Wow. Really nice tying of one of my favourite stillwater flies. Great video , I'm glad I came across your channel after all this time. Hope they keep coming. 👍
I spent a day perfecting braided tails years ago and they looked magnificent in the box. The problem is that the braiding restricts the tail movement to almost zero. A damsel swims with its entire body and you're better off using a plain marabou tail on a short shaft hook.
I can definitely see what you mean and you're right about how they swim. They don't seem to care too much as this is definitely one of my most productive still water flies
May I suggest to use a stonfo dubbinghair clip together with the hair compactor to cut and Aline the feathers? I love this pattern by the way I bought it in Denmark last year never seen it before that. Thanx to you and BK flytying I know how to make the tail.
Tail's not right for a damsel nymph. There are a few tail choices but this won't look like any of them when it's wet. I do like the braided body though. If you'd like to shave off a lot of time, instead of messing around with that wire, just dip the end you want held together into head cement. I guess I'd clip & glue a doz at a time and be done with it.
Great fly pattern (from down under) - if you want movement in the tail section just make sure you don't have the braid too tight or too thick.
Gary, can make those eyes in seconds, great fly, nice tying, regards from Wales.
Much appreciated!

Very cool. Looks deadly, starting one now.
Классная личинка , благодарю за вариант!👍🤝🇰🇿

Awesome!
Carp would love this fly, but I will put the bead chain on top of the hook.
That'll be a good call. It'll make the fly ride upside down but you can get it down on the bottom better with the hook up
very good
Interesting 😎 fly
