So I've been listening to Wardruna, Heilung and Faun for literally YEARS and I'm today years old to find out there is a song by a project of Oliver S. Tyr (Faun) featuring Einar Selvik AND Maria Franz on vocals? What is wrong with you, youtube?
On this day of yuletide, I listen to this song and it will always bring bittersweet memories. I lost a daughter, a twin daughter born 25 seconds apart from her brother, and she passed on at 6 months old back in 2000, but Im sure she was accepted by my gods to recide in peace and wait for her family :-)
Twenty three years ago died my first child living only for 54 days. She would be my eldest daughter now. In course fo time I stopped to think about it, but when I heard this song, saw the video and read the translation I began to imagine how my and her lives would look out. Now I can't stop listen to this song ... and ... to cry. I miss her so much.
Knowing how the show plays out, the absence of a daughter must have had a serious influence. You see a different Ragnar afterwards that, maybe, only those with a daughter might understand why. I would be much colder without my daughter.
There's a lot of points in the show where people say Ragnar starts breaking, but I honestly think that Gyda dying was what started to fuck him up, even though it was so early in the show. I mean the next time anyone threatened his children he blood eagled Jarl Borg, and then headbutted Horik to death.
That ending scene just wrecks me. Ragnar watching the past, remembering. His wife, his son, his daughter, his dearest friend waiting and calling for him to come home, a place where everything was once right. Only to realize that it's all so far away now. As unreachable as the past; as the man he used to be.
I’m kind of wondering if the gray horse at the end was an omen for the girls death. In old European lore a gray mare usually was a metaphor or bad omen for death. Even in songs like I riden så, and herr Olaf the singers who eventually meet their untimely deaths were always riding a gray mare.
This video with this song kills me everytime.. poor and sweet Gida :( Translation: I carve healing runes, I carve protection runes, once against the elves, twice against the trolls, thrice against the frost giants Tulleri, lull Is he still alive? Far, far away in the forest Why yes, he is Why yes, he is The little one is lying in his cradle Take off your shoe and milk the cow And give the little one something good to drink I am busy, I cannot go out to pasture I am going to the field to harrow Well, the wind blows and birches go And the little one still sleeps so nicely Yes, the weather blows and the birches go I cannot lull the little one Lu la, is he still alive? Yes, yes, he is. Lu la, is he still alive? Yes, yes, he is.

Horrible video for someone with depression. OMG. I can't. Life is so horrible. Losing a child. How to go on. This song really reminds me of how dark the world really can be! No promises in this life. The worse that can happen, can and will happen no matter how positive a person you may be! If there is a God, he is a dark one!
@@Jarl_Thidrandi the soy part no. But many of today's bright colors were used by vikings. Bright saturated or pastel colors were viewed as power symbols. I'm in that same boat bro. Algorithms have failed us yet again.
Same here, a whole year later.
I WAS TODAY YEARS OLD WHEN
My first time now 35 years.
This may be the only song I like Maria Franz in. Huge fan of Selvik and Kaunan though

Einar and Maria??? I mean.. Wardruna and Heilung??
I'm still waiting for a full collaboration between Wardruna and Heilung. But I'll take this. This is so good.
I’m here for Maria Franz!!!!
Maria should have been an actress in The Vikings tv series. We love her in the U.S.!

Though I don't know you, your words brought tears to my eyes. I hope we get to meet those who have gone before us again someday.

Music is a universal language. I have no idea what she is saying, but its beautiful and I like it.

As the father of 4 daughters (and 1 son), the thought, the very thought of my daughters being taken from me, is almost too hateful to bear.
this is soothing, i have been broken for a long time. i found my place in life tonight... rest well
İncredible beautiful song... Live long.
These two need to make an album together. Just them.
And Aurora...

God damn, talk about hitting a nail straight on it's head.
Just seeing this compilation... it hurts. Gida was such a sweet girl. And the song is beautiful, very good combination
The idea of Gida in Valhalla greeting Ragnar Lagertha and Bjorn at the gateway of the Great Hall brings me great joy
The both most beautiful voices transcending symbiotic into a world, how she has to be...
WOW!! Amazing!!
Wow, takes my breath away. Thank you for sharing
oh my god, the feels...
Слава Роду. Слава тем кто пал в Битвах за Свободу...
Wow...thats made my eyes go all misty ?
This show and her voice with the music makes me feel so at peace and connected to the earth
I feel at home
This is where i belong
a shiver runs over my back...
Whole body.

Am from latín América but i like you're folk because is amazing.
You should try Folkheim. They're from Chile. They sound like a lot of the Euro folk bands but use Latin Amer imagery.
Absolutely beautiful 😊 ❤️❤️❤️❤️ perfection 👍

Lagertha is such a great woman
Damn !!!
This was so sad when the daughter dies. Maria Franz is not very well known in the U.S., but I think she is a fantastic artist. What happened to Euzen?

@@Stigmableedingblack lol. I try.
Can someone explain how the girl died? I am not familiar with "the show" that people are referring to.
OneSkiWonder She died from the plague. She was the only daughter of the two main characters of the show “Vikings”
Back in the old days, when children they were children, men they were men and women they were women and nobody was confused about it
You don't know that much about vikings do you? 😂😂
