Have you unlocked the transportation lizards so you can chase down while doing things?

I believe so, I got the medal for it recently (randomly during a hunt) for using it a ton which I'm not sure why because I'm pretty sure I used it once when the game made me and then ignored that mechanic completely ever since. So it just autopaths you to the monster or something?

@@TomScottDoesStuff Correct. And while riding it, you can sharpen and use items. It's the precursor to the palamute.
It'll autopath to whatever you have targeted on the map, including gathering points (but only paths it can access, so unclimbable drops or swings are not accessible)

Hmm. To be honest there's too much item bloat in my hotbar so I pretty much just ignore half of it. Riding monsters, mantles, camera, bug net so much random junk. There's even options to have my palico spawn even more vigorwasps lol. In general I don't mind running after a monster as that's part of the game, just this jungle I still have a rough time navigating the more vertical areas.
But good to know, I might give it a try if I get fed up at some point 😅
