David de Gea should be the first name on the Manchester United team sheet. His contract certainly suggests it.
But recently he has seen his place dislodged by 24 year old Dean Henderson. This wasn’t a surprise, de Gea’s form was faltering.

As a United supporter, De Gea is already a legend. He stayed with United during their worst years and pretty much kept us afloat. He was United's best player for 4-5 seasons and did all that with some absolute shite defences in front of him. With that being said, his time has passed and now Deano needs to take over. I really wish DDG the best and i know many United supporters feel the same way, he will go down a club legend.

He’s still capable of a world class performance every now and again, but all the faults and mistakes highlighted in this video are still relevant. Henderson saves the 3rd Leipzig goal all day because he is much braver and more commanding..De Gea is still the better shot stopper but you can see that the defence looks more comfortable with Henderson + Maguire rather than DDG + Maguire

2nd worst goals against per 90, with 3rd least shots on target against per 90 - the two below him both got the best and second best GA90 respectively; 2nd lowest save%, Dean Henderson got the best; second lowest wins per 90 - Deano is highest, highest draws per 90 - Deano is 2nd lowest, 0.12 more losses per 90 than Deano - who has the least losses per 90; tied lowest PSxG+/-, both in the negatives, the other was Eduoard Mendy; 2nd worst distribution stats (Deano is admittedly worst); only goalkeeper attempt no pressures on attackers in the box all season - Dean Henderson has second most attempted and the highest percentage of successful pressures; lowest percentage of crosses stopped, Dean Henderson is 2nd highest; lowest outside penalty area actions per 90, Dean is 2nd highest with 3 times as many as De Gea per 90; lowest average distance travelled for defensive action, Dean Henderson is 3rd highest.
I can go back a season and find similar stats, probably even go back as far as 2 seasons ago
At this point I can't believe anyone is defending De Gea any more, he was a brilliant servant to the club - but he's lost his edge and we can't keep overrating a player so much in such an important position just because he carried us for 5 years. It's time to move him on and give Deano and actual chance, based on his statistics for the past 2 seasons in the premier league, he deserves it.

He's been very good this season, has had multiple seasons when he's been literally their best player as a goalkeeper and had it all on his shoulders when they've been in very poor form, utd would be wrong to part ways with him and it'd be so disrespectful to one of the best players they've ever had. We Spaniards know the inside story of the decline of De Gea. As Tifo said, it starts in the World Cup, and it starts weeks before the tournament, with our Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, the idiocy personified, accusing De Gea and Atletic Bilbao's Iker Muniain, of being part of a prostitution ring. A claim, of course, debunked short afterwards.
I'll try to restrain myself of writing what I think, because Spain's internet gestapo would fine me, but pause for a second and put yourself in De Gea shoe's. The press, those mercenaries paid by the politicians, tore him apart. Imagine what it was being overtly called rapist by the Prime Minister. Newspapers calling for him to be removed of the national squad, prime time shows with a circle of feminist saying he should be put in jail, his girlfriend harrased in the streets by the paparazzi, calls for her to be removed of her TV show (she was a judge on Spain's talent show), and so on.
Of course a fucking politician wouldn't lose sleep with all that, but a professional athlete? One week Spain had the best goalkeeper in the world, and the next one we had a player that wasn't able to perform at all. His confidence never came back. The best goalkeeper in the world never came back.
Today's De Gea has just got his first child, maybe he doesn't even has his mind on football. I hope it's not the case. I hope her daughter gives him the mental stability to recover and be great again. And if he doesn't , I'll support him just the same.

2. De gea was only put into that position in the final because Ole refused to make subs to freshen up the team and the outfield players didn't kill off the game.

The timing of this video is weird because De Gea has had a solid season, people turning on him now because of Dean and their English bias is strange but expected. One keeper plays against top 6 teams and keeps the team afloat, the other keeps clean sheets playing domestic cups against considerably weaker teams but is praised more. Do a deep dive on Man United's terrible CB pairing because they are just as to blame as De Gea.
I mean they explain his decline very well in the video… not sure what you mean by the timing when they proved he has been far below average in comparison to other EPL keepers

His form is good right now. The goals he conceded this season, 1 or 2 are his fault. The rets is the defence and/or the midfield. Henderson played against weaker teams. Clean sheets are down to defence and midfield as well. Yes, he has declined. But he is still our no:1. Ole trusts him with Europa and not Henderson. Henderson is good, but as we saw yesterday, He can do unnecessary stuff, which could result in conceding an unnecessary goal., which we saw yesterday, it was offside, but no reason for him to run forward like that. People don't seem to understand this. He is still a very good keeper and has shown that this season. Ole will give De Gea the more important game over Henderson, as we have seen this season.

I personally feel yesterday's mistakes were necessary for him, I obviously wasn't happy but wouldn't scold him as a manager. It's better for them to learn their mistakes instead of pushing their confidence down by criticising

As the last line of defence, the GK has to do his best at all times to avoid conceding. All top goalkeepers make errors at some point or the other, but it's the frequency of those errors that is worrying for David. Nevertheless, he has been a top servant of the club and single-handedly won us a ton of games in the past.

Is that really the case though? For a team competing in multiple competitions like Manchester Utd, having goalkeepers that can play in different competitions is ideal to reduce fatigue. Also, if your No. 1 gets injured, you want a high quality replacement, given how integral shot stoppers are to a modern defence. Look at how Liverpool have struggled whenever Alison has been injured. Having two solid goalkeepers also places more pressure on the starting GK, with the idea being that his focus and motivation is increased.
Except if one is injured the other can step up to the plate easily instead of gambling on someone that is questionable?

People defending De Gea never seem to understand that he has to make seemingly "impossible saves for the camera" mainly because of his awful positioning and handling techniques. Compare him to Alisson. You don't need to make insane dives if you are positioning well and catching the ball more often. Not to mention De Gea has awful passing capabilities.
