I tie mine with a single piece of marabou. Tie in the tail, wrap the body and then the eyes. The trick is to continue up after wrapping the body and then flip the remaining father over the eye like a Clouser or Kreelex.
Superb again davie one of my favourite flys and very good for wild brownies aswell a lot of people don't use them for them a red holographic tinsel down the back has been deadly for me
I've always wanted to ask why hooks have downward bent eyes. I know you can get them with straight eyes, and upward turned eyes, but the majority seem to be slightly down. What is the purpose of this?
Morning Ruth, The small chain bead eyes are ideal for this size of fly so I would certainly tye a few up using the chain beads, I got a hold of the metallic red ones from my local hardware store B&Q a while back and they are perfect..I'm glad you liked the pattern.. All the very best Davie
Hi Keith, I love to fish the damsel nymph along the banks especially when they are coming off so I normally fish it with a floating line though in the deeper water a sink tip to intermediate line is good as well.. All the very best Davie
Hi Bert, I have attached a link to the damsel eye's I used, I'm sorry you couldn't see them well.. All the very best Davie www.fishersdirect.com/veniard-damsel-eyes-4395-p.asp
