It's interesting how different regions of the country cook. My people are from Louisiana and Texas....but have been in the South since before the Revolutionary War. We soak our beans overnight, then pick through them and rinse them before we ever put them on the stove. We are generally one-type-of-bean-at-a-time people...not a blend...and usually those beans are pinto beans or black-eyed peas. I can't say that we ever make a bean "soup", per se, although I DO have some of these in my food storage...which is why I watched your video...for ideas on how to cook them. I found I was able to get 2.5 bags into one half-gallon jar with the seasoning packets on top. I'm not sure about your Walmart, but the Cajun seanoning beans were at least 20 cents a bag cheaper than the ham flavored ones...so those are the ones I got. I might even throw some rice into mine when they get closer to done. Oh, and it's just me, so I will likely cook half a bag at a time...maybe a cup of dried beans...in my small crockpot. Anyway, thanks for the ideas! Looks good!
I am making this soup right now. I love this soup. I didn't have the 15 beans packet, but I have about 7 different beans and peas etc.. 2 hammocks chili spice and Tagine spice. It smells so good in my kitchen. I have to add some tomatoes. Thank you so much for your recipe.
This is one of my favorite dishes in the Winter. Sometimes I'll add a can of butter beans to thicken it up. Got a question for you, most of the time my cornbread is crumbly. Have any suggestions to firm it up?
I agree with you. These beans are very good. I have made this soup several times. I add ham hauks. I want to try the Cajun beans next.

You’re welcome!
Have you ever made this soup with ground sausage? Like Jimmy dean? Thanks
I haven't but I bet it would be awesome!

You can add a little bit of flour and that may help firm it up some. Maybe around a quarter cup for every two cups of cornmeal.
