    Awesome work, superb job by this trainer in demonstrating how to set up your snow chains, thank you!!!

    Have to give them props for trying - but showing the duals like this isn't reality. Show us with the trailer hooked up (hint - if installing triples, I usually dolly down, unhook, and pull ahead about 6 feet - makes it much much much easier to get at the inner and centre hooks). I used to be an oilfield driver in Canada before I got into highway driving and chaining up is routine in the oilpatch.

    Can’t wait to watch a Swift driver chain up on the Highway Thru Hell ( hiway 5 Choquihala in British Columbia) after learning from this video.
    I’ll have my coffee and popcorn ready.

    Somebody show us how it's really done please. First off, can't find a safe place to pull all the way off the road. Snowing hard with 6 inches of the white death on the ground. Crawling underneath to hook the chains together, and tighten them, while you've got ice cold water dripping on you from underneath the trailer. Can you show me the quick and easy way to do that please? That's what I really want to know.

  • @burnerdown2
    @burnerdown2 3 года назад +3

    To save time on single chains get a 4 inch square piece wood 12 inches long. Put wood on inside drive tire, back up truck so inside tire goes up on the wood leaving outside tire 4 inches off the ground. Can now put single chain on nice and tight...and quick..no mess...if you use 2 pieces of wood can do both sides at once :)

    I always loosely, temporarily hook the outside chain first so the entire chain cannot slip over the tire while I'm working on the inside hooks. Can be a real pain when the chain slips between the wheels or onto the axle. Learned from experience. Also, good to have heavy-duty insulated rubber gloves as the leather gloves get soaked and very cold. Best regards, Jon

      Do yourself a favour and look at some of the other videos on here or better yet get someone with lots of experience to train you.
      Take the advice from a driver that has driven the Highway Thru Hell (Hwy 5 British Columbia) a lot years That is not how to chain up. I would never do it like that.

    You were almost right on this. Except turning the cams. You never tighten cams without rolling ahead. You roll ahead about 3 to 4 rotations then on the hooks or boomers you retighten the tails again then turn the cans. Your way your will have broken cross links and other drivers getting flat tires.

    U r first mistake was folding the chains when u picked em up off the ground , grab the middle chain & pick them up that way , & u don't drive forward when u r installing chains , u back over the chains , cause if u ever spin out & have to chain up on a hill , u r not gonna b driving forward to install chains , u r gonna b backing up to install them

    Yeah, pick those chains up to your chin, because there's no trailer to worry about in this lousy presentation, ha ha... It's better to pick them up about elbow high, remember, you'll be hooked to a trailer out there, you don't want them chin high
    Not as easy as it looks. There's no trailer. Teach this with an actual trailer while working with the drives
    It's so easy when you have no obstructions. Not to mention the miserable conditions while on the road. This is terrible. When on the road and working under a trailer is very easy to throw the other half of the triple rail chain in between the tires and need to explain that.
    What's a dummy Hook..where??
    Nice camera work.
    What's the bungee chord for??
    ..no explanation...
