- Dark Souls III is an action role-playing game set in a third-person perspective. According to director Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game's gameplay design "follows closely from Dark Souls II". Players are equipped with a variety of weapons including shortbows, explosives like fire bombs, greatswords and dual-wielding swords to fight against enemies, and shields that can be used to deflect an enemies' attack and protect the player from suffering damage. In addition, attacks can be evaded through dodge-rolling. Bonfires, which serve as checkpoints, also return from previous installments.
Ashes, according to Miyazaki, will play an important role in the game. Magic is also featured in the game. Each attack has two different styles. One of them is standard attack, while another provides power-ups to players, and is slightly more powerful. When performing miracles and spells, the players' magic points are consumed and decreased. In order to refilled these points, they need to consume Ash Estus Flask. There are two different Estus Flasks in the game. One of them can help refill magic points, while another refill hit points. Combat and movements were made faster and more fluid in Dark Souls III. Several players' movements, such as backstepping and swinging heavy weapons, can be performed more rapidly, allowing players to deal more damage in a short period of time.
Throughout the game, players encounter different types of enemies, each with different behaviors. Some of them change their combat pattern during battles. New combat features are introduced in Dark Souls III, including "Ready Stance", which are special abilities for players that allow them to deal much more damage to enemies than ordinary attacks are capable of. Small gravestones are also introduced. These gravestones light up when interacted with and not only serve as players' torches, but also provide additional lore to the game.
The game puts more focus on role-playing, in which the character builder is expanded and weapons are improved to provide more tactical options to players. The game features fewer maps than its predecessor Dark Souls II, but levels were interconnected and were made larger, which encourages exploration. The agility stat from Dark Souls II was removed from Dark Souls III. The game also features multiplayer elements, like the previous games in the series.

I started following cowboy last year when my friends and I bought and downloaded ds2 scholar of the first sin on sale. I watched a TON of his content on that. Now I find myself playing ds3 and I even picked up ds(1) remastered. FightingCowboy has made me love and hate this series. I've had the best of times, and the worst of times, but it's all in the name of my dark souls experience.

Right around 52:00 when Cowboy mentions “it would be like somebody trying to reboot Cowboy Bebop” cracked me up because just today it was announced that Netflix has canceled the show a couple weeks after it aired. Cowboy is apparently a prophet.
For anyone watching that is new to the game, there is a luck scaling weapon. Anri's straight sword scales with luck and also has a healing effect while equipped. It's basically the astora straight sword with luck scaling.
I've never seen the starting soon screen. That's hilarious!

i think my favourite part of this section of the game is realising how realistic weaknesses are. like the undead in the cages in the undead settlement. slashing them wont do much because they are caged but stabbing is often an insta kill!

crazy watching this knowing people back then had no idea elden ring was coming. the bosses got ramped up in this one compared to first 2 and some bosses were on par with elden bosses.
Damn, you really see the difference in frame per second on the Xbox One. I never thought it would be so apparent.
I was playing ds 1 with dsfix and set my framerate to 65, and it started glitching and it got locked to 60 fps for some reason, and I felt that difference. just losing 5 frames made me feel a huge difference.

Well, The Nameless King isn't said to be his son, but the signs are there. He is with a dragon, name wiped from history.
+XBrossive Aggro The nameless king is the heir of lightning, as read in his souls when transposing his boss soul weapon. And that makes him Gwyn's firstborn.
dragonsalyer armor isnt ornsteins armour, you probably know by now but its my fave bit of lore how ornstein became the stormdrake that nameless king rides and you find ornsteins original armour after that fight.

I fucking HATE the spear Lothric Knights. They suck so much. Always hold the shield up, attack and attack and attack without ever dropping it, try to roll, get shield bashed, try to back up, get stabbed with the stupid range of the spear, try to parry and always miss cause the timing is weird on that weapon. I fucking hate the spear weilders they piss me off so much. I hate how whenever you roll to avoid damage you get fucking shield bashed, and the shield bash just completely drains your stamina if you get while the shield is up
in bloodborne int and faith were taken up by bloodborne and arcane, bloodline was your gun strength, and arcane was your hunters tool strength

I'm so torn between a dex build and the knight one. This one looks like a lot of fun but the knight looks like it'll be a lot easier to complete the game with the first time around
+jacob ruddock I would go Knight for my first run (I'm personally going dex/strength) just to make it as simple as possible so that I could enjoy the game and see the sights, you know? But, that's just my opinion. The dex build does look like a lot of fun. :D

The knight class is good for beginners. Strength build is recommended for new players in the series and want to take it casually.

If you use golden age as a reference the lost children anime will still contain alot of the gore.
You should probably make your notes a lot more extensive. Such as at 2:09:30 you should have written "npc with cage on back that you press x to enter cage and cutscene" instead of only "[.../] and npc cage"

Cowboy, I know this video is a bit old so I'm not sure if you'll see this but I'm thinking of working on two characters at once, and I honestly think I'm going to follow an almost identical path of this dex character for my second. One of the things I'm confused on though (and hopefully if I watch farther this isn't answered, otherwise I'll be king of the idiots and I apologize) but why are you wearing the Master's set when the starter set you get is better?

it is 5 iv played through the game multiple times, u get 3 on pickup each playthrough you gotta pvp to get the other ones though
You can get the respec items from dark wraiths as a very rare drop. No need for PvP if you don't want.
