    Thank Dr. Tan. Yes, I respect your strong determination and have no regret when you joining the PAP. Spend lots of time contributing to society. Instead of complaining that we lose the job, why don't with a positive attitude and face the challenge to upgrade our skills to compete with foreign talents and make a better Singapore?

      @@TheMichelleChongChannel This interview is like a repeat of the recent "parliament debate". Asked about CECA, talk about other FTA in general.

    Michelle Chong is the only actress that can act another character convincingly like it was their real personality and mannerism from young.

    The problem is that the financial industry is a black hole that sucks in all talent due to its relatively good salaries. As a result we are experiencing a shortage of talented students who would want to study non finance related subjects in university, and to venture into a non finance field. That is the key issue, which many other countries are facing too.

    "Train the local people" with fake degrees?

    • @Alexander-et9jm
      @Alexander-et9jm 3 года назад +8

      Yeah even fake cert holders can "transfer skills to locals" it simply shows the educations of our tertiary institutes are such a failure...

    Minister, you’re a nice guy. But pls take a look into the unfair hiring . I’m in an industry (pharmaceuticals ) where some companies blatantly fill up roles with their kind but oust locals like us out of equal placement roles when many of us come with even more experience. Case in point , if it’s a role say as a general manager of Singapore , on what remits do we import an Indian who barely understand market to take on the role ? (And end up creating a mess out of it). Look into pharmaceuticals as an industry and you’d see the stark gaps. I’ve worked with many Indians in my line and I can attest to the general lack of competency which is why it frustrates locals .

      MP Chan also said that MOE set around 3,000 quota. This way, they can import 45k CECA every year to be IT and replace us in other jobs.

    I agree. But plug into metal recycling industry la. So many singaporeans try 3 day only all want to leave. Why cap recycling industry with s pass cap and wp cap.

    People talked about CECA, and he deflect to talk about FTAs and other unrelated issues. Reading from the same script during the Parliament debate. Disappointing.

    Tsl I really out of touch. The banking sector has many many FTs doing jobs Singaporeans can do. Please minister, these FTs are not really adding value, they come in at entry level to mid management ( avp, vp, svp, ED) level. I have lost out in jobs to them both interviews and promotions. Why are these people allowed to come in to do a job where most Singaporeans can do ? Minister ,ONLY YOUR GOVERNMENT can stop this. Give us Singaporeans a fighting chance, I beg you.

    In nut shells, Singaporean don't have the require skills. education and experience that Big Techs required. Our Uni Degrees are outdated and slow to adapt.... Fresh Graduates are lacking 4-5 years behind real time needs.

      People have been saying that HK can produce 8 times more IT Fresh Grads every year than the reckless MOE Ministers. Everything they do, sure make a bigger mess than before.

      Our syllabus, education system, structure need to revamp. The Indians in India are more advance than us. When it comes to cybersecurity, most locals and students are not arm with the skills and knowledge. SG education system fare just slightly better than 3rd world country
