I’m a diamond genji main (who also plays zenyatta and zarya) (I also play on ps4). My first season I placed in gold. The players I went against were better than those in this game. The first tip for this genji is turn up your sensitivity. Second tip is don’t use sword swipe to engage; use it to finish. Third tip is change jump to l2, deflect to x, and secondary fire to r1. This allows you to aim while jumping. Finally, work on your accuracy! You were missing shots on people not moving.
Rank on console is so broken. My friend who doesn't play video games and doesn't know basic game concepts was placed in diamond and he plays significantly worse than the players here.

Jacob Coney this guy plays genji at a silver level lmao. He had the worst deflects ever, dashes into a guy and then turns around to shoot a roadhog instead of finishing who he went for, misses a lot of shurikens, doesn't recognize dash distances so he overshoots a lot of them and doesn't move that well. You could bait out his deflect by just looking at him lmao.
I'm not sticking up for this guy, but to get good at genji you have to play him. I am a high diamond low master console genji, and I was triggered the entire vid. He needs to pull his head out of his ass and quit thinking he's better than anybody else because he "mains" one of the hardest heroes in the game. I believe there is a median between learning to play a characters and playing them no matter what, because you'll stay in low ranks if you do. Even though I'm a genji main I still play every role in the game. What give genji "mains" this bad reputation are people like this that feel superior to others because they're playing a hero with a higher difficulty. Without ur tanks and healers u can't do anything so don't go around acting all high and mighty because you can lock in a dps hero faster than the other people on your team.
He's a boosted bronze genji. When he used blade he just stood there in the middle of them, instead of jumping to avoid taking damage. I saw him dash into the ground when he got the reset. He's like never going for Crits, and his accuracy is overall pretty bad. This is just a pretentious kid that can't accept that he belongs in bronze. He was never going for the supports. I feel bad for people that play with him. Not even close to play, really close to bronze though.
Zaka Waka exactly which gets even worse when it's a group who take only dps leaving the rest of the team unbalanced. The lack of voice chat is also an issue but it can't be helped.

As you probably noticed, he doesn’t change his button bindings... He isn’t jumping because he has to press X and use the analog stick to aim at enemies. That’s something that a lot of console player struggle with, because they don’t change jump to L1 or another bumper. Also people don’t change their sensitivity/crosshairs on console. It holds a lot of console players back.
i bought the game on xbox, got level 25, only played genji with the default controls, and got high plat, which is higher then i am on pc.. so i guess, the default controls are easy to use i think.
I use my right bumper to jump, because I don't have to take my right thumb off that button, and I have quicker reaction times than some players. You should all try it. I did this when I played BO3, and IW, because I could wallride or jump, while turning, and had quicker reaction time 99% of the time.
For PS4 I found that swapping Secondary Fire to RB, Jump to LT and deflect to X is much easier since you can be more obnoxious 😊 My Oni Genji skin also helps a lot because I'm crap if I equip any of the other skins, it's fricking weird

This Genji was absolutely trash. You carry your team? You got carried, lol... those medals didn't mean shit. All you did was dash into enemies that your teammates were about to kill, and waste deflects. You sure as hell didn't hit any shurikens. I bet this dude was trashing his whole team, too. Stylosa. I played genji on console for a good 5 months then recently got a pc and started playing OW on it. I have noticed a lot of differences in limitations of controller vs mouse and keyboard. On console, it is EXTREMELY hard to do advanced movements and be as hard of a target to hit as if you were on pc. Also, on console, when using ult, dont guve the advice to “dash up, use ult, then dash to your first target.” Dashibg up and using ult works but after that you should save your dash for the first engagement you have on the way down. This ensures that when you fall into the supports that you are targeting you can dash if they have some sort of escape ability (for example mercy’s gaurdian angel) or to increase dps (slice, dash, slice is the best combo, will finish off any support or dps)
Well, because when you go up the ranks, the enemy won't let you too close with just one dash most of the time, and if you are, when you pull the blade, they can just focus fire you. Also, when you dash up, you have more vision where you want to land.

Top tip for you aspiring Genji players on console; change your button mapping so that jump is on one of the triggers. It’s ridiculously hard to aim accurately and use the ‘a’ or ‘x’ button to jump. Having jump on a trigger allows you to leave your thumbs on the control sticks :^]
MangoGamingYT my friend is gold but he's a really good widow, I'm low plat but I feel I'm a lot better than that with Genji (let's just put it this way, if this guy really was plat like he thinks he should be, I should be in masters xD). I just don't play comp enough to rank up, not all players in gold and plat on console are awful. I just hate comp rn, its a cancerous meta and a shitfest filled with mercy, junkrat and cheese comps.
You don't have to dash up to the air and dash down to a target when you use dragonblade, because if you dash down to a mercy or lucio, they can easily get away. Mercy can guardian angel away and Lucio can boop you, but if you just dash to a target then when they are trying to get away you dash to them again for the final blow
It's because PC players are accustomed to having Ana as the main healer, and with the nano it makes sense to dash down into the target and slash because that's a guaranteed kill. There are times when it is better to drop and slash>dash though
Nah guys, it’s not about that. When you dash into the air before using dragon blade you have an overview of where everyone is, so as soon as you hit one target you can turn (faster than this guy) and know exactly where your next opponent is so you can get better blades
Dashing up into the air makes them confused about where you are, you're harder to kill, and you still get another dash which you can use against a Mercy. I get that Mercy can guardian angel away but it's not a teleportation device so she takes time to fly to her teammates. Lucio's boop can be deflected or blocked (I forgot which one)
Here’s the thing. I’m sure you know this. SR is based on win/loss. You can do perfectly for every match you play, and lose every single game. You can drop to bronze. When I was in Silver, I said I didn’t belong in Silver. I belonged in at least high gold/low plat. My GM friends even agreed with me. To top it all off, I queued with my mid-plat friends and I climbed from 1955-2070 in one night. So there are SOME cases where you do not belong in your rank
Overson no one is arguing that, but people who are saying they “don’t belong in their rank” and can’t ever seem to climb out need to do some self-revaluation. That said ELO-hell is a thing but if your in gold still after a week of trying, maybe your just a gold player.
That’s called boosting. Honestly if you belonged in mid-plat you’d eventually get there. A lot of Overwatch is based on how well you can work with your team mates. Sure, you might have good game sense, mechanics, etc. but unless youre a god you wont be able to carry an entire team without teamwork. Your game skills might be mid-plat, but your rank shows you have no teamwork.
I started off at 2k and fell to 600, rose to 1k this season then fell to 580, then rose to 700, I'm hardstuck bronze because i'm forced to soloqueue and fight smurfs all day with names that are literally !4400YOINKEY and other shit. I get 4 golds most games on dps and always have gold healing when I heal. It is beyond stupid. Especially when everyone wants to play all dps or like you said in teh video bastion with no shield etc.
I go 100 sens on Horizontal and Vertical with 0 aim smoothning . My aim is eh, but man my blades and dashes are at peak performance. I might go for it one day.
Btw in console if someone feels like highest sensitivy is not fast enough you can go in advanced sens settings and lower that sensitivy smooth thing. Lower it is higher your sensitivy is.
Every genji console player should do thins. Guys if you change your jump to r1 and deflect to x you will turn to a beast trust me guys it will take a while to get use to it but you will have amazing aim and you will be shooting while jumping you will basically have better control.

Or you could create a private party and in the party settings go to prioritize game chat
On Xbox it's much simpler on the recordings there's a check box setting that's called "enable mic" and as long as it's checked it'll appear.

He had the worst deflects ever, dashes into a guy and then turns around to shoot a roadhog instead of finishing who he went for, misses a lot of shurikens, doesn't recognize dash distances so he overshoots a lot of them and doesn't move that well. I'm not sticking up for this guy, but to get good at genji you have to play him. I am a high diamond low master console genji, and I was triggered the entire vid. He needs to pull his head out of his ass and quit thinking he's better than anybody else because he "mains" one of the hardest heroes in the game. I believe there is a median between learning to play a characters and playing them no matter what, because you'll stay in low ranks if you do. Even though I'm a genji main I still play every role in the game. What give genji "mains" this bad reputation are people like this that feel superior to others because they're playing a hero with a higher difficulty. Without ur tanks and healers u can't do anything so don't go around acting all high and mighty because you can lock in a dps hero faster than the other people on your team.

He's like never going for Crits, and his accuracy is overall pretty bad. This is just a pretentious kid that can't accept that he belongs in bronze. He was never going for the supports. I feel bad for people that play with him. Not even close to play, really close to bronze though.

As you probably noticed, he doesn’t change his button bindings... He isn’t jumping because he has to press X and use the analog stick to aim at enemies. That’s something that a lot of console player struggle with, because they don’t change jump to L1 or another bumper. Also people don’t change their sensitivity/crosshairs on console. It holds a lot of console players back.
I find aiming while jumping easy. You just need to aim with a different part of your finger. Or you can play claw.
i bought the game on xbox, got level 25, only played genji with the default controls, and got high plat, which is higher then i am on pc.. so i guess, the default controls are easy to use i think.
Yeah I jump with the LB or L1 bumpers. Makes playing all the heroes a ton easier.
I use my right bumper to jump, because I don't have to take my right thumb off that button, and I have quicker reaction times than some players. You should all try it. I did this when I played BO3, and IW, because I could wallride or jump, while turning, and had quicker reaction time 99% of the time.
For PS4 I found that swapping Secondary Fire to RB, Jump to LT and deflect to X is much easier since you can be more obnoxious 😊
My Oni Genji skin also helps a lot because I'm crap if I equip any of the other skins, it's fricking weird

Stylosa. I played genji on console for a good 5 months then recently got a pc and started playing OW on it. I have noticed a lot of differences in limitations of controller vs mouse and keyboard. On console, it is EXTREMELY hard to do advanced movements and be as hard of a target to hit as if you were on pc. Also, on console, when using ult, dont guve the advice to “dash up, use ult, then dash to your first target.” Dashibg up and using ult works but after that you should save your dash for the first engagement you have on the way down. This ensures that when you fall into the supports that you are targeting you can dash if they have some sort of escape ability (for example mercy’s gaurdian angel) or to increase dps (slice, dash, slice is the best combo, will finish off any support or dps)
I know this is a really long comment about a very specific thing but you give that advice every time you do an overanalyzed video on genji
Well, because when you go up the ranks, the enemy won't let you too close with just one dash most of the time, and if you are, when you pull the blade, they can just focus fire you. Also, when you dash up, you have more vision where you want to land.

Top tip for you aspiring Genji players on console; change your button mapping so that jump is on one of the triggers. It’s ridiculously hard to aim accurately and use the ‘a’ or ‘x’ button to jump. Having jump on a trigger allows you to leave your thumbs on the control sticks :^]

You don't have to dash up to the air and dash down to a target when you use dragonblade, because if you dash down to a mercy or lucio, they can easily get away. Mercy can guardian angel away and Lucio can boop you, but if you just dash to a target then when they are trying to get away you dash to them again for the final blow

It's because PC players are accustomed to having Ana as the main healer, and with the nano it makes sense to dash down into the target and slash because that's a guaranteed kill. There are times when it is better to drop and slash>dash though
Nah guys, it’s not about that. When you dash into the air before using dragon blade you have an overview of where everyone is, so as soon as you hit one target you can turn (faster than this guy) and know exactly where your next opponent is so you can get better blades
Dashing up into the air makes them confused about where you are, you're harder to kill, and you still get another dash which you can use against a Mercy. I get that Mercy can guardian angel away but it's not a teleportation device so she takes time to fly to her teammates. Lucio's boop can be deflected or blocked (I forgot which one)
Here’s the thing. I’m sure you know this. SR is based on win/loss. You can do perfectly for every match you play, and lose every single game. You can drop to bronze. When I was in Silver, I said I didn’t belong in Silver. I belonged in at least high gold/low plat. My GM friends even agreed with me. To top it all off, I queued with my mid-plat friends and I climbed from 1955-2070 in one night. So there are SOME cases where you do not belong in your rank
Overson no one is arguing that, but people who are saying they “don’t belong in their rank” and can’t ever seem to climb out need to do some self-revaluation. That said ELO-hell is a thing but if your in gold still after a week of trying, maybe your just a gold player.
That’s called boosting. Honestly if you belonged in mid-plat you’d eventually get there. A lot of Overwatch is based on how well you can work with your team mates. Sure, you might have good game sense, mechanics, etc. but unless youre a god you wont be able to carry an entire team without teamwork. Your game skills might be mid-plat, but your rank shows you have no teamwork.

I started off at 2k and fell to 600, rose to 1k this season then fell to 580, then rose to 700, I'm hardstuck bronze because i'm forced to soloqueue and fight smurfs all day with names that are literally !4400YOINKEY and other shit. I get 4 golds most games on dps and always have gold healing when I heal. It is beyond stupid. Especially when everyone wants to play all dps or like you said in teh video bastion with no shield etc.

I go 100 sens on Horizontal and Vertical with 0 aim smoothning . My aim is eh, but man my blades and dashes are at peak performance. I might go for it one day.
Btw in console if someone feels like highest sensitivy is not fast enough you can go in advanced sens settings and lower that sensitivy smooth thing. Lower it is higher your sensitivy is.

Every genji console player should do thins. Guys if you change your jump to r1 and deflect to x you will turn to a beast trust me guys it will take a while to get use to it but you will have amazing aim and you will be shooting while jumping you will basically have better control.
