- Forget Celtic & Rangers, I went to see a football team in Scotland who could get relegated to the bottom tier. This video shows non league football at its best as I watched Kello Rovers v Glasgow United.
Stay to the end of the video to check out my bottom tier playlist!
#football #soccer #uk
how can this level of football not be funded by the Scottish FA, surely it makes sense for teams to be affiliated to bigger clubs at these levels how to clubs manage to pay wages left alone fuel and line marking. the club chairman was awesome as the linesman never moved from the same spot and the ref asking supporters to move from behind the goal was hilarious.
I've seen matches held up for a variety of reasons but never kids with a drum!
Heartbreaking to see clubs struggling, they mean so much to the community too….surely all top league clubs could help them out
Sadly it is the same tale for many clubs. Amazing how some survive
i have been watching your posts for a while now and really enjoy them, it has now moved me to want to help out clubs like this, it would only be about 100 a month but i think that will help them out alot so thank you for doing what you are doing
That scenery at the end of the video is what makes scotland so beautiful 🏴 canny beat it, the drives up to the highlands for example are absolutely stunning
Totally agree. We filmed our game at Hepworth United and we thought that was stunning, but it is nothing on the landscapes shown in this film
Big well done to the guys at kello keeping the club going it must be horrendous to try and keep the club afloat in this day and age. A remember they were one of the biggest and best clubs in the juniors in the 70s a mean one of the best. I’m a Talbot man and our fortunes turned when we signed the legends hugh mcclean and cammy hitchell from kello they turned Talbot on its head so I will always have time for kello rovers. Good luck lads it’s a great job yous are doing keeping a great club going
The referee's decision made me laugh about not letting "The Ultras" behind the goals. Went with our school and had half a dozen fans threatening me with a knife and when I did need them moved the ref was as scared as me to go near them.
Why the heck would anyone accept football "fans" screaming abuse at opposing players and officials? Why would anyone in their right mind bring a knie to a football game? And why on earth would players and staff argue with match officials? No decency, no manners and no respect for authority -- it's killing society.
Always bittersweet to see this. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL FOOTBALL TEAM.
Fair play Sam, you support the Grassroots game in Scotland better than the SFA do.
I can't with those kid's screaming 'fuck' beside you at every part of the match 😂😂
Campbeltown Pupils is a must for your bottom tier channel! 6 or 7 hour round trip but the most remote WOSL team by far
Yip was there a couple of weeks ago,now that is a journey you need to make
Another great video! A good luck charm indeed, but you'll notice you also have to buy a pie for it to work, at least that is what I'd tell myself! As for no cafes, you need to find a Scottish Aunt in these small villages. noone ever leaves a Scottish relative's house without a good feed!
Some of the shots of the landscapes on the way to the ground are stunning. Our film for our game at Hepworth United has some great landscapes but nothing on this! Great video
No fans behind the goal? Never heard of that before
The wee boys were shouting hurty words at the ref. Must have hit a nerve 😂😂
I played for the youth team 25 years ago. The ground hasn't changed but the main problem is attracting players.
Worth checking out Nithsdale Wanderers in the next town Sanquhar.
He did but it was away to East Kilbride who won 10-0 😂
The banter is worth the price of admission alone :)
Videos like this are why you are the best football RUclipsr.
THANK GOD you have subtitles .As a Greek i cant understand what Scotts you are saying 😂❤
Hes English haha
I guess it’s all greek to you. Oh.. wait.
Always the highlight of the week . Brilliant stuff .
Saaaaammmm!!!!!! If I had known you were going to be in Kirkconnel yesterday I would have come over and met you. Nithside Park is less than a mile from my house. Delighted to see you giving my home team some coverage, despite the fact their form has been absolutely dire this season. Fantastic to see them getting a win at last this season though.
BTW Kirkconnel being a mining village has always had more affinity with the west of Scotland than with the more agriculturally oriented towns and villages in the rest of Dumfriesshire.
You showed why every match matters. Promotion and relegation add so much to the lower league games, even at this point of the season. You never know if a hard earned win or well fought draw will be the difference between surviving or falling down the league pyramid.
What kind of pie is that ?
“Plain” 😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for sending me the link for the video of Middlesbrough football club as as I am a season ticket holder sense, December 2016 I realise that you caught a match against Middlesbrough vs Reading and the manager was Chris Wilder, but he was sacked in November 2022 and now the new manager is Michael Carrick the club is much more in a better state now the manager we have now he got us to the championship semi-final play-off place but the second game of Coventry we lost 1-0 in in the last minute of stoppage time in the second half
Great video, you’ve got to admire supporters of that level of football.
Love it. Keep up the great work and enjoy your travels as a good luck charm.
Crackin' video Sam, fair doos.
All levels below lowland and Highland league should be summer football. Give the grassroots game a chance
People go away on their holidays that time of year though.
@@itellyouwhy6957 and…. People go away on holidays in winter… that’s such a shite excuse. Sorry but it is.
Maybe those that can afford to holiday every year should realise it’s not all about them and their comfortable lifestyle….
Literally of top of my head a list of reasons….
•Grass pitches would actually grow in summer, thus recover unlike winter.
•Lighter nights
•Warmer weather
•Better weather + better pitches = better standards
•More people would watch (maybe even play)
•Would help smaller clubs with costs
•Less games get abandoned/rescheduled
•Less injuries, as better pitch conditions and less games on really poor astro pitches.
@@itellyouwhy6957 btw not meaning to come across arsey there. Just passionate about fitba 😂😂
Another Great Video.I was a referee doing those games for many years and loved it.
i'm 90% sure Kello were the early league leaders of the third division last season so if they were than that's been some collapse
Aye you're right, they won their first 6 league games, sadly seemed to drop the ball after that and had a poor run to the end of the season and finished 8th. That win yesterday was long overdue, last league win was on May 3rd, maybe 15 games back. Fingers crossed for a few more league wins to get them up the table and out of the bottom 3.
What's that app you use?
Rather bizarre from the ref, telling them to not stand behind the goal. Of all the non-league games I've been to (though all in England) no official has ever told fans to not be behind the goal.
Real football. The heart and soul.💙
Looks like a decent setup at Kelso.
You’re the good luck charm that under pressure teams need!
Good luck charm with that first win.
First few minutes had me laughing at how bleak you’ve made it seem - it’s quiet but it’s a great wee place.
Closed the cafe on Google (I'm a guide). Love these videos of lower-leagues. Keep up the ace work.
Beautiful folk song called Helen of kirkconnell
Went to Dunbar on Saturday and enjoyed my trip over the border, Newcastle blue star who I follow are in the lowest English tier and hopefully on the rise with a average of around 270 going
A twenty pounds non league challenge would be good 😊
And nice video 😮
They 2 wee laddies sayin their park wiz guid anaw....its Shettleston Rover wi a diffrint name 😂😂😂
I love non league football. Everyone knows everyone. It's great for people who don't get out other going to watch their team. They get to enjoy a match talk to their mates for a couple of hours.
Sam the thumbnails you do can be a bit negative for the club and saying your putting them in the bottom tier section of your videos is disrespectful as there still fighting to stay in that league ,other than thay great videos mate keep it up
All three goals caught on film? Who are you and what have you done with Sam North? 😂
Haha I know! Not like me at all!!!
Kirkconnel and Sanquhar are to me what Yoker is to Limmy’s Dee Dee. Fabled places you’d hear of on Border TV but never go to.
I pledge now to go and see them.
I live in Kirkconnel mate. Wonderful countryside, but apart from that, the Rovers is about all we have these days.
Wtaf
Asking fans to move from behind the goal 😂😂😂.
what gets me is the amount of grounds that are cages with no stands which are allowed in the leagues...SFA are a joke
Sam keeping it real,,brill.
Come to Witton Albion mate. Next Sat.
Come Annan athletic vs Kelty on Saturday both clubs have got ultras and u ain’t done a Kelty vlg in a while
how much to invest in the club i may know people that may help ?
Please go to McDiarmid Park. We NEED the points!
Hello u should got to a nithsdale wanderers home game in sanquhar
Sending off the "crowd"? He should have been at Dunbar yesterday where there was a match long standoff behind a goal of two rival groups of primary school boys.
Should go to Bellshill
That ref will go far… clearly a clown.
The lino must be fkn shattered 😂
If only you knew how much the chairman did for the club.😉
Except Hibs mate.
YOU'VE TURNED THE WEE ANS AGAINST HIM
Love it...❤
There's nothing more honest in British football than the lower Scottish leagues. Nae faff. Just fitba.
Mon the jags
HI Here in Australia the rule is in the junior leagues is that where there is no stand nobody should be allowed behind the goals. The reason is health and safety if a person got hit by a ball and or the goal keeper is hurt by a bottle being thrown it would obviously be an issue.
It's really incase a kangaroo kicks you and steals the ba'
Aye because we all know the only place you can throw a bottle from is behind the goals.🤣
I was there
I want your Job Sam!
Top man
❤
tranmere
❤a
Fast for 2 days bro..thts starving 😩
Everytime I see such a beautiful landscape, everytime I hear a heavy Scottish accent, everytime I see an old ground like this one...
I know that I truly love Scotland! 💙🏴💙
Greetings from Germany 🍻
Veilan Dank 👍🏴 🇩🇪 hope to rejoin you in the EU
Excellent result , away keeper obviously cant take banter from a young supporter and thought the young lass was running over to you with some more banter !!!!
Refs a w**ker 😂
Crazy with the refs decision. Never ever seen that before
Great vid Sam. Reminded me of the level of football I played as a not so young man ( North Lancs League). Dumfries & Galloway, beautiful. The Ref had clearly ordered the linesmen to stay on the half way line. Telling the young boys to move from behind the goal was hilarious. I assume they were saying cruel things to the keeper. If he ever refs at Anfield he is gonna have a problem. Though to be fair, The Kop is generally kind to oppo keepers. Though I do remember the Kop giving Peter Shilton a hard to time. He has been photographed with a young lady who was not his wife. The lady in question was called Tina , so the Kop chanted her name periodically throughout the match. Then they tossed an inflatable sex doll around the Kop and chanted Tina some more. Shilton didn't seem bothered. Liverpool won, so job done.
Yasssss, that goalie for Glasgow united was a fanny
Morning Sam, if you get a chance, Johnstone Burgh please.👍👍
Mon the rovers!
Was that a roll and sausage, or just a roll? no offense, but looks like a hamburger bun (I've been trying to get sausage egg & cheese on hamburger bun instead of what we call a biscuit with no success.
Should went to thronhill sam good Bakery good breakfast there and coffee
Non league is where football is now. Can't beat a linesman legally cheering a goal 😂
What a beautiful part of the world
Fantastic stuff ! As usual !
They sound like theyre from glesga 😂💪
We say Ken down here. The accents are different but the mining towns are closer to a Glasgow accent 😂
Sam I will say it again......Fucking amazing work what you do for our game from top yo bottom.
Cheers Wardie!
How come this lower league is not certified by the Scottish FA,good friends!!!I just could not believe this but the match was awesome from both of my favourite respective teams ever and long live Scottish Non League Football, good friends!!!🙏
That interview with the chairman is pure gold. No better illustration of why people should watch their local team (or at least a different non-league team every week for me). Use it or lose it.
Great one Sam. Have to take my hat off to people who keep these teams going. Such dedication.
Some great scenery and loved the vid. Had to laugh at the ref.
I enjoyed that Sam, great job again ...
