Bravissimi.
They were not only singers they were who they were singing..in lz traviata they are not even human they are so good !!! She is violetta, that is so amazing ....
I could just die they are so good. This sounds petty, but when Rodolfo offers Mimi his arm, many sopranos ignore the offer. Not only does this singer take his arm, but she offers a precious curtsy.
My goodness Yoland, you're on a roll! Bonanza! My missus is out shopping and she's gonna think I'm lying when I tell her I've a special surprise for her. Mil gracias, this is starting out the day on such a bright note. Have a good day my friend.
Yoland this is just fabulous! You keep surprising us with gems ! I like that little introduction in the beginning . Domingo is a honest , and poetic Rodolfo unlike in my opinion Pavarotti who swallowed the sun but lacks of emotion . Carreras nails it too btw. Geez he’s young here ! 31 I think. I would have paid a fortune to see him live in his prime if I was born earlier 😁 . This is the third video performance I’ve seem from him singing this iconic aria .One is in Madrid in 1986 , there’s this one but I think his best one is in Paris in 1977 alongside with TeKanawa . Absolutely divine there . Stratas is fantastic too of course . Anyway thanks again Yoland .
It was in 1970 and he’s 29. I think it’s not the 1970s it’s the year 1970. 😂 but yes, it’s a sooo happy to see this two singing and performing Bohème together!! Even though just Act one. 😊
I was visiting a friend in Milan and wandering round the town, I sat down in a little park and this song came wafting down from a nearby house, totally memorable moment.
Keith Joseph Michell (1 December 1926 - 20 November 2015) was an Australian actor who worked primarily in the United Kingdom, and was best known for his television and film portrayals of King Henry VIII. Michell died in Hampstead, London, eleven days before his 89th birthday.
@@matthewbbenton I don't fault him either, and it's hard to argue with the vocal results (he does indeed sound wonderful here). But somehow it makes the transition into "Mi chiamano Mimì" feel rather pedestrian in a musical sense. Normally the start of her aria is approached melodically by half-step (from his final E-flat to her E-natural), and their two arias are a tritone apart harmonically (A-flat and D major), a distance which helps distinguish their character (and characters). Also the color difference in moving from a flat key to a sharp key, which audibly affects the sound of the orchestra. But when moving instead simply from G major to D major, much of this effect is lost. A minor point, I suppose, but one can't help wondering how Puccini himself might have felt about this issue (despite his living in an era where the personal preferences of leading singers were, if anything, even more likely to be accommodated).
Hallo Yoland Kwok, Many thanks, I had meet Plácido in Hamburgo. He loved his Fans! There was Aunt Anna and he wearv her a Ring every time on his Finger sind. Hamburg!

Placido remains my favourite tenor, such emotion expressed through his wonderful voice, such a talent

This is a beautiful example of what opera can be.
Placido Domingo, orgullo de la Hispanidad!
Ever dependable Placido. Rock solid vocally and consummate acting.
Thank you verz much for this jewel Domingo and Stratas breathtaking singing and acting goosebump all the time
So young to be simply beautiful !
When Stratas showed up, she could be magical. Heard/saw her a few times at the Met and in "Rags" on Broadway.
Sublime distribution, quels chanteurs !

Wow! How wonderful it would have been to see such a performance! Thank you for posting this! ❤
He and Teresa Stratas. My favourite couple: I fell in love with them with Zeffirelli 's movie "La Traviata"
They were not only singers they were who they were singing..in lz traviata they are not even human they are so good !!! She is violetta, that is so amazing ....
You should see them in "No, Pagliaccio non so." Scary but oh so gratifying.

Listen to them sing No Pagliaccio Non So. It will break your heart.
Many thanks Yoland‼️‼️
Wonderful surprise. I’m very amazed ‼️👍🏻👏🏻

The best, most convincing
Mimi I've ever seen; Stratas is fantastic;Domingo also; great pairing!
Along with the first act from La Traviata this is always wonderful!

An excellent singer too.
Domingo´s high C is perfect as is everything else here. Wonderful.
It was a high B - not that I fault him for transposing.
B natural
You can even find performances by Franco Corelli where he transposed the aria down.
@@robertmanno5749 Many tenors do.

I never saw Rodolfo blow out his candle before. What a schemer.
😂😉😉
If that was from the BBC in 1970, that was 53 years ago! Placido was 29 years old.
Guapísimo era, todo un hombrezote.
Insanely in love...as God is my witness. The only man I want...or ever really wanted
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏👏👏👏🌹

Oy vey, said Rodolfo.
