman.
Hotep Mama MAKEBA and ThANKHs FOR THE AFRICAN AUTHENTIC NAMES OUR FREEDOM FIGHTERS LEADERS AND LIBERATORS. Let's us name them again and again and again. Maybuye i Afrika. Amandla Awhetu !
A very powerful piece of work. Very mouthful of those atrocities whose legacy still subsists. It's up for us Africans and all the downtrodden societies around the globe to stand up for the right course. The time is now to act. The time of slogans and rethorics should be of the past but pragmatically act going forward. I think in as much as she attracted large audences across the planet, she might have felt compromised on the other hand. She sang pure South African songs but with mostly Latin background. She might not have had the control of that, based on production and socio economic dynamics at the time. Back home, the young Nomfundo Xaluva and legendary Dudu Pokwana have also equally covered the beautifl rendition of the same son. They really didn't disappoint.
Why this song doesn’t feature on the list of the movie “long walk to freedom” beats me. I’ve manipulated the internet in all possible ways - only to discover that it was sang by Makeba. I’ve felt stupid.
Thank you Mama Afrika. Mayibuye I Afrika. Bring Back Africa. So Rest in peace Mama wethu. You fought a good fight and prevailed. We shall always remember you.
Mayibuye iafrika. This Great woman made a massive contribution to the struggle.Amandla!
This woman was a whole force...a whole revolution, single-handedly. RIP Mama Africa

Man, she was gorgeous!
Many saw her as a mere artist with a beautiful voice but I'd claim her as a great African intellectual now belonging to the ages.
Mophilosopher Gabariele I Am Of The Same Opinion...
I hope these people were listening to her as a prophet, rather than merely an artist. She is speaking the truth!
