Hi there, liked your video. Need your help to understand how do you focus on humans and things with R5? I am not able to understand if I use eye autofocus, changing quickly on things is a issue so wondering how people use focus options with R5 especially with low aperture One option I can think of to use high aperture and everything is in focus but it will not look good and will call for high ISO in low light situation. Alternatively I can think of using manual focus but it will be cumbersome. Appreciate if you can share focusing technique for things and human faces
So I try to stay at a pretty low aperture. Typically shooting anywhere from 1.4 to 3.5 and if you go into the focus settings. Lower the speeds and tracking. It’s not a fix-all but definitely will help you out in the constant bouncing. Also, if you set a “hot key” on the camera for movie servo off/on helps during ceremonies and speeches. (Or switch to manual focus)
Great job, the way light is handled gives amazing results, surprised by the ipb on the R5! Since you shot with only two cams (R5 and R), i’m wondering how you managed the matching of both 8bits and 10bits in postprod? Did you also have to shoot in 1080p on the eosR (in such case how did you match both cams there again) or did you dealt with its cropped 4k instead? Also i can see 3 different shooting angles on the vow part: did you add a third cam just for that, or did you simply run in time on the other side with the R5? Thank you for your work and extra infos!
Thank you so much! To start, I used one R5, and two R’s for the whole day. (4K cropped, mostly 24p) the coloring was a little tricky, but they honestly surprise me with how they pair as a b and c cam. For the ceremony I set my eos R’s on a tripod for both bride and groom angle. Then float with the r5 and use as the center aisle angle!
@@wigginsfilmco.1047 Waouu interesting, i initially thought the center angle of the aisle was with the R while the sides was with the R5! So you also did good job regarding colors. I also like the overall rythm of the video, i can imagine you avoided the R5 overheating that way but it’s good to see 24p footage for weddings anyway, as there’s just too much 60p in mostly every videos available these days.
Thank you! I was using a tascam dr-10l on groom (the one on the officiant failed). And a tascam dr-40x for the speeches plugged into an out on one of the speakers from the band.
That's a great way to be reliable , i am using Rode Go ii but it failed once in a wedding and without back up it was the worst thing since i use R5 and i learned to always have a back up. by the way i like your video i like the color grading also. good job
@@johnsonmediaprod3239 thank you I really appreciate that! And yes, love the rode go ii now as well, I use it for first looks mainly but use it during the ceremony as a back up now and to make it super easy and clear to synch in post for ceremony and speeches!
I’ve ultimately now come to only using manual focus, in this video I did use auto but in time I have had more focus racking from autofocus and just committed to manual. No matter the internal settings for focus speed and what not
@@wigginsfilmco.1047 man I was hoping to hear better news lol…yeah I started in photography but recently started wedding videography and have done 3 weddings this month and I am starting to see the short falls of this camera…thinking of switching to Sony for video…I could do manual also but really want to do push in shots or pull out shots, stuff where manual isn’t really feasible
Wow! This is the first wedding video I watched (with interest) from start to finish. Awesome! Great pacing, editing, music, framing, grading/haze. Aptly and tastefully inserted b-roll and nice audio. Too bad about the focus on the bride/groom during the brothers speech though. Also, holy hecking heck that misty drone shot during the intro. Beautiful! I need a tissue! 🥲 I checked the equipment list. Didn't see a Atomos Ninja Did you shoot all of this internally? Which 4k profile/settings did you use? Two big thumbs up, great work! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
@@TimothyGordon thank you so much!!! And no mist filter used! I added a Gaussian blur and the luma key in post to to help them roll off, completely adjustable to taste, not baked in to the footage and no need for the extra $$$ spent on filters!
Thank you so much! And no I actually just added it in post with Gaussian blur and the luma keyer! Very simple and easy to do without baking it into the image!
I’ve only used it several times, never on a really hot day. But never had a warning signal pop when I did. Amazing camera, just went with the r6 to buy 3 of them!
@@wigginsfilmco.1047 I loved your film I struggle so much with grading I want to get iMac just for the grade...I generally work with r5 I can't jump to mac not yet still stuck on pc's
@@Lillesandfotografen it’s very easy! There’s so many tutorials out on here now, but essentially it’s just add a duplicate clip above the original, and add a luma keyer and Gaussian blur and adjust to taste!
Congratulations for this video!!
Great work! The drone shot with the fog is so good!
Question! Did your camera gets overheats during session?
One of the better wedding videos i have seen. Excellent work. 👍
beautiful!!
Nice - liked it - you kept the clips steady - no unnecessarily panning or gimbal shots.
Is there a Pro Mist filter on the lens or it is postproc?
Beautiful work 😍😍
Thank you so much!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Great work! What color profile were you shooting in? Or was this shot in C-Log?
C-log! Sharpness +1, contrast 0!
Wow ❤️❤️ Great work. You shot it in 4K or 1080P ? Thanks

well done!!
Superb!! Did you face any overheating during the wedding day?
Since October I’ve never had any overheating! As long as you aren’t recording a ceremony at 60fps you should never have any issues!
Great audio on this video , what the audio gear used ?

Have you had any autofocus issues using this for videography? I noticed movement toward or away from subjects causes focus issues
