You weren’t kidding in the corridor podcast when you said that this is what VR should’ve been two years ago! These are the most intricate and rewarding physics systems I’ve ever seen in a VR experience, and this very well could be the last straw to convince me to get one. Amazing job as always!
I’ve got one myself that I only play the rare beat saber on, this game looks like it has the potential to “feel” correct rather than just look good in vr, something that a lot of games miss.
Honestly every game Stress Level Zero has put out has made me want VR more than any other game I've seen on the market. Everything they produce looks absolutely stellar and on a level of understanding of VR that no other studio has reached.
I have played games in vr with a fraction of these mechanics and loved them, truly this will be amazing
Same. I'm pretty much sold on a vr headset and a pair of knuckles.

Well that shotgun doesn’t exist in the game. Would’ve been a super cool shotgun to have.

@@Doyle-lh8ix there are flashlights and spears in the game. you can find the first one at the begining of the sewers laying on the floor, and i found spears in "Streets" and the level succeeding it, don't remember the name. Searching for secret places is the key to find all the good stuff.
I believe Brandon said they "they just didn't feel right" which is entirely reasonable as he is a perfectionist looking to ensure everything is perfect for the game, notice how after all the updates he's refined the physics despite them being the absolute shit (good way). The shotguns will arrive, just not now. Have a little patience
They say they will eventually add a shotgun. Me though I want a revolver.
Seeing now they have a shotgun model they need animations. And the mystery ammo is probably for the shotgun

The only thing that "feels" like half life is the crowbar and headcrabs. Not much beyond that.
Funny you should say this because Boneworks is in the Valve master game package on steamdb. Not a stretch to think this title will be part of Valve's big VR push. www.resetera.com/threads/new-vr-game-boneworks-appears-in-valve-master-game-package-possible-valve-studio-acquisition.102881/

I love that you guys are pushing the realization that perfect 1 - 1 motion matching isn't always needed. With the hands sliding and twisting on attachment points, motion smoothing for stocks, recoil, full body awareness, tons of physics, etc. it really takes that polish to the next level.
Also, remember that the hands look a little off only because they are using knuckle controllers. If you go back and rewatch it you will notice how the hands form to the knuckle controllers. Oh and touch controllers.
It would be cool if they switched the controller views on and off to show it.
It works really well in games like Blade and Sorcery. Once I got used to the speed of certain weapons and how to move correctly it began to feel really natural.

Please don't let valve buy stress lvl zero. U have created the engine that will pioneer mainstream vr. Instead of just selling ur engine, why not make ur own vr platform like valve did (steam) when they invented their own engine, just as u have! This is worth billions, and I hate seeing small creatives absorbed by market competition. Keep doing you!
Btw, been following u for years and years! Love u and the whole crew!
HALF-LIFE 3 _CONFIRMED!?!?_
In all seriousness though, looks great!
So I have played Halflife on DK2 and still to this day nothing beats it. Nothing. One every level its still better. The only thing that improved is the hardware in the screen and tracking. That is the experience that told me this is the future and then it never happened. Games developed with this engine is where things will take off again. They should do HF3 for sure.

Although I don't play VR games, I'm glad to see Stress Level Zero actually pushing the boundaries for what the technology is able to do.
not really theyre just taking everything thats already been done polishing it up and putting it into one game
@@gone2742 They're doing what nobody else has done with the technology. That's how they're pushing the boundaries
@@GoBIGclan not really from what Ive seen theyre doing the same stuff already done but better. The melee and weight simulation of blade and sorcery, the gunplay of h3vr, the climbing of climbey, the ik body of contractors. These things have been done st0 are just doung them better all at once
@@gone2742 I see what you're saying. Climbey has made a pretty believable climbing system. Good melee and a weighted feel to it, has been done before. Good gunplay has been done before. Etc.
However, nobody has created a universal physics, collision, and tactile manipulation platform that can do it all, especially not one that respects the body with the same rules. You can make individual systems that do individual things like those games have, and try to tie them together. This starts from the ground up. It's a base system. Now they can plug in an object, structure, or ai, set it's properties and do some tweaks, and the platform handles it in a realistic way.
That's what I'm trying to say, but I think I agree with what you are saying too.
@@GoBIGclan I see what you mean as all other universal physics systems in vr have been openly inspired by nodes first boneworks video
SOOOOO STOKED! These realistic physics could really make you feel superhuman in a game with superstrength. Especially if you could rip someone apart with your bare hands.
The amount of work going into the physics is insane and how you use the pressure sensitivity is amazing, can't wait.
Valve knuckles were made for this game
i believe this will go down in vr history for years and years.
My biggest wish is that when this game comes out it comes with a sandbox tool just like crysis did. I loved the crysis engine so much and I spent so much time making random stuff in there.
This is ALL THE BEST features of VR that I always wanted and to see it all finally realized is a dream to me. The original teaser 11 months ago was what inspired me to finally build a computer and get VR. And I'd love to be able to learn and try and make more content to contribute to this game.

Fblade Check out the new video in node, there is a sledge hammer :O
Now all your getting over it fantasies can come true
@@spiderman5187 it wouldn't happen though, there's a video on the science of getting over it. it's physically not possible in the game as player strength relies on how realistically you push and pull items.
@@xracecar no it is, the strenght would rely on the speed at which you move the hammer just like in the original game. Also the lack of legs in the game is very useful for a vr version since you can't use any.
but you cant do it in boneworks. you simply cant create infinite force by pushing something in the game. it's all calculated by controller speed and where its located, meaning it'd probably not work in the game.
