This looks so hard like a Source Game, the textures, the whole orange yellow grey ambianc, every texture is kinda dirty rusty even how the Boxes break feels like Half Life.
You can tell a lot of the inspiration came from half life and portal
This game is a salute to the HL series because it's trying to so the same thing that HL2 did with its physics engine but for vr. That would be making it so amazing that they don't even need to charge 60 dollars for a washed up, glitchy piece of garbage that runs the same as it did for the past 3 years to make money
Right? That's my initial impression

This is gonna set a new high bar for VR developers and VR games in general even if this game is sort of a proof of concept.
I can't wait man
Nope, you have it the other way around. This game is a result of others, games such as HLVR will set the standard. Boneworks has some Valve DNA thanks to their bug fixing and support, and we can assume elements of HLVR are in this game.

@@thepope2412 It's not getting those. Confirmed many times by devs
@@Kevin-fn5tk That game was inevitable, too many people that supported the project for it to not happen. Same with Half-Life, there is zero reason that Valve would not work on another HL game when the opportunity came to do so. Like all great games, they take time. We are so used to games being shit out and early access we forgot that good games can take many years to develop. Rockstar, Valve, Kojima, Sid Meier, ect. all take 5+ years to make games, they always deliver amazing games that rock the industry every time they do.
Might add, what a great trailer, no voice over, no CGI cut scenes, no gimmicks.... just glorious game play that shows off how interactive the world is.

SL0 are amateur devs with a poor track record of games (hooverjunkers and duck season), I doubt they are paid very well, but they'll get one hell of a payday once Boneworks drops! They definitely worked their ass off and got help with the most legendary developer ever, Valve. Boneworks is an instant success.

it really feels like it. half life kinda introduced props and rag dolls to invent new gameplay mechanics. Imagine bone works being open source and someone takes it for a half life 3 storyline.
@Tristan Koot Wait, so you are saying that Boneworks is secretly HLVR? That is an interesting thought. Although I recommend you go check out 'ValveNewsNetwork' - lots of data mining suggests HLVR is an actual Valve title.

IIRC they are working with Valve or have talked with them at least.
@@tyjuji Only in regards to the headset/controller. They partnered with Valve because of Valve's index headset. Valve has nothing to do with the actual game itself and did not help develop it in any way. They just partnered involving using their specific headset/controllers.
This looks like Half Life because it's pretty much a salute to the game. Half Life 2 was ground breaking at the time because of the new source engine that really took physics in a game way beyond what any other game had done at the time. And Brandon is a *huge* believer that not only are physics based games the best and most fun kinds of games, but Especially in VR he thinks physics based gameplay is the key to a good game. So this entire game is pretty much paying homage to Half Life 2 and how it changed the gaming world with it's physics engine. Brandon and his team are looking to do the same thing again except now in VR. So it makes sense they would make the game essentially a huge salute to HL2.
It doesn't really from what I can see. This looks more like a series of large puzzle rooms: Solve the room puzzle then move onto the next room and repeat, like almost every single indie game of the last decade. Half-Life is not that. Personally, I like games that are more about the adventure you go on and play through rather being almost entirely there to serve the puzzle-based design mechanics and little else. Even the enemies here look more like they're here as part of a puzzle than being actual enemies that are invading for some reason and that you have to defeat for some bigger purpose, outside of a force in story to justify the puzzles, again. Sometimes I actually want to simply walk through a series of areas without solving any puzzles and kill some baddies on the way to some end goal of being the hero that saves the day or whatever, like would happen far more closely in real life.
inceptional yeah there’s always that one guy...
So basically people who are playing this are getting basic combat training.

This looks like the pinnacle of the immersive sim genre.
That buzzword doesn't mean what you think it means. And DX1 already hit that, chief.
Shig I’m pretty sure I know what Immersive sims are, I’ve played shit like Arx Fatalis, Deus Ex, and the first two System Shock games.
I’m just saying that with the interactivity that VR and this game allows you, it offers a little bit more than what our standard keyboard and mouse immersive sims offer.
You’re not limited by simple action prompts in the sense of “shoot” or “swing your weapon”
If you want to push an enemy away before poppin some body shots you could probably do that for this game, you can climb up pipes and across without needing to press a button for it.
I think VR just pushed the idea of “If you think this’ll work, it’ll probably work” philosophy of immersive sims a little further.
Indeed, this is the first VR game I've actually been impressed by. The interactivity actually reminds me of what they tried to do with Jurassic Park: Trespasser years ago, only... You know, not completely broken.

Have been looking forward to this for a while, can't wait.
You know they know how to make a good game when it looks fun to open a door.
I love the melee combat you can actually perform in Boneworks.
Take a blade, stab it, twist it, turn it around by both ends.
So visceral and dramatic!
Stab it, twist it, turn it, bop it!
Idk, I like the one orientation you get with melee weapons in games like blade and sorcery. Keeps things concise.
Daggers and axes kinda feel cumbersome cause of that
And dont get me started on the longswords
This is how people get jobs at Valve.
Why would you want to? Game studios have the reputation of underpaying and overworking
More like this is how people make companies that "REPLACE" Valve.
Alex Williams valve is a little different t in my opinion, have you researched their work culture or viewed their employee handbook
@@locoguy420 I agree that Valve is a little different, I've seen the employee handbook but isn't that from 6+ years ago now? But just because it's in the handbook that doesn't mean it's how stuff goes down, I'm sure Rockstar has a lovely handbook they give you also, then you sleep under your work desk and your wife never sees you.
@@Livewire1234 well, its eather that, or you work your ass off as a inde dev just make the ends meet.
Holy shit I have waited for so long this looks so heckin cool
Yes I’m a Christian boy
I do not swore
Now, this how the terminator resistance should've sounded like in my opinion.
Who’s here after the Bonelab release date trailer?
dude, literally everyone, there can’t possibly be someone who isn’t here after it already happensd
@@VRlegs I was just getting ready lmao
@@VRlegs no man im here hyped for the release of boneworks
@@VRlegs dude shut up you sound like a nerd
Needs more Brett yelling "AW WADDUP SON?!"
This looks amazing. May have to get a VR headset as an early Christmas gift.
Yess, this game is coming out in my birthday, now thats perfect timing.
Happy early birthday to ya, then ^^
That's also my birthday. Nice
I will try to get this as an advent gift, that would be cool!, OMG I AM SO HYPED.
And Happy Birthday when the day come
Day after mine
Now this is exactly what I expect out of a VR game.
This is like hl2 in physics how this game pushes physics foward
The most important part of this video is niko’s grunts

He's iirc the co-founder of Corridor Crew and he's friends with Stress level 0 and iirc Stress Level 0 work in the same building/warehouse and floor level as them
I was hoping at the end he would get into a hazmat suit.. lol
me too, bro. I was also kind of hoping he'd "remove" some goggles or something, and all the logos and enemy textures would change into half life ones, like the veil has been lifted. and a legit head crab would jump at him.
I knew I shouldn't have clicked on a trailer!! Now I gotta buy VR kit
It’s worth it!
It's expensive asf
Ditto 250$. It’s less expensive than a console
@@FHD80057 you need Valve Index for this, or at least controllers with HTC vive. ~$1000
@@FHD80057 consoles are cheaper than vr
Man I’ve been waiting for this!!! Need it now!!!
The right man in the wrong game can make all the difference in the world.
I'd say this definitely is the right game, though :)
This looks like such a fun game! I'm so glad it's a full on adventure. Can't wait!
Hey, loved Jet Island....you working on anything new perhaps?
@@RicanSamurai Thank you! I'm working on remaking my physics system to be way more advanced and so that I can add new features like climbing and grinding :)
