Just something about its look that bugs me LOL I just don’t like it. I really like my tracks cameras I had a crew of about eight guys doing concrete work at my house. It was so much fun watching the camera trying to keep track of the same guy LOL. As for apple it doesn’t bother me and I don’t use the Google feature. I received this camera a few days ago and so far it’s doing good. But out of my nine reolink cams I like my PT AUTRA PTZ a bit more and my track cameras second. Someone mentioned that wish these cams came in black well in one area I didn’t like the white it just stuck out too much. Rather than painting it I used some grey duck tape to give two of them a grey and white cameo look. That was about three months ago and the Gorilla tape is still sticking in place. Nice Review as always Thank You
Awesome. Scrypted is a great option for Reolink. But when I make these videos, I'm speaking to the masses and a large percentage have no idea what Scrypted is.
Hey George, like always a great video keep up the great work. When it comes to cameras, their POE cameras I like the most. But like you know, Apple home support for me. That’s a big downfall.
No Zoom so not a PTZ camera. Still waiting for a ColorX with zoom. I didn't like the design at first but I've warmed up to it. Practically they've done a good job at getting everything into it including the 20,000mAh battery. Would personally prefer cables and connections to be on the top away from potentially being pulled out if installed within reach but for weather proofing I understand why they would do that.
The “zoom” on these cameras is always a gray area. It’s not an optical zoom, but at 4K, it’s a pretty decent digital zoom. So not a proper “PTZ”, but close. But I’m with you, ColorX with a proper zoom would be awesome. The star of the show with this one is definitely the battery….& yes I agree about the connections, but you are also correct as to the reason they did what they did. Like I said in the video, not my favorite design of theirs, but still a great camera.
@@GeorgeLangabeer be even more awesome if someone did a Poe version, proper optical zoom, colour x or max color, does anybody do this George,?if they do I will buy it
There are a couple reasons cameras are usually white (these companies do market research to determine colors). 1. White is the most neutral for aesthetics. 2. (Most important to me) white is the best color for deterrent purposes. It’s a good thing for it to be conspicuous. It deters thieves. I say it all the time…you have no idea how many times a camera system pays for itself by deterring something that you didn’t even know was going to happen.
How does it compare to the Trackmix? I have a few trackmix cameras now, both wireless and wired, which are my favourite so far. I like the dual lens function and the solid build.
This camera has a few features the Trackmix doesn’t have. But I personally like the Trackmix more than the Altas. Mostly because of what you mentioned, the dual lens & the build quality.
Thanks for your review George. A quick question, if the auto tracking picks up someone and say the camera tracks them as they walk past the camera and go out of shot 90° left, will the camera remain looking to the last position it saw the person or can it auto centre to a preset, otherwise the auto tracking would miss someone coming in from the right-hand side until they came into the cameras field of view when it is looking to the left, is that the case ?
If not having Apple home integration is the one thing that makes this the "perfect" wireless camera then, I guess this makes it the perfect wireless camera for everyone else that doesn't have Apple home.
Your video motivated me to purchase this camera. Is it possible to leave the Atlas PT Ultra camera permanently plugged into a charge cord? Is it advisable? Thank you
Hi George, excellent video content!! I live in Canada where temperatures can drop to -40 degrees Celsius. The average cold temperatures are usually -20 to -30 Celsius. I need a security camera for the outside of my detached garage. I bought a REOLINK 4K Cellular Trail Camera, 4G LTE however, the battery only works to a temperature of -10 degrees Celsius. I liked the cellular connection setup as I didn't have to install internet at my home. This camera also has a solar panel which helps to keep the battery charged during the warmer days. What type of camera would you recommend for the winter months? I am thinking of trying Vosker cameras. What do you think?
I have a U.S. amazon link in the description (I just confirmed it’s working fine). The Reolink Website link is also in the description and you can order straight from them in the U.S…So both of those are U. S. Purchasing options.
What's the point of continuous recording for only 8 days? For special occasions like going on vacation? The whole point for me to do continuous recording is to not miss out anything, so I need to do 365 days which I do with my PoE cameras with NVR recording.
There are a lot of people thrilled to have 24 hour recording, (even at 8 days) with a battery camera. If you’re not one of those people, stick with your NVR/POE.
Hi George. I just picked up a Reolink 16 channel 12 mp ultra HD 8 camera pro grade wired system from Costco. 4 TB. Is this still considered comsumer grade( Even though there advertising Pro grade) Your thoughts on it please Thank You Greg
Yes, that is still consumer grade. If you notice, I only talk about their WiFi cameras. I like their WiFi stuff, but I’m not a fan of their Wired NVR systems.
@GeorgeLangabeer .Hey Mr George, I'm looking for a non subscription, non wifi system. Why don't you like their hard wired NVR system? I'm very new to all this and your the 1st person I've seen a review on so your guidance is appreciated, Thanx Joseph
So when connected to Wi-Fi and the Wi-Fi network is down or something similar do you have to manually connect it again im only asking because the place im going to set these cameras are about 7 hours away from me and can’t go all the time to set it up again .
I hate companies like Apple and Microsoft invading our privacy. This camera not having Apple involved sounds like a good thing so long as they keep Google out of our privacy too?
I'm not talking about Reolink when I say this, but I'd be more worried about the camera brand invading your privacy than I would be Apple, Microsoft and Google.

Continuous recording locally with a battery camera in 4k is pretty neat, I like that they include the optional solar panel
Indeed. They've packed this one with some pretty cool specs.

Spin up scrypted, and get HomeKit integration, Thats what I did for my ReoLink Doorbell.

The specs on this camera are really great, I just wish it had ONVIF. Cant seem to find a good wireless ptz wifi camera with ONVIF

I'm not an Apple fanboy so this sounds great. Although I would like an optional color of black. It would make it less conspicuous at night.

You can do presets and make one of those presets your default position. The camera will then go back to that position.

You’d need a higher end, professional grade wired NVR system for those types of temps. WiFi cameras aren’t going to cut it.

Arlo is kind of an antique at this point. They aren’t really relevant anymore.
