Musetta has had the world at her feet for decades ever since the opera premiered in 1896.
Olga Kulchynska is perfect for the role: dazzling, gorgeous, so self-confident; just one furtive glance and one disarming smile suffice to bewitch us, forcing us all to hold our breath, in awe and admiration, hoping the waltz never ends. Stunning peformance.
I love at 5:00ish where Puccini starts to play the voices against each other. Beautiful.
I'm in love with everything about this production! And the bohemians actually being played by young people is a great plus as well
Merci Madame.
I must have watched this dozens of times, this performance by the divine Olga Kulchynska and the entire cast is, in a word: gorgeous.
i guess im asking the wrong place but does anyone know a tool to log back into an Instagram account..?
I was dumb forgot the account password. I would love any tips you can give me
@Simon Aaron Instablaster :)
Imposible no to instantly fall in love with Musetta.
le spectacle est oxtraordinaire
Beautiful melody. One the best.
What a fine production!
The moment Musetta starts to sing the aria, everyone turns to look at her, and the spotlight soon follows. She becomes the focal point of the entire stage. And credit to Benoit, who was about to eat right at that moment!
Also one can't help but notice that everyone in the scene stays in character: the diners at other tables, the waitstaff, the bartender-all with different facial expressions. Some are curious, some are enjoying the scene, and some have "Let's see where this scandal ends" written all over their faces!
When Mimi sings the accompaniment, Mrs. Buratto sings the high note with piano, while almost all the other sopranos would sing forte. Singing in piano seems the logical choice, considering it is Musseta who is at the center of the stage here.
At least for this part of the opera, I think this edition is the best I have ever seen. And the recording quality is excellent too!
Does anyone know where to see the whole opera?
Is there a CD for sale.
Beautiful voice and musicality , i'm glad i've discovered Olga!
I think this is one of the greatest performers I have seen sing this part.
yup- loverly! I love her commitment to character- her musicianship throughout the aria's moment-to-moment unfolding... her singing isn't all about the high "B" either- she approaches it in an integrated way and it doesn't simply pop out as a show off note... we need more opera singing like this...
I love this performance. Congratulations, Olga! It would be lovely to see you at the Royal Opera House some day 😀
Very well sung and acted ! Beautiful singer, someone to watch out for ! Brava !
Nowadays everybody in opera has to be a gorgeous sex symbol for success. Imagine stubby Caruso and stout Tettrazzini in these roles, or even fatso Pavarotti and bovine Sutherland, who got by on great voices alone.
The Lulu haircut is perfect.
what an opera company... they're spectacular!
Magnífica interpretação de Olga Kulchynska ... BRAVO
Beautiful, beautiful! Fantastic performance, Olga!
Bravo
Bravo, Olga !!! I can't wait to see/hear your beatiful performance today evening in Zurich !
This is my favourite performance of la boheme
Stunning production with Olga as Musetta in very fine voice! Excellent Marcello by Gabriel Bermúdez too!
Olga Kulchynska has just debuted her role as Musetta with the Met Opera in the fall of 2019. Thank God the Met brought her over from Europe, so that she will receive the accolades that she deserves.
I was fortunate enough to see her perform in November at the Met, and have been listening/watching this video on repeat everyday since. Absolutely gorgeous voice!!
I think God has more important things on his mind right now
Outstanding! Such a range, so lyrical. I admit to being quite a bit in love with your Musetta - most of the others I've seen don't have the emotional range, nor the presence to stand out among the cast without being clad in some flouncy red dress (the 'scarlet woman'?) like you wore in the Met version, and as others wear. You have an edge of warmth to your voice that is most agreeable, even when you are scolding.
For once, this scene is about actors singing, rather than the other way... your acting displays Musetta's provocation, anger, attempts at placation, and her playfulness fully, and your voice is appropriate to those actions.
Of course, there's the intimacy of this recording - close-ups, and the focus on other actors, but there's also the incidentals: The whole cafe doesn't stop and gaze at Musetta here. No, sailors carry on eating, nuns drift away, autograph seekers get pulled out by their hair, and an older lady pours red wine. Kudos to Jonathan Miller for his directing and for helping you 'pull the right face' and bring out the best in you. This looks to be made for a film or TV
I wonder what Puccini would have thought? He died in 1924 - about the era when this version is set, I think. Would he approve (and I wonder if he'd cringe, like I do, at the English National Opera's modern version 'Drive and Live')?
Oh , I do wish you had more info on your website - I can't find anything more about this version. You haven't even included it on there - you should do... this is a wondrous display of your voice and talent.
Such a beautiful voice
QUE HERMOSA MUSSETTA Y QUE GUAPO RODOLFO
Great Musetta. Wonderful performance.
Just fabulous! Superbly sung. A feast for opera lovers! Musically La Boheme is among the finest! Surprised to see 28 thumbsdowns! What do they find missing?
Jamshed Delvadavala, Mumbai.
Only for todays listener who have no clue about real opera singing. This here is BAD singing which needs amplification! You could see it at the beginnig on her back neck.
@@vitabella6481 Could also be for reasons of recording, a microphone is common there.
Thanks uploader, wonderful.
Ahhh! I wanted to watch this to the end of the act! Superbly staged!
Looking forward to see your future performances, love to see you as Desdemona

E la bellezza mia tutta ricerca in me
Ricerca in me
Da capo a pie'
Ed assaporo allor la bramosia
Sottil che da gl'occhi traspira
E dai palesi vezzi intender sa
Alle occulte beltà
Cosi l’effluvio del desio tutta m'aggira
Felice mi fa, felice me fa!
E tu che sai, che memori e ti struggi
Da me tanto rifuggi?
So ben
Le angoscie tue non le vuoi dir
Non le vuoi dir so ben
Ma ti senti morir!

BRAVA!!!!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
“Marcell’ un di’ l’amò” perfect impromptu
SUUUUPER !!!
Bermúdez sings pitifully.
Does anyone know where I can find this full performance of the opera? I don't mind if it's on DVD, BluRay or streaming but if this video exists, the whole thing must exist somewhere and I would very much like to see it.
wow!
Brava!!👏❤🖒
Ah, the opera critics! The some 27 thumbs-downers as of this date who have cast their vote so eloquently, so insightfully, and so miserably. It is always so easy to register with a thumbs-down mouse-click. It is not so easy to provide that commentary that would support their apparent dislikes. So, they did not like it. So, they click and leave. So the rest of us, basking in the warmth and sure knowledge of why we liked it as revealed in the comments below, must be left to wonder where this performance fails. We struggle in our lack of operatic disciplines to understand just where exactly things could have gone better. All of this, while the thumbs-downers, lurking somewhere in the shadows of the Internet, are probably casting further aspersions at other what we might think were brilliant performances. If only one of you would come forward and bless us with your deep and insightful knowledge and explain why a thumbs-down was appropriate. If only!
You honour them by thinking about them, by posting this comment you give them a consequence the do not deserve.
I didn't give the video a thumb down but ill tell you why id be tempted to. I like it when women, even those with high light voices, sing with chest voice on the bottom or something like a mix of chest voice. It sounds better to me. Also, there is a lot of straight tone or ungrounded singing in this clip. That being said, I truly enjoyed it for what it was. Lots of young beautiful singers fully acting out the roles and making the moment fun. That has value as well. I can see how opera traditionalists may not enjoy it as much. Also, in an opera like boheme, everyone has their one or two moments produced by dead singers that they want to re-live and nothing else touches.
amazing
Does the tape jump around 5:27?
Muito legal(Brasil)
❤❤❤
Meravigliosa!
Gosh this was great till the baritone came on at 7:25. What was that?

Ms Kulchynska is very convincing... Bermudez non as much - all those grimaces and they are not conducive to good singing.
Why all the squeaking and shouting. Is it really necessary.
Lei non interpreta Musetta: lei è Musetta!
I wish it didn't have those French subtitles. Any fool can understan what's going on.
Appartenenza.
Musetta sings beautifully, Marcello sings poorly
I still prefer Angela Gheorghiu rendition of this song .
I'm a dumpster diver. You have no idea how very often I will find food that people use as an ashtray. Vulgar.
