  • (10) John Otway, now in his 70’s (Really Free ‘77) - great show and chat after - lovely fella, thanks Ade ❤️ (and bumped into him in a pub in London a fortnight later, chatted again 😂).
    (9) the legend of the list; Nile Roger’s & Chic, supported by Soul II Soul, outside with friends in Lord Romsey’s garden on a beautiful summer’s eve, special👌
    (8) the totally bonkers Elvana, 3000+ random people in the Roundhouse, singing along to Elvis & Nirvana songs, unforgettable!
    (7) English Teacher - great new band from Leeds - one to watch out for I think.
    (6) Viagra Boys (again) - the best mosh of the year at the brilliant @wideawakeldn festival in Brockwell Park with my old bestie Perc (also saw Warmduscher, The Bug Club, Los Bitchos, Osees and discovered MadMadMad & O.).
    (5) Dead Kennedys again, with Tim this time and in our home town that managed to rustle up 800 old punks for the sing along 👍
    (4) finally got to see Slaves - now Soft Play, in the Electric Brixton - another grand old London venue.
    (3) it was so great to see Baxter Dury in Paris in the Autumn with wifey, 38 years after I saw his father Ian play at Glastonbury ’85. The French went mad for his cockney swearing!
    (2) Hak Baker is a total dude and put on a brilliant show, the longest set of the year, in KOKO in Camden Town - another great old London theatre, new to me.
    (1) my fave gig of the year… Bilk, a young bunch of lads from Essex, who ain’t gonna take the world by storm but it just worked in a packed (320 capacity) fantastic venue @omearalondon with a lot of youthful enthusiasm. Oh to be 20 again, bloody loved it 🎸.
But, the actual best show of the year, by bloody miles, was not live music as such so not mentioned, and no vids allowed so not featured, it’s…. ABBA Voyage. Absolutely incredible, go see in 2024.
