Deep well heating is the "hello, I raise the temperature with no MC" card everyone always forget about and is decent at grabbing an early temperature step bonus combined with your 8 first heats, so I'm not that surprised to see it more often than not. It doesn't excel at any particular job, but it has enough use cases where it is decent, a bit like noctis farming.
That leaves you open to get tapped If that happens you paid 16 for a temp step, I would not recommend using it like that. if you can follow it up with something that uses the power its fine but then there are probably better ways to get energy prod. It's very niche and not great early.
I have to say Pets increase in value the more players are in the game (especially 4-5), but I see the point in investing into points too early. It's simply designed like that, it breaks even at three points I think. As for two-player games, I agree it falls off hard and it's highly situational (e.g. Tharsis in game or not). Definitely an interesting card. As for others, most of them are highly niche as you accurately described, with Underground Detonations not even worth mentioning haha, that card needs a buff / an errata so badly.

Release of Inert Gases is useful in the Solo Game
I don't play solo much so my lists usually refer to 2p or 3p. Even in the solo game though, there are cheaper ways to get 2TR.

Lol yeah I agree about underground dets. It should be good in at least one situation.
Equatorial magnetizer can be a good option for Factorum actually.
Yeah maybe, but its still overused on steam XD.
I hardly play Equatorial Magnetizer and Soletta. Normally they are weak cards.
Yeah most people like Soletta in their opening hand. I feel it only works in a few scenarios

only very early if you have many other things, it's one of the biggest trap cards out there
