Catching the replay tonight. I always cut my zippers about 1/8 shorter on each side when adding zipper tabs. It gives me a little extra room when sewing past the zipper tabs. My Easy Zipper Pouches and Santorini Totes come out much better when I am not struggling getting past that zipper tab. Thanks for a great tutorial.
Great tips as always Natalie, thanks! Good to know about not snipping into the tiny striped jacquard zippers. I love that tape too & have much better outcomes when I take the time to use it.
I missed the live or I would have asked this in the live- I’m confused about the striped zipper. How do you cut it to size if you aren’t supposed to cut it?
@@SewHungryHippieohhhh, okay! Duh. Well that did a flyby over my head😂😂. I just got back from my 50th high school reunion so I’m still recovering. Man, those people got old😏😏
You cannot cut the stripe part of the zipper to make it more narrow. Sometimes we don’t want our zipper as wide as the tape is normally and we can narrow that tape on each side of the zipper teeth.
No but I do use double sided sticky tape on the zipper tape now - and make sure it's the correct length because if it's too long it will act wavy. Lemme know how ya do!
Great tutorial and so many handy tips! My zipper foot can be adjusted to sew on either side; which side should the needle be on compared to the zipper? The side of the edge i'm sewing or the other side, farther from the edge?
I’m watching your zipper demonstration. The issue for me is the zipper pull. I gave a zipper foot and I move the zipper pull away from the zipper foot. I can’t seem to get the zipper to lay straight when I’m clipping it to the layers prior to sewing. I’ve tried both tape and clips. Any comments?
Hi Susan, That sounds frustrating! Have you tried practice pieces? Sometimes, practicing the technique separately will help with the outcome of installing a zipper in a project.
@@SewHungryHippie I've made quite a few bags now. It seems to happen more when the zipper pull is larger and thicker. I'll try opening or closing the zipper more to see if that helps. Thank you!
ohmygawwd!! i am drooling at that print fabric!! it is utterly delishous!! fantastic bag, Natalie!! i got to order from you all!!
that two sided tape is your best friend in applying zipper tape.
Great tips! Natalie, I love the way you’re so positive . You’ve got a awesome heart.
Thank you so much 💖 I love sharing what I have learned for you to achieve stress free sewing!!!

So happy you caught the replay!!!!!
I totally agree with you. Press the tape and sew 3/8" for #5 zips. Use DST when you can.
Happy Sunday from Gail Luna in Florida 😊
Thank you for joining us 🥰💖❤️

Thank you so much Tamara!
Thanks Natalie! Always something to learn!
Yay! Or--- to remember- so often I forget a tip and then bam! Someone says something to remind me. :D
The tape is a game changer
It really is!
Thank you Natalie for all the great tips!
You are so welcome!
That was so helpful. Thank you Natalie.
So glad!

Oh you can cut it like that- cross wise, I meant snipping into it for a curve.

Hi from Florida! Thanks for the hints!
You are so welcome!
Hello from central Maine!
Hello there!
Great video and great tips. I agree by not rushing to finish your project.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks! Do you install your pull after you’ve attached the zipper ? I think I’m likely to get waves from not getting the pull on evenly.

The needle should be on the side you are sewing.
