@@Wimplo86 he's literally that "stand proud, you're strong" meme, but instead of a special grade catastrophe curse, it's a bunch of kids he beat up because they won't leave him alone. Lmao
I live in Florida. It's super common for the person who defends themselves to get suspended. The admins don't care even if you were forced into a fight, if you fight back you will get in trouble. And it's like that in a lot of places, I'm not sure why that became a thing.
That applies to pretty much every school ever. The reason why is I think it's because fighting is not allowed. They mean by every way, shape, or form. So technically, "fighting back" is also a form of fighting. I wouldn't be surprised if whoever made this a thing was a bully themselves. I'd bet on that.
It's kinda weird considering the laws that protect self-defence when it comes to murder, use of guns, etc. Idk about Florida, but I'm gonna assume it's the same. I don't think people should be left with no punishment or reprimand whatsoever since I understand that the school might want to keep "accidents" like that to a minimum, but going as far as to suspend the student that's just trying to protect themselves is just so... weird? Unless the bully gets expelled, then in comparison it is better I guess, but even then, it feels exaggerated. Although to be fair, as a non-American, Idk if suspensions are that serious of a thing or it's something that doesn't really matter in the end.
@@akirayuki6275 Yeah, they want to keep fights to a minimum, but they usually don't care about the context of the fight, like who was bullying who. Suspensions are a pretty bug deal. It's not end of the world but it does go on record and you miss 1 to 2 weeks of school.
Yeah, it's the same where I lived in the USA. It doesn't matter what the cause of the bullying, but if you try to fight back, you will be suspended. I found that very bs since it literally goes against the self-defense law.

I was bullied and the guy that picked on me the most was known even by the teachers and headmaster. One day I had just had enough of his BS so told him where to go and like with Connor there was a planned beatdown of me. Anyways in break time he came up and started shoving me and I absolutely beat the matter out of him. Bare in mind as a 39yr at 5"3 now you can imagine at 14 I was tiny. He was like nearly 6 foot. Anyways I messed him up really bad and got taken to the headmaster and although he HAD to scold me, he knew why it all went down and actually told me well done for standing up for myself. I never got bullied again after that and even got a few of the girls talking to me. The headmaster was Paul Grant of Robert Clack. He was knighted by the queen of England. Awesome headmaster he really was.
I stood up to my bullies as a child and it started a covert operation where every one of my personal possessions would be stolen/destroyed and no evidence left behind so bullying didn’t stop but option of me winning a fight agains my bullying was removed.
connor does not encourage violence hence why he says is a bad advice but in reality is better to have fights every once in a while than being a rug for other people all your school life (let the beast out and be supper crazy and violent)
I agree. It also largely depends on the school system and the bully's popularity and if the bully has any weapons, but I honestly prefer to fight back when nobody and nothing else is behind my back to help against that kind of people.
If you really have to resort to ape-like social behavior to survive, then two things have already gone wrong: (1) You are surrounded by unsophisticated, socially-impoverished people; and (2) You don't have the intellect to find more clever ways of dealing with your enemies.
Yea, you gotta fight back. In high school I had my anime moment where I lost my patience and stood up to my bullies when they got physical. Turned out very well, they started hanging out with me and never bothered me again. I will never forget that I was so ready to get ganged up by all 5 of them, and it turned out completely opposite.
Karaoke pro here, just sing any Katy Perry song as long as youre not from the east asian hemisphere, its so recognizable for the vast majority of millennials/zoomers/boomers its kinda due to radio, it'll be the best song to blast off a night at a karaoke
Yeah Connor and Joey told these stories before in I think one of the first 10 episodes of the podcast but it's cool hearing them again from a different perspective.
I also remember when I got my black belt in Jiu Jitsu and get a page in the local paper on how I was the youngest to get one in that borough and club, I was getting FB friend requests from people that bullied me and stuff. Like dude I am above that why would I waste my time looking for you now?

I like how connor described kareoke it is basically what happens in a company work truck when 4 workers go home from the job site in the same truck and hotel california or bohemian rhapsody starts playing and the jext thing you see is 4 by rpy men singning in a pick up truck in unison like it happened many times to me in my life
3:22 I'm a pretty good singer and could reach some high notes. Bohemian Rhapsody is my favorite song to sing on Karaokes because I love hearing the reactions of people who get caught off guard when I sing the opera part of it. So when someone in our community rents a karaoke machine or when Im out with friends drinking, they would always request bohemian rhapsody. The con is they make me(the audience as well) sing more of harder to reach notes from songs they like to hear someone to finally kind off sing it properly and instead of getting drunk I would stay sober and always be the one to drive my friends home. And I do agree with joey, it really seems the obvious choice for a karaoke song when you're out with friends because it is iconic and everyone knows it l, but man is it hard to get right when you can't reach those notes. 😅
Yeah good Karaoke advice is read the room for the general age group/genre of people you are with, and pick a song that was at the top of the charts when those people would have been in high school. Usually it's a popular enough song that you will also know a majority of the lyrics, and if you walk around the room and hold out the microphone for other people, they will gladly stand next to you so they can sing along. Works every time.
I only fought in late kindergarten/early elementary school, not because of bullies or anything we just felt like it was fun to fight a lot of times. In middle school through high school everything was fucking peaceful, the only fights that happened were one-time feuds happenstances and also illegal fight clubs.
so when i go karaoke and there’s a really good singer, i lowkey don’t like it bc then they usually steal the mic and sing ever single song. i had to put on emo rock bc he didn’t know it just so i could have my moment

I never stood up to my bullies, however instead I just didn't provide them with a reaction - the few times they actively did something to upset me, I just essentially shrugged it off quietly and continued on with my day, which lead them to leave me alone, I didn't get upset nor did I feel show any sense of being sorry for myself, I knew they were twats and I was near mute back then so thankfully they forgot about me being around the majority of the time. I was threatened with a fight a couple of times but I didn't say yes or no to it, I just acted as though I didn't care and wasn't trying to look tough (of course I did care and was terrified but I wasn't going to let that be known). Now 14 years later I know I'm doing far better than the majority of them and I'm not longer mute, I don't put up with any shit and people respect me for who I am. All the bullies that I've known were just searching for a reaction, for entertainment, if you don't entertain they will get bored, it'll take a little time but they'll move on to someone who does entertain them, atleast that was my experience.
