I used to watch a few years back and not sure why I stopped but saw this video pop up and absolutely love the change of pace from the rest of RUclips. The fact that you put the part of you buying the car at the end into this same video whereas I feel like most would have dragged that into two different videos to make more content. Keep this story telling alive as it really is such a reminder to what great vlogging is and should be.
Hey Louis, am 55 now, I bought my first vehicle at 23 and guess what? It was a 1978 beetle. I had it for 7 years. Recently I saw one junked somewhere and I want to buy it and do an electric conversion. Needless to say I will watch and take notes so am waiting for that convertion.
I'm a bug guy...had 9. You have probably done this but any time you buy one, lift the back seat and check under the battery. This is a location notoriously known for rusting through. Under pan spray usually is a trick done to hide cancer. Love the color. Glad you got with such a legend to experience such wonderful cars. Congrats on the baby.
Hi Louis, it was a pleasure to meet and spend time with you and Steve have you both sit your hybrid and electric vehicle training here at NPTC Newtown. Congratulations on your new arrival, including the electric beetle 😅. If you have got the time and you are in the area, please pop in to sit your level 3 and 4 qualification. Good luck with the EV conversation and please keep in touch 👍.
@@Louis no problem, I absolutely love delivering electric and hybrid vehicle training. You are one of only a few that achieved 100% in the exam and Steve's result was awesome given his limited electric vehicle background. Thank you again for featuring and supporting our training, please keep in touch and pop in when you can.
For the VBug I think you should find a way to set up a digital hidef instrument panel that can provide android or apple carplay along with the usual system monitoring features. As a bonus you could then perhaps add a back up camera setup. Looks like it's going to be an awesome EV.
My first car and dream car as a teenager was a convertible vw....I got her and she was closer to that same color of blue. Absolutely so much fun! I love the smell of a vw bug. There is actually a google search on that info. I love the cricket noise they make too. ❤️✌🏻
Congratulations on the new arrival! Welcome to parenthood! I followed your adventure cross country with the VW Van, and I thought you had disappeared after that. So glad to see you back on RUclips. Can't wait to see your video series on the VW Bug conversion! Welcome back!
I don’t know the first thing about vehicle conversions or modifications etc but I enjoyed this footage and I was just wondering out of curiosity 1. Do you have to declare to the DVLA that you are modifying a car and 2. What’s it do to your insurance policy? What type of policy do you have to have?
found you last year and was on the edge of my seat with the christmas extravaganza !! all the car channels i follow just seem to be having crossovers with each other and here you are with moggy another crossover i wouldnt have drempt of.looking forward to this, hope you have heaters this time :D
I wonder if there is a Moggy here in the states? Like really, my dream car would be an electric 1970 beetle. Totally. Super jealous of Louis beetle. This will be a fun series.
I cant wait to see the series! Are you going to road trip at the end of it like you did the van? I really enjoyed your experiences along the way. Keep up the interesting adventures!
Hope you really integrate the low voltage stuff more in this build, felt that let the last build down a bit, but I’m sure you were on a learning curve with it all
Take the battery harness and lay it out on the plywood and connect the controler, engine, battery to this before strapping it to the vehicle. Should make it visually appealing to the audience and make it easier for the adjustments without having it strapped into the vehicle.
Absolutely loved this video, Louis. It makes me so happy to see how far you have come. It feels like only yesterday you were rocking up in the "Boom Bus" and making lots of very unhappy kids forget about their crap for a while. You keep doing you man, you're really making a super positive impact on the world like I always thought you would.
This is pretty exciting! It would be fun to add some stealth hot rod touches like the undercarriage lighting you did for the van. Maybe a really nice sound system too. Remember your building for your family too, though. You might want that acceleration curve to be a little safer than the cars you drove in the video ;-) I wonder if Moggy could fix a parachute to the back of his Beetle and take it out drag racing? Can you imagine the look on the other drivers face when this tiny thing blows the doors off them?!? :-)
Maybe not needed now but if you do end up taking longer road trips, fit CCS rapid charging cability as that is the main charging standard now here in the UK and Europe.
I used to have a ‘75 Beetle that colour. It was green when I first bought it. It took me a few days to choose a new colour. In some lights it looked purple so I named the beetle Cadbury
Great video I watched your video on your Baywindow electric build and thought it was epic I was thinking it would be cool to put the beetle on a Dyno before and after And is it not possible to add a extra alternator to electric drive to add extra power back into the batteries? Also I’d love to made you a matching mini surfboard to go with the beetle I like the one I made for Richard At electric Classic cars green Baywindow pick up
love to see you still holding on to the "old" fun for louis bag, absolutely loved the whole video and super inspired for my next car to be electric now!
Well I just wanted too offer some in put for electric bus or the beetle if you consider getting dc to dc converter it takes 12volts brings it up to 24 then you can adjust the voltage and the amps then there is ac converter that allows you to adjust the ac voltage so you don't have to have 240 or 250 ac line to charge the vehicle and it works in other country's and the US its like step up transformer guy on RUclips was using it coasterica were the power is not consistent for charging electric vehicles and then they have all these new portable power stations that charge off the solar and that go up to 2:40 or 250 volts to that would help you keep it charged when solar ain't optimal and I think you should get most of all that stuff on Amazon great video
My mind is blown 🫨🫨🫨. Moggie’s cars are insane!!!! I’d love to visit the workshop!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍 He really gave you guys a shock with the acceleration 🤣 The beetle is so awesome and I can’t wait to follow along!!!
Are you going to use one of Moggies kits or build one up yourself? Had to laugh at the chaps garage you bought the beetle from with the lamppost in the middle of his garage 😂
this is truly a remarkable project! Building an electric Tesla-powered classic car is a fantastic blend of innovation and preservation of automotive history. The passion and dedication you've put into this build are evident, and it's inspiring to see the transformation of this classic beauty into a cutting-edge electric vehicle. Your attention to detail and craftsmanship are truly commendable. This video serves as a testament to the limitless possibilities of combining modern technology with classic aesthetics. Thank you for sharing this captivating journey with us! Greetings from 🇧🇷
I've watched you for some years now and the camper van conversion was fascinating and funny as you set fire to things🤣.. also there are many others now doing these conversions on RUclips but I've never seen anybody do a hybrid conversion have you and is it even possible? Just a thought, especially with the VW layout and you are not stuck with a single form of propulsion. Hope you learn't some Health & Saftey tips.....like long trousers or asbestos shorts 😂🤣
you know you COULD make this into a drag focused funny car complete with wheelie bar out back, massive tires, and a parachute but since its electric, its fine to daily drive for laughs just saying you COULD....
Had no idea you live in Brighton now! I'm a welder/ metal fabricator in Brighton. Let me know if you need any help with anything metal related, see if i can help ya!

You should watch the ones where he drives his electric van from California to new York before Christmas it was so good
Couldn’t agree more. I used to watch him loads a few years back and then this suddenly appeared on my feed. It’s good to be back watching him again.
Man, I used to watch these videos everyday back in 2012, back 11 years later. Absolutely insane how time flies 😊
The beetle is almost too nice to be converted, motor looks so clean and well put in.

Congrats on the baby.
That's exactly what happened to my vw bug..rust.
I ended up with a two by four balancing the battery LoL 🤣
the pikes peak race is fantastic to watch! insane on how fast some of the guys go though D: i love going up there to watch every time!

Can we take a moment to appreciate that graphic intro 😨😨🤯🤯😍😍😭😭

It's amazing to see Damon Alburn has gotten I to converting cars to EVs.
Wow, Louis! Like others have said this popped up on my top feed after not seeing your content for what feel like a decade. Love the video!
Can't wait for this build! Also yes Steve and Louis mini UK trip haha throwing me back YEARS right now!
Fascinating project, I'm with this one all the way. Congrats on your new baby.
Louis, be sure to protect battery from the cold more effectively. Glad you are back. Congrats on newborn. John
Hi from Thailand! I watch Moggy's Vintage Voltage on Discovery and now thanks to your link have subbed to Electric Classic Cars. Cheers!
Congratulations on the new arrival! Welcome to parenthood! I followed your adventure cross country with the VW Van, and I thought you had disappeared after that. So glad to see you back on RUclips. Can't wait to see your video series on the VW Bug conversion! Welcome back!
Love this! Just like the old UK daily vlogs. Felling nostalgic!
The blue colour might be perfect to incorporate some sort of Union Jack design on the car. Looking forward to the new Volts Wagen!

I almost wish you had found a different Beetle because that one had such a great engine build in it already 😂
Good luck on this series Louis! I am happy to see u still upload! 8-)
Yes, the VW bug was my dream car and my first car (early k reg '72)! That one you've bought is an absolute gem! ❤

I seriously love these types of series Louis!
Seller proudly shows off the engine bay, as Louis says "its ok that old things going anyway" and seller breaks down in tears.
Louis i always look forwad to watch your videos. Really enjoy these series
So excited for this new series, Louis! And what a cool intro, loving it already :D
Sir Richard is the right guy to speak to about electrifying he’s in a class of his own.
This is pretty exciting! It would be fun to add some stealth hot rod touches like the undercarriage lighting you did for the van. Maybe a really nice sound system too. Loved the video Louis. Followed Moggy on many channels; great Guy. So look forward to the build, cheers, John.

WOOHOO The series has started! Cant wait for more :D
Now this is cool! Make an all electric Morris Marina next.
You should add a CCS plug for fast charging
Would be great to see what else you can update on the car as part of the conversion. Or are you planning on keeping it looking the same
Oh man, I can't wait for more of these videos, Louis!
Actually fascinating. Looking forward to more of this mate.

I love this series already

Are you going to try a motor from an ID3 or an ID4?
What happend to you last project, VW camper electric which broke down due to the cold weather?
I think of when we were kids and punch each other in the arm/shoulder and say "Punch Bug" after seeing one pass
How much would you sell the engine for?
I’ve got a 1968 to Beetle, rolling shell
Wow🎉! This is awesome lol!
Try to get a fast charging unit in this build for faster charging times.
waaaaaa a decade later this lad lookin great
Is it legal to drive whilst operating a hand held electrical device?
So fun! ❤❤❤
Moggie👍 top man👍
Had no idea you live in Brighton now! I'm a welder/ metal fabricator in Brighton. Let me know if you need any help with anything metal related, see if i can help ya!
Hilarious loved this video😂
Please waterproof everything this time no hanging wires and please make it more reliable than the bus!
You can get some garages to convertt any vehicle to electric. Costs cheaper then a brand new electric vehicle.
looking forward to seeing you convert a bug.
